Q: How do I order a new battery?
A: You can search for your exact model number and the word 'battery' or you can look up the part number that should be on your battery. HP part numbers look like this; 752237-001
Q: If after all these steps, its still showing the same error, what do I do?
A: If after all these steps, your battery is still not charging, then I would assume that you need to replace the battery. Let me know if you would like assistance finding one :)

Hi..really informative video. Let me get to the point. I have OMEN by HP Laptop 15-dh0xxx. A week back while i was working on the laptop the usual ''connect your charger'' message popped up when the battery ran below 20%. As instructed i connected the charger however the battery still kept draining untill it was empty. I then went online from another laptop and HP support suggested to press the power button for more than 15 sec. This would result in hardware reset. and the battery started charging back when i switched on the laptop. Now the problem is that this is happening quite often and i really dont know the reason. could your shed light on this and how to resolve it permanently ?

I usually purchase my parts on Ebay, Amazon, etc. Good cheap used stuff usually. You can search on those sites or another one of your choosing for 'HP 255 Battery' or 'HP 255 Power Adapter'. For the Adapter, just make sure the Volt and Amp values match what your computer is rated for. You can usually see that under the computer. For the Battery, there should be a Part Number that will look like this '593553-001'. If you can locate that number on your current battery, it will be easier to search for that exact part number :)

My HP laptop had the original charger, always charged fine, I’ve had it since 2017/2018… just in the last day or so though, my laptop turns on when it’s plugged in, but the battery area only says 0% & plugged in, but not charging. I did the update check & you’re right! It said my system was up to date in the settings, but when you actually press the button to check, there were TWO additional updates that needed to be downloaded, so I let it restart instead of waiting. Hoping this is only a minor system error. 🙏🏻

Hi, thanks for the video! I have an HP Spectre 360 that just charges for a moment when plugged in then stops. It's the original charger plus I tried my daughter's charger and does the same thing. It charges and everything is kinda ok. the only issue is my hp support assistance don't show that a battery is connected and sometimes when the battery is showing it has about 30% left the laptop automatically shuts down and when i have to restart i have to plug the charger in cause the battery was actually at 0%. Your charger could now be starting to go. Its always best to replace parts as they break instead of relying on other parts to pick up the slack. You can test your charger here; kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3PLpIl-nsmYfac. I would also replace the battery asap.

I got a refurbished 2017 EliteBook from Ebay. It won't keep charging. It stops in less than one minute, then I have to unplug and re-plug it in. It charges a little while, then stops again. There is no battery to take off on this. I'm not sure this is even the correct charger for it because it has an adapter down to the proper size for the port. This is BS!!!! Should I just return it?

I would definitely return it. With any DIY repair, your using your time and risk causing further damage. No reason why you should have to fix or purchase parts for a computer that should be working

After watching this & the other video on "how to fix any laptop, won't turn on...", I'm more than certain my Probook 440Gi's battery is dead! Charging stucked at 56% Laptop goes off when power adapter is unplugged! Checked and installed all updates. Checked & changed power adapters Did the static test with power adapter & battery; worked with adapter, didn't come on with battery. Replaced CMOS battery (apparently that was dead too). Now, I'm looking to replace the battery! 😪 Somehow, weirdly, HP PC Hardware Diagnostics won't run checks on the battery & adapter, while Windows still reads battery life, no issues. 😁 Thank you between 👍

Hi there, awesome video but I still have persisting issues... Battery detects, charger writes "plugged in" but the battery level keeps coming down, till shut down..I removed the battery and it switches on so Adapter is Ok,I tried everything and even bought a new battery but it only charged after I totally removed and reinserted the motherboard.. Charged until about 30% then depleted till shut down(while connected) , removed board again and reinserted, charged until 50% while in use, then depleted again till shutdown... Im not removing this motherboard again for an hour charge🤬... Any ideas?

It could be a incompatible driver issue. If all the updates are processed, try deleting the battery ones. Restart the computer. See if that help. If so, you may need to turn the updates off so as not to update that one.

