I tried it and it sucks especially the mic. If you want a good headset with excellent mic and soundgets the Corsair HS80 wireless. So for I’ve had it and it great. The mic on it is also really good. Also if you want to save money all together just get a cheap wired Razer headset for $30 and get the Hyper X solo cast Mircophone for $30 and you’re all set.

the worst headline I saw about the 7800x3d outperforming the non-x3d 9000 series was "AMD says its best gaming CPU will outperform the 9000 series gaming CPU's" or something to that effect - comparing the 7000 series x3d to the 9000 series non-x3d but referring to them both as "gaming CPUs" without clarifying that difference. It sucks that even generally decent quality outlets, like this one was, have to respond to the incentives for misleading clickbait article titles.

@SpoonHurler

We will need to see how the numbers look with overclocked/PBO values as well because that's where X3D chips struggle because of the heat the memory holds so less power throughput, lower clocks. In mixed use or games that want higher clocks and can't utilize the cache they might compete. Also memory controller will be improved. I want to wait for third party and think it will be very interesting

Well the 9950X3D being a better product than 7950X3D isn't hard to predict, but the question is still WHEN? AMD has not yet said anything about the X3D processors other than basically "Yes, they will be released, some time". My guess is that when Intel releases their new chips AMD may retaliate with the 9000 series X3D chips. All to try to stay on top where games are concerned and to steal some thunder. As for the all cores 3D V cache, well we will have to see how that performs. The thing is that cache content will differ between the two CCDs, thus if a process is moved from a core on the first CCD to a core on the second CCD the cache content will not support that process. Ways to combat this would be to avoid moving processes between CCD or if there were some fast connection between the two caches that allowed cache data to either replicate or be accessed remotely. Now how good any of these would be I can't really guess at. The buss between the caches are what I think is least likely, so most probably there will be an attempt to lock processes to cores on one of the CCDs. This was probably a reason why the processors in the 7000 family with two CCD only had the cache on one of them.
@patsk8872

7800X3D excels in gaming due to the cache. It's actually SLOWER in productivity than the 8-core 7700. The new 9000 series will not have the 3D cache, but not only will be able to at least approach 7800X3D in gaming, but should be way faster in productivity and general computing. That is the choice. If you really ONLY care about gaming and/or you have to build now, pick a current chip that you are happy with. Otherwise I would really wait, and I believe the 9000 series will be awesome.

Thanks, for another informative video, Jason! I'm still rocking a 3700X + 6800XT, and I can play modern games like Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Forbidden West at 4K, 60fps at High settings (native and FSR). My next upgrade will be a 5800X3D because I don't need the latest and greatest, and I like get the most out of my hardware. In fact, I've been playing my PS5 the most as far as recent gaming, goes. SLI and CrossFire failed partly because they were too ahead of their time. The concept of using multiple GPUs for gaming isn't unheard of, but it requires a very fast interconnect as well as skilled programmers/good libraries, things that just were not available when the push for mGPU happened. A real shame, but that's just how things are.
@PCBuilderChannel
@PCBuilderChannel 3 ай бұрын
That's probably true (RE: Crossfire/SLI). I think the incentives issue is the key. There just wasn't an incentive to keep pushing SLI/Crossfire because GPU performance advanced way faster than they could fix the interconnect, so buying a "bigger GPU" just made more sense. Similarly with CAMM2, while the benefits seem obvious over DDR5 DIMMs, I don't think they will be valued enough to spend more on CAMM2 motherboards and modules which will have a huge early adopter tax put on them. Especially given how the fastest gaming CPUs are now X3D where RAM speed matters very little. But we'll see!
@blahorgaslisk7763
@blahorgaslisk7763 3 ай бұрын
@@PCBuilderChannel The SLI and Crossfire tech was quite different to the initial SLI tech developed by 3dfx. Their tech was called Scan Line Interleaving. With two cards each of them processed the even or the odd scanlines. This meant that they had almost exactly the same amount of work to do for each image generated. The Nvidia solution instead lets each graphics card produce odd or even pictures so each other image is delivered by each GPU. if something major happens such as a shift between scenes then the load on the cards can differ a lot. There's also the thing where the game had to be programed to use SLI for Nvidia or Crossfire or it wouldn't work at all. With 3dfx solution there were no such programming necessary. All games using GLint would run in SLI if you had two Voodoo cards and connected them correctly. Now I have no idea if it would have been possible to implement a tech like that in DirectX, Vulcan or OpenGL, so perhaps this shortcoming wasn't avoidable. Having said that even now it is possible to use several GPU to run one game using the latest version of DirectX, but it has to be programed to do so, and the number of users with several high performance GPUs in the same machine is so low that as far as I know there are no games written to use that.
@kirby0louise
@kirby0louise 3 ай бұрын
@@blahorgaslisk7763 Rendering alternate scanlines wouldn't guarantee equal work division, as there's still plenty of tasks that are not dependent on screen space. DX11 does support imGPU, which puts the burden on the driver to split the work. Vendors HATED this because there were ALWAYS bugs and performance problems. DX12 introduced emGPU which put the onus on developers to support multiple cards, but had the advantage of allowing you to mix models, vendors and even iGPUs and no need for special bridges. Unfortunately mGPU adoption at the time was so horrid and the lack of good libraries lead to pitiful support. Apple's M Ultra chips don't fall into many of these mGPU pitfalls, but they're soldered and have an extremely expensive interconnect to allow the two M Maxes to work as a single chip. This doesn't work for DIY PCs Until we solve the interconnect problem mGPU will remain this way
@kirby0louise
@kirby0louise 3 ай бұрын
@@PCBuilderChannel Yeah, agree with you on that. It should be noted that CAMM has benefits outside of performance, and has JEDEC standardization backing, as well as way less programming overhead. I think it stands a much better chance at sticking around than mGPU
@NEZLeader
@NEZLeader 3 ай бұрын
I'd say it was really the ushering of x2 cards that got equal or better performance to using sli/crossfire. For a lot of the time the added memory was not fully utilized and also unless you got higher-end overpriced enthusiast-grade boards the two PCIe x16 ports would be down clocked to dual x8.

