I was a sophomore in college and had just got home that afternoon and saw the horrible news on tv. RIP Payne and God look over his family.

Recently read that the plane flew on auto pilot for 4 hours before it crashed. Such a sad story.

The day I went it was pouring down rain and cold. I need to go back to this gravesite again on a clear day. I also need to make it to the cenotaph at his family grave plot. Great video! And such a tragic story and ending to such a iconic golfer and person.

@@McAndrewTravels I believe in Missouri where his family plot is. It’s the place where Lamont at large went for his Payne Stewart video. A lot of people think that’s the location of his grave, but the one that we both went to here in Florida is the actually final resting place. Because many of the pga golfers were present at his funeral, and they were at the cemetery where we both went.

@@goldentickettohistory108 ok yeah, when we were researching his grave we were trying to figure out why Lamont was at a totally different cemetery...now I get it! Thanks!

@@McAndrewTravels yeah, and find a grave doesn’t help much when they show 2 separate graves for him. And I think they finally fixed his one by saying it’s a cenotaph. Plus you wasn’t far from David Spears grave. The second victim of Aileen Wuornos. Maybe 5-6 minute drive from Payne. If you ever come back to Florida and want to cover the locations, I can help.

Another great video, remember hearing about this back when it happened, horrible! Also would have been tough on the f16 pilots with such a helpless feeling!

Thanks! I watched a part of an interview with one of the f16 pilots, and he said basically exactly what you said that he felt awful about being so close but not being able to do anything!

I remember that night. I was in Israel and was watching live footage on our news. I was on my way out to a dance club

Hi Cool People! Nice job on the vid. I watched a vid a long time ago about those F16's following a plane where the windows were all iced up... first time I heard of something like that. Think they said, although probably in a panic, all on board likely passed out from lack of oxygen, and it flew till runnin outta fuel. Sheesh! Ghost plane flyin with those poor folks inside... Stay safe n strong!!

It’s crazy and must have happened very quickly because otherwise the pilot would have been able to drop the plane down in altitude and used oxygen masks. They say though that a person loses the ability to think normally over time when it happens. Can be fast or can take several minutes.
