Cargo capacity on my 17 F-250 is only 2,100 pounds the F-350 is like double around double 4,100 pounds so towing a 5th wheel is way safer and you can tow way more.

He’s got the 10000gvw version. My 10800 f250 with the camper spring option has the 5 springs and beefier rear end like your 350. Advice for folks looking to tow, seek units that have the ultimate Tow package and the camper spring options. (10800gwv) Now for the controversial part, one can tow a trailer, very very light 5th wheel with a f150, but that is a very rare configuration. (payload gets you). A10,800 f250 can tow an 11k 5th wheel, but to your point a f350 srw would be much better, safer, and have excess available payload. Now if one is towing a 5th wheel weighing 14k or more .. then get the dually. My 2wd, 10.8k f250 shortie has 240lbs available payload when hitched to our 11k 5th wheel. (Cat scale weighed) F350 dually on order since we’re planning to upgrade our 5iver to a cougar midbunk soon

Just an FYI, adding springs to a 250 will not increase it’s official load capacity, which is really all that matters. It would only help carry the rated load better. I got a 250 because I wanted the drivetrain mostly.
@MH-wo4be4 жыл бұрын
Right, the "certified" weight is what Ford says it is. But if ALL parts are the same is there really a difference??? Ford takes some liability in adding more capabilities and as such adds $$$ to the price to cover that. That is the price difference between F250 and F350. Look at the "camper package " offered in the past. It literally was a $900 charge for nothing but a "certificate".

@buckhorncortez4 жыл бұрын
@@IneptSoldier Where I live, registration costs are determined by actual weight of the truck and not GVW rating. This makes the registration cost difference negligible. If the registration is based on GVW rating, the cost difference would be more, but not a huge difference.

One thing Ive noticed, at least in the dually trucks like a 350-450......the 450 has a much tighter turning radius due to its wider front axle and design. We have a few of each at work and I much prefer the 450 for that reason. But then again not everyone needs all that capability and cost.

I can't speak for your trucks but if you have an older truck and you're living in Minnesota I have 250 put one ton axles and one ton springs on it. My 250 has seven spring pack in the back. But why do this because registration costs. Here in Minnesota it's a vast difference between a 3/4 ton which is the same as a half ton for 40 bucks a year. But a one ton and up 2 or 300 a year. I basically have a f350 it cost me almost 10 times less a year to register. And I have F350 badges. My truck is just as capable as a true f350. I have a Dana 60 in the front and I'm not sure what's in the back but it has full floating axles. I bought it this way and have no complaints 7.3.

The main difference for 250 to 350. Is the hydro brakes vs vacumm brakes, the 350 has a larger axle, and then the front spring/rear springs. The Tremor mixes it up with the same from springs, but the 250 will have the same rear springs as a 350 and axle. So the only difference with the Tremor 250/350 are the brake system.
