Heck, those chips doesn't even cost that much and both AMD and NVIDIA is unwilling to add more. Fuck them. Also not being able to export to China shouldn't mean fuck other markets and underperform. If that logic goes then there's no point in making 5090 or it would be a 4090 with different name on it. If you make a good product, it will sell fine even without export. Honestly I don’t know why these companies doesn’t do something similar to preorders or just a put you in a line when you make in order. Like, you might have to wait for the next restock but I feel if you put in an order they could easily track when you made it and who you were ahead of and behind of and just give you your product based on that. Like it might take a few months for it to get to you as they restock, but it should be pretty easy for them to get it to you.

If we would go after the spec leaks, the 5090 is double the raw power of 5080 and double the vram. They literally can put the 90 class at double the price and still be a better deal due to the bandwith and other specs over the 80 class

Just built my first gaming pc! I'm coming from a Precision 3640 which had a i7-13700 and an RTX T400, and while it was fine for low res gaming on my 4k monitor, it couldn't play Jedi Survivor and other games at all. I ended up going with a 9800x3d over the 7700x since I was by my state's Microcenter for a day when it was in stock and I'll be needing some of its better multi-threading performance. I got the Sapphire Nitro+ 7800xt to pair with it. Since my 4k monitor is locked at 60fps, it'll do me well for awhile, and I can downgrade the graphics quality for several years before needing to upgrade my gpu. My little brother is very jealous since he's the one who got me into gaming in the first place and he's rocking my old college XPS 15 9570. I hope to help him build his first pc when he goes off to college in the future.

Thats my plan, just hard trying to decide what gpu to get. I want to play games around 144fps 1440p. 5080 doesnt seem like will be worth until ti/super versions. 5090 too expensive and 4090 2nd hand is still almost msrp so 4090 too expensive aswell. So im thinking 5070 or 8800xt or maybe a 7900xtx

Microcenter locations seem to be getting regular shipments of the 9800x3d. The Philly location had 25+ that sold out slowly over the weekend, and they just got a new shipment of 25+ today. You can only buy in person and you cannot have one held for you. I gambled on a hour and a half trip through Friday rush hour traffic and got one. They didn't sell completely out until Monday morning.

So many people complain about not being able to get the 9800x3d. I used the hot stock app on my phone (did not purchase a subscription) and I got notified when it went into stock across multiple retailers. I setup my accounts before hand. I was able to secure two 9800X3Ds within two weeks of it being released (1 from Amazon and 1 from Newegg). Built a new pc around it. Glad I decided to do a 9800x3d/4080 super build with the specs of the 5080 coming at 16gb of vram.

i will never buy an nvidia card again. they are getting too egregious with their pricing lately, and not just nvidia, amd are doing it as well with their flagship x3d chips, i will never buy one of those either, until they come down to a reasonable price. i think even if intel is only decent, at that price point people won't care too much, and the b580 outperforms the 4060 in a lot of games, and is cheaper, with more vram

Amd builds (cpu and gpu) are really good for other operating systems (notably nobara when it comes to gaming). You said in your video that you would never recommend for anyone to build a 9800x3d with a 4070. I also dont play AAA games and care only about hitting my 240fps in every game i play, no matter what graphic setting/frame generation setup I have to use for it. My goal is to simply be able to play ARPGs like diablo 4 and path of exile 2 at a stable 240fps at 1080p with high settings or maybe esports games at 480fps 1440p in the future. For my use case - do you still think this build makes no sense or would it add up for this situation?

18:33 @MormonDude - Intel had gaming cache in 2015 (i7 5775-c, Broadwell) but killed it off in 3 months with Skylake (which regressed in gaming badly btw). It wasnt until 9900k that they actual beat tuned i7 5775-c in any game that had it's assets fit into the cache (was a 128MB monster cache). They killed it off bc it beat the next 3 architectures they had road-mapped out and had already designed. The cache was supposed to be a boost to the iGPU, Gamers actually discovered that by disabling the iGPU the cache then boosted cpu/memory performance by a LOT. Understandable why they nixed that thing, but them not keeping that tech or at the very least that concept in their pocket was dumb dumb dumb.