After following a couple of your other videos, I replaced the SSD on my son's HP Pavilion 15z-cw100 and then loaded Windows 10 on the new hard drive. That works (thanks), but now I'm trying to figure out why his laptop's battery is not charging, which seems to be a new development. I installed as many updates as I could, but there are still two outstanding, as they will not install until the battery is charged to 40%. And it's at 0% and will not charge. The laptop is powered when plugged in, but shuts down as soon as the AC Adapter is detached. When I run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows and run "Component Tests" for the adapter and battery, both result in "PASSED". When I run HP Support Assistant, the "battery check" says that the primary battery needs to be replaced. So despite the mixed test results, it would seem like a replacement battery may be needed. Is it unusual that both the SSD and the battery of this just 2-year old laptop would both fail at the same time? Might the failure of one cause the failure of the other? As far as replacement batteries go, any tips on how to best determine whether one is legit? Seems like many batteries sold on Amazon have feedback from users saying that these "new" batteries don't really hold much of a charge. There are some vendors selling what appear to be genuine HP replacement parts. Will these typically last longer? Are there specific brands or vendors of replacement batteries that you would recommend for HPs? Thanks

Yes, it sounds like the battery needs to be replaced. I recommend brand name batteries if you want the best chance of them working. In my shop, I purchase many generic ones as they are cheaper. However, only about 50% work. Your HP battery should have a part number on it that looks similar to this format; HT03XL. That can help in finding a replacement

my HP is having a problem that maybe caused because I used it too much bassically, the charger is still very fine but the Battery is having a big problem. The Battery can't be charged fully 100% and my HP can only be used while being charge, the HP instantly close if I run 5-7 tabs or just 1 single game. @@gamerhuy3849 1. An overheating computer can be damaging multiple different components if not resolved. First, make sure that the fan and vents are clean and clear. If you need help accessing the fan, let me know what brand and model computer you have and I can help you get inside it. If that does not fix the overheating issue, then try replacing the thermal paste on the CPU and if needed, the GPU as seen here; kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZDNZXqGn9WUrc0. If that fails too, replace the CPU 2. If the computer turns off when the battery is removed and the steps here dont work then yes, you may need to replace the battery

That could indicate an issue with most likely, your charger or battery. In my experience, its likely that the charger is starting to go bad. It may be putting out enough power to charge the battery, but not to charge the battery and run the computer at the same time. You forgot to mention one thing. After you have installed all the updates, check again for updates in case there are updates on the updates. After that check again in case there are updates on the updated updates. I'm not kidding. Microsoft update is weird that way. It doesn't always give you the latest updates straight away, like Linux does.

I own a ton of computers from a ton of different manufacturers. HP, Panasonic, MSI, Alienware, Apple, Compaq. Not a single one of them stops charging below 100% except for the gaming ones that have that option in a gaming profile like the MSI. Bad advice. A battery that only charges below 100% needs replaced.

I have the exact same problem on my HP Elitebook 8460p, battery not detected. But I have the problem in both Windows 10 and various distributions of Linux, most of them Debian based. It happened relatively suddenly about a year ago. It runs just fine on external power but, battery not detected. I suspected a faulty battery so I replaced it. Twice. It didn't help. There was an error message when the battery failed, but I can't recall it now after a year or so. Do you have any idea what the problem might be?

Hello, I purchased a new battery and installed it and got a "Battery Not Detected" problem. I uninstalled the driver and it would pop back up as 255%, but if I unplug the charger from the wall the Laptop instantly turns off. I've tried basically everything. Updated BIOS, reinstalled drivers, held the power button down for 1 minute to static discharge. I even bought a new, new battery to make sure the first new one I bought wasn't defective. Same issue, not sure what to do, any help would be appreciated. For reference, I have an ASUS ROG GL752VW laptop.

Hey man, my hp laptop isn’t charging and I can’t turn it on because it’s out of battery. I’ve tried different outlets and they all don’t work, and when I plug it in the charger light isn’t there. Hi there, I have a HP 240 G6 Notebook. My battery was shutting down on 30%, so i ordered a replacement for HP battery part no. 919700-850. The replacement battery when connected, started shutting down the laptop in the middle of working, now it says no battery detected. I ran an HP battery test, and it says Charge state- Blown fuse (42). I also tried to connect the old battery, and that says 1% charge, plugged in. But its not charging and the moment i remove power cable, it shuts off. Shall i now order another replacement battery? Have you tried the steps seen here? Yes, I would try another battery. OEM HP battery again. If that fails too, you may be looking at a problem with your motherboard battery port :(

I have an HP DV6. It is running Windows 10 and it is updated. I replaced the batter when it stopped taking a charge. I purchased an after market one and that didn't work so I replaced that with an HP OEM battery. That still did not work so I replaced the charger but I still have the issue. The laptop will not turn on with the battery inserted. If I remove it then power it on, it works perfect. I insert the battery while it's on and it used to read 255% charged but now it only reads 0% or "unknown remaining". Everything else works great. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the battery is bad but since you have replaced it a number of times, it could be something related to the motherboard. If the steps in this video didnt help, then you could test the charger as seen here; kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3PLpIl-nsmYfac. But if that checks out to be fine, I would think that your motherboard is not charging the battery at this point.
