Hi Jeremy…thought I would help shed some light on this cookbook. Her handle is Love and Lemons and she is on all the social media platforms. The name of the vegetarian cookbook is Simple Feel Good Food. She has two other cookbooks - An Apple-To-Zucchini Celebration of Impromptu Cooking and Every Day. You reviewed her newest cookbook published in 2023. My husband gave all three to me for Christmas bcz I had been making some dishes from her website. He really liked them. But this month I discovered your channel and have upped my game to WFPB. Hubby not so much. But your ways are teaching me how to modify her recipes. I think Jeanine Donofrio’s cookbooks are creative, mostly healthy vegetarian (not vegan), and have clear instructions with beautiful pictures of the colorful food. Thanks for this review and honest opinion, I agreed with everything you said. You are my new teacher. 🙌🥳

I really liked when you guys rated each recipe. You should do that every time. A good hack for swapping coconut milk: blending regular unsweetened milk with unsweetened coconut flakes. I have a chocolate-tahini cookies recipe and I used them for ice-cream sandwiches with my Ninja Creami ice cream ! Yum ! I love when you smile sheepishly to the camera ! So sweet ! Deconstructed lasagna is awesome ! Yay team fruit cake here !!! It is so funny seeing Annie hate something then right after Woolie loves it ! I love you guys ! Do you think the carrot bars could be made to be school safe ? It seems like a good choice for a snack. Maybe even in ball form.

To be honest - we recorded this one a little while back, so the rating system wasn't part of it - we'll be doing it moving forward - glad you liked that :) Team Fruit Cake! Oh - the carrot cake might be better frozen - BUT you could make a carrot cake energy ball just using dates and carrots and some oat or whole wheat flour and spices in a food processer

Hello Jeremy! this is Raquel sending much Love and Peace from Upstate NY. May I suggest using Tinkyada (made in Canada) Brown Rice lasagne noodles and instead of boiling them I just soak them in a 1/2 sheet pan (not overlaping) in boiling H2O for 20 min or so. They'll be soft, pliable and will finish cooking during baking while mantaining their shape beautifully. Just found your channel a couple of weeks ago and am obssessed. :)

As always, I love your cookbook review videos. The pancakes, veg soup, tahini cookies, skillet lasagna and carrot cake bars as a special treat look yum and I’d try making them. I placed an order in for the book at my library. Your family is so supportive! People think you need oil for flavor but you do not. It’s a habit they need to change for healthier meals. I’m with Woolie in that I love soup! Cathy Fisher has a simple cauliflower soup that I make on repeat. I’ll post it on our membership site. I also love the humor in your videos. I have lol many times. The “processing” is funny and your grinning at the camera cracks me up. It seems rough to work with a non vegan book. Good job! 👏👍❤️

Her website comes up in the top three nearly every time I search for a veg recipe and I do the same thing-a lot of adaptations. No shade because I've made exactly one recipe to spec in the last 15 years and needn't have bothered, but I modify hers more than most. Not simply for the vegan aspect but I find most are overly fussy or just not to our taste. I'm rarely anyone's target audience. I agree about the skillet lasagna-mix in the ricotta, make a pink sauce and why waste the more expensive lasagna noodles by breaking them up? Use farfalle and be done with it. That said, I've got one dinner covered this week, thank you! I'd kill for Woolie's thick bouncy hair, it's gorgeous.

It definitely could be a bit challenging for WFPB vegans like us who don’t like to consume oil (especially coconut oil for me) and need to make substitutions. I really appreciate the way you adapt recipes to make them WFPB, which is very similar to my approach, so it's nice to see how well the adaptations worked. I was thinking for that romesco sauce that was too garlicky, maybe roasting or somehow cooking the garlic first would tone it down a bit, or using garlic powder instead of raw garlic. My library has 3 different Love and Lemons cookbooks, so that is part of the longer book title.

I never wrap my roasted peppers and take the black stuff off. I just cool them down enough to touch them and cut them into pieces and either use them right away or freeze them. I was looking forward to this one because I have the book and was curious about yours and your family's thoughts. Fortunately, I've made most of the items you did. Want to know my comments on them? Okay, here they are anyway 😉 With the Tofu Vegetable Green Curry: way too bland and no Thai curry flavours. It needed coriander, cumin, ginger, etc. The skillet lasagna I've made 3 times so far BUT hers is BLAND! (When I read the recipe, that was evident so I naturally added my herbs right off the bat.) She doesn't add a single spice! I add lots of oregano, basil, and sometimes tarragon to give it some flavour. But otherwise, it's a fast, easy dish. I've made one of her tahini cookies (the Trail Mix version) and we really liked them -- we especially like the tahini flavour that comes through. The very reason I bought this book was to get one recipe in it: the freezer carrot cake bars. I know. Anyway, they are great and I'll be serving them to my book club next time I get to host. Overall, with the cooked recipes I find she has good ideas and combinations but very bland. If a person adds spice and herbs, you're golden. May I recommend a recipe that you should try in her book? The Lemony Celery Chickpea salad. We've had it a couple times; I even served it to company and they really liked it. Thanks, as always, to you and your family.