But in order to make a real splash it would have to sell millions of units, and they don't have the money for that. Not after their track record. Also I know. A consumer is a consumer. But a consumer will be a consumer 5-7 years in the future too, when he buys his new rig. So. He spent 50$ less today, getting a 250$ B580 instead of an RX7600XT, but in 7 years from now, he'll spend 500$ more on a 9060 because Intel went bankrupt and nVidia has 95% market share. Pat Gelsinger also stopped the development of Beast core. That was supposed to make way for much more powerful processors as well as eventually something called rentable cores. The later was supposed to be a configurable design where the cores could be reconfigured by the users choice or by the programs demands. Don't know the details but apparently it could either be configured as a host of efficiency cores or something like for E-cores would be combined to act as a Performance core. This would make it possible to configure the processor for the current load of either a lot of light processes or configure it as only performance cores for a load of heavy processes. Now the reason Pat gave for stopping this development was interesting. Apparently Intel didn't need any faster cores. Rentable is apparently still an idea that is considered, but the real high performance was not necessary. Instead the resources that had been set aside for Beastcore was to be used for more AI core development. Now I have no idea how the reality of this development looked. The only thing I've heard was from a video where one of the guy's behind the Beastcore project claimed that the first stage was almost ready and they were almost ready to tape out the first Beastcore 1, but it would never be done now. Beastcore 2 which was to support Rentable cores had been pretty far in the development. But again, I have no idea about what the really happened with Beastcore or if it was as radical a performance increase as they claimed. Rumors are fun, but it's hard to sift the data and the signal to noise factor is really high.

This video shows a admittingly not great comparison between a 5600x and a 9800x3d with a 4070 super and at 4k he is showing double the fps (kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5OWnHyHqceXiqs). There is nothing wrong with going cpu heavy when we keep seeing popular games necessitate it.

I don't bother with getting in line for any brand new tech and most definitely NOT immensely expensive single components such as GPU's that might suddenly be outdated in a way within a couple years when replaced by another gen that has new technology or CPU's that are very hyped but could be plagued with massive problems related to production, etc... I came to the conclusion years ago that there's no need to have every bit of eye candy or 300 fps for a phenomenal cost when a perfectly decent gaming experience is readily available on far cheaper hardware (such as what I already have). There are far better things to invest money in than computer components that will quickly degrade in value, assuming that gear is not necessary for one's work and profit.

"Developers aren't gonna spend the amount of time optimizing for PC that they did 12 years ago"...? Negative time Isn't possible, it's like a law of physics or something.

my rx580 has 8gb of vram, 5060 having only 8gb is an absolute joke

Those rx580's were absolute troopers, but I agree, 8gb barely cuts it today, and vram requirements are hardly going to decrease in the future.

After so many hours of work and saving up, I got all my new pc parts (except for GPU) for a new build just sitting in my room, unable to be used atm. God I can't wait for this card to be released. My current GPU is an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT...

I am waiting for the 9800x3d even though it will be paired with a 4070 Ti Super and my reasoning is this - I primarily want to play CPU intensive MMO games. I am willing to wait for the 9800xd rather than pay the same amount (480ish) for an older 7800x3d

Do I need the 50 series? When can I still play any game on the 4070 ti super in ultra?

"need" no, absolutely not

About to build a PC but was not impressed with what was available- Intel has issues and AMD 7900 was about the best I could find without a super hot CPU. Do you think I am better off waiting for next gen. sometime in 2025? I heard there are some cool AI CPU's coming out as well and also better graphics cards. I feel like today's tech is not a big improvement over the last few years- not next gen yet. In some ways, went backwards, but prices went up. I would welcome your thoughts. I need a PC for some video and multi track music editing as well as basic productivity. I don't game much but I do want to run Cyberpunk 2077- the HD version looks sick.
