They're cuboid rather than actual cubes. Of course cuboid also describes nearly every other PC case too. The difference seems to be that cube cases are closer to cubes than tower or desktop cases.

@Frikgeek
@Frikgeek 10 жыл бұрын
If you're running a 1080p monitor then HDMI, DVI, and Displayport will have the exact same performance as they're all digital. VGA is analogue and will always be inferior. However, as you're pushing resolutions above 1440p HDMI and single-link DVI simply won't work(you might get corrupted colours because the cable can't keep up with all the graphical data). Almost every monitor comes with a DVI cable, so you should use that unless you have a really good reason not to.

In my opinion, the following criteria are the ones that matter when classifying a case: 1. Compatible motherboard size(s): this is the most important one, since this is the one that consumers are the most concerned about (will my E-ATX motherboard fit in this case?). 2. Motherboard orientation: will the motherboard be lying horizontally, or will it be standing vertically? This is the most important factor when it comes to a case's general aspect (towers versus cubes/htpcs). (3. One can also argue that some htpc cases and other small form factor cases use an external power supply and this can be a pretty big deal breaker for some people.) While everything else is mostly a feature, these can be very important for consumers. For example, - Does the case have separate compartments for the motherboard and power supply (plus other stuff)? Are these compartments side-by-side or one one top of the other? - What fan or radiator size and number can fit on each panel (top, front, left and right sides, back and bottom)? - What GPU size can it fit (and without getting in the way of cable management)? - What radiator-plus-fan (air cooling solution) size can fit on the CPU (and without forcing you to remove a side or top fan or generally blocking air flow in the case)? - And many other questions... The general lack of standards when it comes to cases can be attributed, I think, to a (partial) lack of transparency. If you browse through a few case manufacturer websites, you'll notice that some information is often omitted (like the internal dimensions of a case, which is important in order to figure out what cooling solution can fit in it) in favor of more flashy features like "RGB!!!". While I like the customization that those features can bring, in my experience, manufacturers often use them to mask flaws or a general lack of build quality. P.S. English is not my first language, so forgive me if something is not appropriately worded.

One thing I have noticed is cases have gotten wider to hide wires under the motherboard and fit giant cooling towers and they've gotten longer for front fans and I think also due to the bottom mounted power supplies & HDD bays. It used to be if you had a giant graphics card, it could run almost the full length of the case, but now the graphics cards are more toward the middle of the case and can run into the 5 1/4 bays. Having said that, the options are much greater now and some of the SFF cases + that ridiculously small ITX form factor allow you to make a hella small powerhouse of a PC.

Jonathan Green Yeah, mid towers can support two way SLI/Crossfire with large video cards and even more with smaller form factor cards, especially with next gen constrictions and confusion we may see more than two way sli go out of style, or SLI in general. Either way I think SLI is just a dumb waste of money.

Generaly I try to only use super towers for my personal machine. My hands are large and they're just so roomy and nice to work in.

Dont make my same error buying a sff case. If after you want to add a GPU it will be hard to find a low profile.

I did a PC case swap, I bought a Sharkoon T9 MIDI ATX PC CASE for my crappy Dell Inspiron 660 hardware. With a GTX 760 msi and a Corsair CX500 Power Supply. I know nothing about PC's... but my upgrade was successful once I realized Sharkoons shitty manual didn't say anything about the LED fans needing only one connector to work.

This is so outdated now. Now cases have 0 5.25 inch bays, 2 3.5 inch bays and support for 1 GPU...
