As an owner of an Incred-i-box, #66, I like the add-on box concept. I have been in 70 mph winds with this box, it shakes rattles and rolls! I had to install tie downs it was so bad. I recommend some type of additional steel mounts to bond the trailer frames; making one solid base.

Out here in Nevada we periodically get 70-80 mph winds. The tie downs would be necessary at the Crystal installation.

For the add-a-box: offer half bath (toilet & sink) and where the shower would normally go, put hook-ups for a stackable washer/dryer!

I think his reasoning for installing a drain for shower was in case later you wanted to sell it. But I don't know how much more installing electrical/ plumbing for a w/d would be. Installation of electrical and some plumbing for w/d adds to the design and takes away speed of construction. But he might 🤷

If anyone from ITH is viewing the comments here… let Randy know that it would be a good idea to go over how the add-a-box units will be connected in regards to the electrical and plumbing. Will they have to be independently supplied or will there be a way to join the electric and plumbing together through the primary dwelling? So much potential in combining these unit’s together! It’s almost like what people are doing with the shipping containers.

Oh yes this is great Randy and Manders!! I was thinking about this back when you began building the IB. I was thinking of the half-bath/powder room/laundry room, and full bathroom in the bedroom area. I was also thinking of a deck, sunroom/screened porch add on and put the washer/dryer in that area, as my grandparents did the same with their screened porch, and they had a stick/brick house on a foundation. Too big to be a mobile home.

I was reminded by this of a video Jenna did a few years ago about a Small House Village, in (if memory serves me), Fresno. Their houses were on foundations, were smaller, and joined together by, as you mentioned, a breezeway, leading to another unit, and the breezeway contained storage, washer and dryer. An idea I had while watching you and thinking about the Fresno houses, was to build about a 4 foot connection between the two incredaboxes, and install plumbing for washer and dryer on one side, and closet space on the other.

I think I’d like a staggered configuration with two 8x20’s. Put them side by side to make one large living room with a small bedroom and bathroom (or 1/2 bath and closet). I also think an option would be to make one wall a storage closet. Old people don’t want to climb up and down ladders…speaking for a friend🥹

I quit watchin when you stopped doing custom builds and started only doing models. The models were either too small for what I wanted or too expensive for my budget. The Incredibox was way too small. Now, you got me back with the Add-a-box!! That is perfect for me! I just hope you keep selling them for at least a few years because I may need to start with one and add another one a little later. Also, the modular certification when you get it is a game changer. I am 54 year old soon-to-be empty-nester and divorced. I will most likely be needing an ADU in Maryland. Which currently doesn't allow ADU's on wheels. I am glad to hear from your previous video that there is a way to get around that. I wish you could give us more information on how to get in touch with the people you were talking to at the home show.

Hey Randy, here's an idea for ya... where those 2 tiny's butt up together, as they are in this video, if you leave a 2' wide gap between them that space could be a super-nice area to put in two-closets (one on either side of the doorway)! I did that once when I put two places together and man it was really smart! And looked great too.

After rewatching this video, perhaps a more detail understanding of what the solar system will be in the home visually? Washer, washing machine, what type of compost toilet, water heater system, refrigerator and I may want to add a mini fire place maybe 8x20? Do to the fact that solar system will be the heart of the home for the off grid in Crystal NV, I need to know what the system can handle for the hot & cooler weather. Knowing this solar system info will help me to know if I want to hook up my own system or use ur's Randy. I will need a main home first, maybe an add a box too depending cost for everything? What about making an Icredibox to Incredibox docking module? Make the addabox with a right side door. The docking module will connect the incredibox to the Addabox by the original doors. The docking module module will have a door to enter and the original doors will connect to the docking module. This can be done without changes to the original Incredibox and Addabox.

I was thinking the same without the term docking module (which is great by the way). Have a metal threshold that's more like an extruded rectangle tube. It can be screwed to the doorway of each box and it'll create an airtight 'bridge' between the two. It'd only need to be maybe 8" long, depending on the size of the overhang of each box.

Randy just a quick suggestion for speading up the add a box process for your customers and you. Most people will be adding on to the end so why not make the end of the add a box come with a door on the end already including a 4" extended door jam so that the customers can just cut out any window in their incred I box and connect them together easily. Simplicity encourages sales. Love your new idea.

One and a half baths seems more reasonable. Where shower is put a large closet which is badly needed or optional w/d to buy from you u install. PLEASE leave window in the bathrooms. Will u include a water heater for add-a-box? How about a small screened covered deck between homes rather then all that sheeting? Easier to remove to travel. It can even flip up to transport on one home have the roof fold down on other box maybe a canvas roof?

If you put flipped the shower and toilet, no kitchen, and extended the wall over from where the water heater is. Then across from the toilet and water heater, you could have both a toilet and vanity. Under the water heater, you could have your washer/dryer. Add a door for a fully enclosed full bathroom.

Love this idea, and love you opening other tiny home communities in different parts of the country. If you got a parcel of land somewhere in the Greater Boston area and opened a tiny house community, I would definitely buy an 8x20 incredibox and spend the next 5-10 years living there. You'd definitely have to charge more than $200/month, but even at $500-$600/ per tenant, it would still be an incredible deal all around.

So... Question! I love the idea of being able to add a box. But... if you have 2 bathrooms how would hookups to water look like beings they are actually 2 separate units. Wouldn't there have to be a solution for the water hookup? Or actually all the utilities really...

The Pex supply plumbing is already there. If the Add-A-Box drain is relatively close to the side on the Incred-i-Box where the drain is then all it would require is a angled pvc connection below the ADD-A-Box & then piping over to where the Incred-i-Box drain is. Add some skirting & heat tape on that piping as a freeze proof drain.
