3:15. Those "tiny little cables" messed me up because I didn't have them connected correctly. Went back into the manual and read harder. Found out I needed to switch them around. New build fired up and ran like a champ. Thanks for the help!!!

Hey so im having an issue where every light except for the dram which is off is red And when i turn on the pc the first few minutes are fine and the pc runs pretty well but then at random times after around 10 to 35 minutes of the pc being on(specifically if its a video game like tf2 or fortnite) the screen turns off and the cpu fan goes wild! Tip for newbies, if your PC won’t switch on after tinkering from the manual power button on your tower, there is a good chance you probably unplugged the two wires that connect to the actual button itself. This just happened to me while replacing some front fans, and I accidentally pulled on the cable when threading through the old cables from the fans and didn’t notice at the time. Figured it out straight away, but definitely makes your heart race when your PC won’t start up 😂

@@ibrokemyownheart4953 Mine as never thermal throttled... my highest temps was 82c on cpu 80c on gpu while on high demand gaming... I did however install a Noctua top exhaust fan and it helped 2c-3c cooler.

I have tried everything, my only clue is the motherboard FLBHK light (Bios Flashback) keeps blinking. There is a reset button I have held down for 3 seconds no change in the blinking light. I also pulled out the motherboard battery no luck there either the same constant blinking light. The jumper seems to be set in place permanent. Should i try a new motherboard? It is a B450 for a Ryzen 5700x new build.

I had the most random issues with my PC today, i boot up the PC, it always has the sound of the PC powering up, you know, the one where someone put peddle the to metal on a car. It lasted for secs before the PC proceed to boot up normally. but today that boot up sound didn't stop... It kept going on and on, the display looked as if the PC wasn't powered. I can understand if people who buy pre-built systems can make the mistake of plugging in the monitor into the motherboard displayport/hdmi, but someone who knows enough about computers to build it themselves should know that the cable goes in to the graphicscard.

I’ve seen some tutorials that don’t go over that at all. They just build it and show how to get to the bios. So it could happen but rarely bc like you said, someone who knows how to build a pc should know where to plug it in

When it’s a hardware problem, get a Beep Speaker, plug it in, and diagnose which part according to how many beeps you hear. Take your GPU and memory out, leaving the other parts in. If it beeps three times, your CPU and motherboard are good. Next put in one of the RAM sticks, should beep 5 times. Put the other Ram stick, then put the GPU.

Completely new to PCs and your video helped me recognize the meaning behind the motherboard lights. I had assumed that they LOOKED important, but looking closely, the CPU light was red! Very interesting. I just made sure all my connections were solid, and it booted back up again. Furthermore, the display was def plugged into the actual motherboard rather than the graphics card, so I just made a quick switch. Would not have guessed those two to be issues without watching your video...thank you!!!

Great information here, just completed my fourth build and experienced my first boot failure. I was using the RAM, drives and PSU from the previous build, where they worked well. I have to wait till tomorrow to try these steps, but will update this if I can fix it. EDIT: ok, so it's fixed, here's how I got there. I checked over all connections and fired it up again, the EZ debug showed 26 which was confusing because it isn't a listed code, but the time it took to look that up was long enough to realise it was showing the temperature, had it booted and I just couldn't see? Turns out, yes. Out of curiosity I did the opposite of instructions and took my HDMI out of the GPU and put it in the MB, and suddenly there was my bios. I loaded optimised defaults and restarted, couldn't see again, so I moved the HDMI back to the GPU and it showed up, so that was good, but I still couldn't get past bios, it kept going to a blue page saying my PC needed repairing. I then cleared CMOS, and that fixed it, windows started and it was just a case of dealing with apps that didn't like the hardware change. It still has the occasional issue after a restart that the screen is black at the start of windows, but removing and reinserting the HDMI cable fixes this every time, bad cable maybe?

Why would you not clear the SSD beforehand. It is not recommended as you changed to a very different platform so obviously there would be bugs.

@@yCyanx honestly, because it worked without issue the first two times. Considering it worked this time once CMOS was cleared, I'll probably do it again (so much easier when you don't have to reinstall everything). The HDMI issue was just a bad cable too, so that is unrelated.