Did some 3dmark math a while back and the 7800x3d started to show it's benefits from 7900gre and up. Unless you are going that or above on your GPU selection you don't need the 7800x3d either. And as the consoles age, the PC hardware market has a lot of headroom as it is. You don't need the top end PC parts for any game. Unless you really are in it for just bragging rights. To sum everything up right now, unless you want to go to 4k gaming, you have zero need for top end PC parts for CPU and GPU. And those ridiculous DDR5 speeds are in this same boat. The memory does not effect your performance all that much.

On grand strategy games, not all of them are turn based. Stellaris is basically real time, with the ability to pause and set time to move faster or slower. With Stellaris, you sometimes get a big lag spike when something happens suddenly across the entire galaxy in the late game. In benchmarking Stellaris, it would be less "how many fps" and more "how long was the big lag spike".

Its not at all like it was with am3+ to am4. The value imo is just not there if you already have an am4 system. Im really looking forward to battlemage, i really wanted to get an arc a770 16gb card but at the time and still now they are over ~$300 so i instead got an open box 8gb rx7600 for $220 like a week after launch What really turned me off of am5 was the 7000 series launch and how hot everyone was reporting that it ran. Also i dont like how the 5600x runs, it is always running at its max speed without regard to usage, so idle temps are 45-50 degrees and is only a bother because my room is small so it heats up fast

Sadly the 7800X3D is the more reliable choice due to the issues with the 7900X3D and 7950X3D, that's why you're seeing the prices drop on those. See our 7800X3D build guide we go over their issues there. So I would factor that into your decision

The 5800X3D is on AM4, with DDR4 RAM and a 5-series chipset. The 7600X is about as fast in gaming, but it's a completely different system: different architecture, AM5 chipset, DDR5 RAM. To have the same expectation going from 7800X3D to 9800X is unrealistic because they use the same chipset and the same RAM. And you can safely disregard AMD's new CPU performance claims; they're meaningless, just like Intel's.

I have a 3600x CPU with a 1050 Ti + 16G RAM, planning to get a long time investment, like 5-15 years. Should I wait for the next gen if my goal is to have a relatively low energy requirement or buy now a 7700x CPU + 7900 XT (for the 20G VRAM - so this part needs a lot later upgrade)? I'll probably not use this build' full capacity for now, planning to play (and mod) Sins of a Solar Empire 2 in 4k. Not sure if 32G RAM will be enough or should I go for 64. Hope you (or someone in the comments) can help even with just a few advice regarding this build and purchase.
