really love my LG OLED monitor, i still keep my Predator X34 for my productivity but for gaming and movies, HDR + OLED is godsend

I'd share my thoughts and experience. 2022 I bought an LG 48" 4K OLED 120Hz TV, the idea of making it as a Main PC monitor. It was priced at £750 At that time it's just wow. It still is. Better than the other non OLED TV at my place. Shiny gloss panel so it has reflections but it wasn't an issue. The issue would be in some games it's hard to play because it's hard to run certain games at 4K. Fast Forward this month. I bought the MSI 271QRX QD OLED 360Hz at £799 sale. Similar to the LG the monitor is thin, good colors, true blacks. It's good it's oled. The difference is that the MSi one is 27" good for desktop set up not too big. It's 2K instead of 4K so easier to run and finally 360 Hz. Honestly the 360hz really is not needed. Unless if you play at super low settings on easy to run games like csgo or overwatch etc. So really it's for competitive games. Cause outside of that other games are hard to run and won't even break 150 fps. And coming from an LG OLED TV. There was just no "wow" factor from the MSi anymore because I already experienced OLED screen on the LG TV. It's still a nice monitor but not so much wow. Maybe for people who have yet to try OLED gaming. And finally the price is definitely very high. I can justify buying a GPU at the same price. But for a monitor at £899 original rrp, and 27" 2k is too much. I would suggest just wait for OLED to be readily available. It will drop in price eventually.

It is so hard to choose right now. I have a 4080 and have an lcd 1440p monitor. Prices for the 1440p OLEDs are dropping but the 4k 32 inch oleds are out now. The prices for the new ones are insane. $1300+ on a 32 inch display is crazy…. And they aren’t even in stock.
@sircartdark7 ай бұрын
4K would obviously pair very well with your 4080. I’m not giving you any advice or anything since I’m also trying to look for a oled monitor to pair with my 7800 XT. People do say that 1440p OLED monitors are pretty close to 4K LCD monitors, which I don’t really understand, so they could be reaching. I guess it also depends on what you do with your PC. I wanna know what monitor you’ll choose though, if you do.

@@sircartdark Hey! I ordered the Gigabyte AORUS FO32U2 from B&H today. It uses the same Samsung display panel as many of the other monitors and is supposedly brighter than the Alienware and MSI with better HDR. Also one of the few monitors that is in stock.

Watching this while I just got an LG C3, it's awesome. The size is the main reason I got it, if not, I would've waited for QD-OLEDs. Nevertheless, with the price of QD-OLEDs being much higher, despite being much smaller, made me just want to buy the LG C3 now.

i love OLED TVs and OLED handhelds (switch, steam deck, phones), but for some reason i just don't like OLED monitors. desk gaming just isn't very comfortable, especially for someone who likes to use controllers. and for content consumption, a QD-OLED TV at the same price would be better. the average person should only really get an OLED monitor if mainly game on your PC and want the absolute best image quality and will utilize HDR properly (which many PC games just straight up don't support unless you use RTX-HDR or special K)

from my understanding the woled is more resistant to burn in than qdoled exactly because it has that additional white led, so i'd happily trade a bit of brightness for that.

Why there is still no 4k oled monitor for 27 inches and below. Laptops already have 4k at 14 inches. Why manufacturers not making it.
@phantom4987 ай бұрын
Because people who buy 4K monitors probably tend to prefer bigger screen sizes. Same reason there is absolutely 0 OLED 24 inch monitors. Or any 24 inch 1440p monitor that is 240 hz and up. Manufacturers deem there isn’t enough demand.

@@XeqtrM1 i think you mean micro led. Micro oled doesn't exist, oled already has every pixel as an individual light so in that sense it can already be seen as micro. Micro LED is just an individual led light for every pixel wich is years away.

My gaming PC is still using regular IPS monitors, but my current laptop is OLED and it's really incredible. Even at 1080p 60Hz, it looks so much better than most IPS screen. However, I'm not sure if the current pricing makes much sense. An OLED monitor with the same specs as an IPS one (1440p 240Hz) will cost AT LEAST double the price and while it looks great, I don't know if it's worth it. Even my laptop, they had to make some sacrifices to make the price competitive, it's all plastic while most laptops in that price range (around $700 on sale) will be aluminium (or at least better plastic, this one feels really cheap), uses an older Zen 3 Ryzen instead of Zen 4 (and AMD doesn't make it easier since it's still a Ryzen 7000 series) and the hardware itself is pretty meh (the keyboard is okay, the speakers are pretty bad, battery life is decent, but not great, RAM is soldered, etc.). Right now, you still need to either sacrifice something (build quality, resolution, brightness) or pay way more. I'm really excited on what it will look like in a year or two however, even in the last 2 years, the prices went way down, if OLED manage to be only 25% more expensive than IPS, it'll still be a no-brainer (and even at 50%, it would be a solid option, but at 100% right now, not so sure).

I have a 28” 4k 144 Samsung g70a and a 27” 1440 240 g7 I basically use the 4k strictly for discord because I still believe gpus still aren’t quite there yet to run 4k on max settings and get high frames still. I have a 7900xtx and will probably wait to upgrade in the 6090/9900 depending on how the 5090 performs but plan to go with a 1440/360 oled this fall. I still believe 1440 is the ideal resolution and I don’t notice enough of a visual difference between the two when I’ve tested between the two and have better than 20/15 vision lol.
@rickystafford74338 ай бұрын
1080p to 1440p is a huge jump. It's hard going back to 1080p. Technically, percentage-wise, the jump from 1440p to 4k is even larger, but there are diminishing returns just like with refresh rate. I think 4k is totally doable, especially with DLSS and frame-gen. The problem is it's just so expensive to get into it still and we're still probably 2-3 gens away for 4k to be the new sweet spot.
@josephoverstreet55848 ай бұрын
@@rickystafford7433 oh for sure the refresh rate has diminishing returns but the higher you are, the lower the latency and that’s big on the shooter games. I’d rather have 1440 with 300+ frames for the lower latency vs 4k and 200 for maybe a slightly better looking picture. But yes, 3 more generations at least before 4k is the new sweet spot is what I think as well. Frame gen is awesome for the single player games and I’d use that feature if I played those games more often. I have so many games from the last three years that have came out that are single player games that I haven’t touched outside of setting the game up or character lol