So a few weeks I turned on my pc and it said my processor was over the temperature, I took out the processor but when I put it back in the pc now turns on along with all the RAM stick and everything on the motherboard but the pc never starts up to windows. My monitor recognizes something being on but stays black. Am I ok with just replacing the cpu or am I wasting money by buying a new cpu instead of a whole new pc?

Had a problem with the computer not booting up at all, or just flashing power until it stopped. If you have the time or need to make your things work, look into how to set up your motherboard as a "test bench", or just the motherboard on top of a box (typically your motherboard box) and slowly adding components and testing them. Anyways, everything came back fine, but screwing the motherboard into the case caused this to happen again. After some more diagnostics, it turns out one of my screws was shorting out the board.

My PC has been shutting down during use. Thought it could be a heat issue but after taking precautions to cool it still happens periodically. This usually only happens while gaming but sometimes during regular use. I've been trying to troubleshoot shoot it and ran into it not booting or possibly cycle booting. It did boot on it's own a few times but would shut down again like before. I don't think it's RAM and it did display with my GPU installed. I desperately need some help please...

Ive managed to reset the a reinstall windows but the problem is still occurring. There is a windows update that fails every time but idk if that’s related. Start somewhere. It really doesn't matter. You can screw up, over and over. If you don't quit. You will win. I usually start by making sure the outlet is "hot". Helps to have a multimeter and the mother board manual.

Absolute legend. Man I have been searching the web for days only to get to dead ends. Having all possible issues laid out and going through them one by one help me fix this issue. For me it was the BIOS after I did as you said and unplugged the GPU it turns out that the BOIS needed to be rest. so I put the updated version of the BIOS in a flash drive and rest the BIOS thanks for the video man I really appreciate it.

I love how you covered so many different trouble shooting tips in this video!! You’ve given me a list of things I can do to try and save my pc 🥲 yesterday I installed a new CPU and SSD into my pc, and the pc would boot up, but nothing would come on the display. We even tried the motherboard hdmi port and nothing. So today we will be testing the different ram ports and individual sticks (something I didn’t realize you could do) and if that doesn’t work, we will be resetting the cmos and bios. My DRAM light is red but will occasionally flash to the CPU light, which tells me the new cpu is fine but maybe the ram is the problem. Fingers crossed, and will update later after we try to do some more trouble shooting! 😁

Enormous thank you for explaining the led issue, I had never imagined that looking at it closely would tell me where the problem came from. In case someone has the "red light" issue on BOOT with a blank screen, try plugging a HDMI cable instead of a Display port. For me that was the trick. I don't know why yet, but at least for now I have entered the BIOS.

Hello PC Centric, I wanted to say thanks for making this video. One of the tips in this video was exactly what I needed to hear to get my PC to start up. I had finally assembled all my parts together to build my first PC. After finally plugging it in, nothing came up on the monitor. While troubleshooting I came across your video. I made the 2nd most common mistake, plugging my HDMI into the wrong port. After I corrected that the bios came on screen. Thanks for the help! You have earned yourself a sub my friend!

Just can’t figure it out I swapped cpu and then swapped back since it was the wrong socket, but when I went to turn back on it simply won’t show any signal to the screen I’ve double checked everything and I just can’t see why. It’s turns on fine but shows no signal

So I had an issue launching games. So tutorials online took me to the bios where I had to change the secure boot settings. Since I changed the setting my pc now doesn't display anything. No debug lights and supplying power to my peripherals but no signal. Any idea how to fix?

I watched 3 other videos before yours trying to figure out where the disconnect was and you were the first person to suggest that the HDMI was plugged into the motherboard and not where it needs be. Thank you for the fix! 😅

Had a power outage. Windows was freezing constantly especially under heavy CPU load. Reseated everything and then Windows wouldnt even boot! I did notice my RGB memory flashing though. Took out one stick and it booted fine and so far no freezes. Looks like a stick is bad and off to find 1 stick of 16GB since I am sick of 2 and having issues. This PC is open case mounted in a virtual pinball cabinet with a subwoofer and bass shaker so the less hardware the better.

