Nice video. Can I give you a helping tune? First off, I remove the hood, wiper cowl and fresh air inlet just as you do. Second, I only remove the shield that sits directly over the clamp. But when I see them rusted out like that, I don't even bother attempting to remove those three 8mm bolts without heating the area cherry red first. Ditto for the one nut on the EGR cooler clamp. The next order of business for me, is to drop the engine by removing the four 13mm bolts (two short on the bottom, and two long through the wheel well on each side for a total of eight bolts). I then drop the engine as far down as it will go, and then temporarily supporting the subframe with the four long 13mm bolts previously removed from the wheel well. I should note that you should also remove the fan from the hub so as not to damage it with the engine lowered. Once the engine is lowered, I simply remove the brake booster vacuum tube completely (one 8mm bolt on the intake and one squeeze and pull connection to the vacuum pump later). I then work with an old discarded exterior mirror glass propped up against the firewall. The only thing I touch on the EGR valve is the two of the four 10mm bolts securing it to the cooler. I don't bother with any of the electrical connections or the mixer tube. Once done, I simply disconnect the coolant hoses exactly as you've done in the video, and simply let the cooler fall out the driver side and down for removal.

Fyi you only need to pull the 10mm bolt out of the turbo heat shield and you dont have to pull the vavle and mixing tube out you can leave the trans breather in just disconnect it from the egr valve assembly i pull the front bumper support on the drivers side to give me more room (I'm kinda fat so) to get at the cooler lines and the two 13mm bolts there after the 10mm bolts are out from the cooler coolant line and the one that bolts the cooler to the head.

Hey arod watch a lot of you videos good stuff, i do a ton of these cooler at the ford fleet dealer I work at and I’ve found a way which I don’t i mind doing them anymore, I put a piece of wood on the cac bracket under the crank pulley and take the four engine cradle bolts out and lower the engine with a pole jack so the crank pulley sits on the wood on cac bracket and holds engine up, Lowering the engine quite a bit like that makes everything on the cooler way more accessible, makes everything much easier and can actually see all the hoses and bolts, I’ve even done the cooler on the ground once before like that, give it a try sometime hopefully it helps you out! Just don’t forgot to bolt the engine cradle back up when done!

Yes I have. My work around is to spray liberal amounts of silicone spray onto the channel where the wiper cowl clips into, and then simply lightly tap the wiper cowl slowly across the entire width when you are ready to reinstall it. I've seen my share of them where the wiper cowls are distorted and/or installed incorrectly and allowing water to enter the engine compartment.

Great video thanks. Can you tell me what the normal range for EOT running flat freeway 70MPH is? My EOT can get up to 230F with ECT around 194F, thus a difference of 36F between EOT and ECT. The specs called for 15C or 27F. Climbing hills EOT can get up to 240F. Is that too high? I just tried backflushing the oil cooler. Seems to help a little but not much. Is EOT operating at that temperature by design or is that too high? Should I try to replace the oil cooler? I brought it to a dealer - they charged me $390 and didn't even test drive to verify it. @@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod How long will this job take me to do in real time? I don't have a shop to do it in, but figured I would put it on ramps so I can get under it. I have a fleet of these.

So is this a decent engine or should I avoid it ? Asking techs who know the real answer. I know techs know the real deal and screw a salesman.

PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod as i scan your videos and read the comments....I think I’ll just buy a gas engine. The diesel technology has not caught up yet. EGR, DEF issues all over the place. Codes and more codes. I’ll just buy gas. 👍🏼
