Thanks for showing us how it’s done ARod. The PPE pan looks great. I like the practical difference of keeping the tranny cooler. Reasonable price for this quality. Since I’ll be DIYing this, I’ll need to find a fluid transfer pump to get it filled from under the motor.

Just to add to arods awesome video a stock pan 10r140 holds a total of 18.1 qts of ULV fluid so if you add this pan it increases to a total of 26.1 qts of fluid that’s insane
@josh67572 жыл бұрын
I put that on my 20 6.7 except mine is the aluminum color. Had mine on for about 35000 miles doing hotshot trucking with it. It most definitely makes a difference in the tranny Temps. It stays much cooler. Never have got the Trans Temps up above 225 even with 30k lbs pulling up the steep grades in the west. I love it!

HOW HOT? ATF should NEVER exceed 225F. If your ATF EVER hits 225F flush & change at your next convenience. And I use the left over fluid to flush the power steering since its the same fluid on my old Crown Vic. I don't trust anyone else to do my transmission fluid service. Most cause I mess up my trans case threads for the pan bolts. 2 bolts are sort of stripped and I put in some standard bolts that at least thread into the case, those 2 bolts must go back into the same hole. Also on my old car it has a torque converter drain bolt so I can drain about another 8 quarts.

I don't understand why some of their pans have a place where you can bolt down the magnet from the stock pan to the new one but I noticed this one has no place for a magnet. I really like the job of that magnet. I guess one could go out and find a magnetic drain plug for it and that'll fix that.

I want to know how much it lowered trans temps. My truck trans temp is around 210 at 75 mph on flat ground.

Love your channel but rarely see you use a torque wrench. I knew some mechs that could almost torque to the exact torque but having countless ford’s, they do have bolts that’ll break easily.

Are those transmission filter bolts also Valve Body bolts? Would want to make sure they were close to the same torque going back in.

97 inch lbs and they go thru the main control to bolt it to the case there are 13 bolts total that bolt the main control to the case

Didn't realize the days of the tranny fluid dipstick was gone too. Does the extra fluid capacity really serve a function? Or is it just that greater cooling area cooling more fluid? I mean it's still the same surface area. Doesn't really compute with me. You're still running through a cooler in the front. Seems to me that the same pan, just a little bit larger to clear the inner fins would work the same?

I understand the benefits of servicing your trans a little earlier that what Ford recommends, but the manual says 150K. Is every 30k excessive? My truck is at 60k and I have not serviced it yet. I definitely do NOT plan going 150K, but was thinking of doing it soon. Thats what brought me to this video. Has anyone done an oil analysis to justify spending the money.

Chump change compared what its gonna take to repair that thing bruh

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod your right but how far do you take it? With this same logic we should all be doing 2k mile oil changes. 30k is 5 times the manufactured recommendation. So with a 10k mile oil change recommendation from does, we should be doing. 2k mile change. We know that’s not needed because I believe there has been oil analysis completed to prove its not necessary. Has anyone done this with trans fluid? Or maybe trans fluid doesn’t work that way? These are just questions that I have. Should we be doing diff amd transfer case changes every 30k? Those are all very expensive to replace as well and are relatively inexpensive to service yet I don’t think anyone is doing diff service that often.

Thanks Arod. Another great video. Looks like a nice casting, but comes at a bit of a steep price. Thou I suppose it’s cheaper than an early failure on a trans. Where’d or how did you make the nifty pump jug? Oh… can I use just one of the 13mm studs to hold the wire loom? Or does the flange on the new PPE pan interfere with the stud flange? Not sure why you didn’t use one stud there

Just ordered the pan. I want to do the oil pan next then the rear diff cover. You have a link to the oil pan video?