I had this problem, i tried for 2 hours straight but nothing worked. Then i tried to see if it was the monitor and took my hdmi cable and connected it to my tv and THAT WORKED so try this if nothing works for you:)

My computer has been working fine up until this morning. The Ram and cooler lights come on but that's it. No fans or any other activity from the computer. Does this sound like a PSU issue?

Upgraded from: Cpu: Fx-8320 Gpu: gtx 960 Motherboard: asus 970 Gaming Aura Ram: 8gb Upgrading TO: Cpu: Ryzen 5 5600x Motherboard: B450m steel legend Gpu: Rx 6600 Ram: 16gb It just keeps boot looping with no display. Swapped every part, returned both cpu and ram sticks just to get new parts but it's still an issue. The power supply works with the old setup. Reseated all the parts and cables, tested 4 ram sticks in each and every dimm slots, removed the cmos for 5 mins. I did notice that the keyboard and mouse flick on and then stays off during the boot sequense. I'm thinking the motherboard is dead and I'm out of money. Any advice on things to try and fix this? Anything at all, please.

I bought a prebuilt pc for Christmas and I don’t have any experience building/repairing PCs. This morning i was playing call of duty and my screen froze and restarted on the spot. So I looked this video up and I saw that my cpu light was red and I turning the powered it off and unplugged and replugged it in. On my monitor it just shows a grey screen and there is a blue circle on my mouse when I move it around. I am scared to touch anything as I don’t want to break anything

My cousins new pc he just built wasnt turning on, and while trying to help him troubleshoot it, i noticed an odd mess of daisy chained cables in the pics he sent and asked him about it. Turns out he had all four case fans connected to the same header. I told him to connect them all to different headers and it booted right up with no problems after that lmao. Just happy it wasnt a more serious issue.

Great video! For me I unplugged the tower and then carefully removed the battery from the motherboard. Pressed power a few times to discharge anything residual and waited about 5 minutes. I replaced the battery and it booted up allowing me to look at the core menus including the bios.

I was sure I wasn't going to learn anything new but decided to watch this video either way. I was aware of everything here except for one thing: I had no idea you can use the Reset CMOS pins while the computer is off! The way I did it was to touch them with the screwdriver while the machine is in BIOS, then watch as it shuts down and restarts with the BIOS settings reset to default. Doing it with the machine off sounds safer, now that I know I'll try that after an upcoming BIOS update. Cheers!

What an incredibly timely video - The universe has spoken lol Earlier today I just completed my first build in over a decade (before RGB was really a thing). Plugged in, PSU switch on.... RAM lit up, but absolutely nothing else... Waited for 30 seconds and then shed a tear. Unplugged. Then, literally within minutes I got a notification for this video - no joke. Watched it and realised that I hadn't pressed the case power button loooooool - All fixed and we are golden :D

Let me contribute by adding one thing not mentioned here: With the latest version of some BIOS-es, graphics cards may no longer detect the monitor properly when CSM is enabled. If you have an EFI OS go into the Boot settings of your BIOS and disable CSM first thing. Also make sure your DisplayPort cable has pin 20 disconnected by design otherwise the monitor and graphics card will short-circuit one another, I may have burnt my old graphics card before just finding out about this last week and getting a new cable.

Over the years U=I have built many pcs. But I am diappointed in the documentation (or lack of) Eg the CPU has a trainglel on it - but there is never a really visible triangle on the mother board My mboard has 4 RAM slots and it does not really tell me which ones to use - I have two sticks My motherbaord has two M2 slots and once again I am not sure if I have used the right one - do they both work ? And those front panel connetors are such a pain - especially as they hard to see and get at. I now have an intertesting night ahead! Thanks

Could someone please help me? I was playing on my computer and then i got a blue screen and now my monitor won’t work and yes I’ve tried rebooting it and reconnecting some loose wires but nothing works and no I haven’t begun cleaning the RAM or any of those things. Could someone please give me an alternative way of fixing? I don’t wanna buy another PC. I’m having an issue with the debug mother board lights. When I first power it on dram pops up red for a little then it goes vga and boot and those 2 lights stay on. I tried changing the ram into each slot, I tried making sure nothing is in the slot did the put one in every slot and then tried another stick. I tried taking out the graphics card and blowing it off I tried dusting out of the graphics card port itself but still nothing. Please help
