I have an HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC - P/N: C8P47AV & Model: 15t-i000 Rev. 1963-100 .... it was rebooted the other day and stopped booting into Windows. Windows 8 Pro originally came on it and I've been running updates to the latest win10 pro updates and it has been running like a champ for years., but now I get an error. "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be a cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. Choose your language settings, and click "Next." 3. Click "Repair your computer." If you do not have this disk, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. Status: 0xc0000185 Info: A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. " it stays on this and powers down my laptop after some time passes. I see a Ctril+I option. "Please install an OS on this hard disk is the message. I tried to check and reset Bios as well. " It has an Intel Rapid Storage Technology screen where it shows 1 physical drive setup with 2 RAID volumes on it. There is a cache volume of 18.6 GB in a RAID 0 stripe (3.8 gb) and cache 18.6 gb) volume in it. It shows the cache volume on the LiteOn data and cache volumes. This is all great advice. What I see is the data volume status. Any thoughts or suggestions that might help? It looks like the data column is bookable and with a status of normal...while the cached stripe is disabled. (Maybe this is why it does not see the data for windows to update..and maybe it is supposed to stay enabled. Thanks in advance however yoy might be able to help. Diagnostics did not fine any issue

Does anyone else get an issue where windows does not give you any options on where to download windows to? (The part of the video where he is deleting the partitions 5:10). I ran an extensive diagnostic check on my ssd on the laptop as well as opened the laptop to remove and put the ssd back in, everything seems fine , but it still shows me nothing to download windows on.

OMG, you helped me a lot....I've been doing everything lately and none works. I been seeing the User Profile failed to load and everything I do seems not to work from system restore, reset, start up repair, regedit, etc...nothing works. My HP 470 G3 with Windows 7 x64 Pro came with a W10 install disc and a Drivers disc as well. I have a spare Samsung SSD to do a clean install. Which order do I format the SSD, run the W10 disc and what about the drivers disc? My computer has an internal Pioneer BD burner drive to read the discs; will this work or will there be drivers issues. I do use an ethernet connection on this computer when using it at my desk.

Hey pc monkey. I did everything you did. booted from the usb and there was like a text prompt with the blinking floor. after a few seconds a windows logo popped up and it started to load. then theres a blackscreen and i saw for a split second there was a tab opened then suddenly a blue screen. Not the blue screen of death, a dark blue screen and I can move my cursor. Not offscreen though. and the cursor is bigger than usual. any fixes?

It is stuck in a “preparing automatic repair loop”. The usb I used is brand new. I formatted it on another laptop then downloaded windows on it again but it is still stuck on the loading screen.

I have a MS account. But some folks say never create one. So what's your advice on that? I'm assuming I can bypass using the existing MS account? Yes/No? @@PC_Monkey Thank You! I have a backup and Image on a external HD. Not sure at about the 4:40 mins what choice I should take? To keep files or to delete the partitions as you did and install the files from the HD later? Is one safer or simpler to do as I'd be assuming the information stored the external HD are good and not corrupted. There are 182 Files and 4 folders. 151 GB of free space remain on the external HD. OK will try the other USB port and see if that registers in Boot Manager. Does it matter if Bios is on Legacy/CMS or UEFI? This doesn't affect what options are available in Boot Manager? Just wondering.

Did you remove the Install Media USB? If the USB is still in the computer, the computer may see it during the restart and begin the install process all over again

How’s it going. I recently watched a bunch of your videos on how to reset hp laptop…. I haven’t turned on my laptop in a few years and just tried. I believe the first thing that popped up was “cmod error restart to continue” I restarted and hp logo and loading circles load and then goes to the gray black screen. Ran a diagnostics and no issues. Now I’m trying to refresh it with still keeping my files as I’m trying to access something. It won’t reset because it says windows drive is locked so I can’t reset. First of all thanks for helping us:)! When i followed the instructions to install windows 10 I ran into a problem. Everything went fine, but got stuck at the "Windows setup process" step. After 15 minutes of nothing (the last thing I did was set the language, time and keyboard language and then clicked "Install now"), I forced the process to stop. I ran the component diagnostic test before and after, but nothing was detected. What could be wrong?

If the diagnostic test shows the HDD as not installed or if it fails, that means it may be loose or bad. Try 'Reseating' the HDD first as seen here in this video. Try the diagnostic test again. If the Windows Key is saved to the motherboard / BIOS, you will not have to manually load it. It will load automatically. Are you seeing your Windows is not activated?

@@PC_Monkey yes correct, during installation setup didn't ask for W10 cdkey so I thought it should be on board, but after finished installation and connected to internet still can't activate...

@@MLK.PaNoRaMa You would need to locate the Windows product key sticker that is on most older computers bottom or back. If you dont have that or any of the original paperwork, you would have to purchase it :(

HELP PLEASE :) I am loving your videos! Thank you for the detailed help! I have a HP Pavilion x360 convertible with a SSD. My computer turns n to "Boot Device Not Found/ Hard Disk 3f0" All tests I have run have passed. I have followed multiple videos now and am up to Installing the Windows 10 ... I have followed all your steps and I am stuck. After I click on the Upgrade: Install Windows and keep files, settings, and applications, I get the following message "The upgrade option is not available if you start your computer using Windows install media. If a copy of Window is already installed on this computer and you want to upgrade, remove the installation media and restart your computer. After Windows has started normally, insert the installation media and run Windows Setup." what do I do now? Did I miss something or am I on the wrong track to fixing my laptop?

That means that most likely, your current operating system is damaged and will not allow for that option. You would have to try the option under it. The Custom Install and erase everything option to try a new install of Windows :(

@@PC_Monkey The computer was performing very slowly, so I decided to format it. The harddrive failed the short dst check but after I formatted it, it passed the test, then after Windows failed to install, it failed the test again. If the harddrive is the problem, is there anyway that I can repair it?

@@daneycm If it failed the test then I would replace it unfortunately :( Good thing is you can use this chance to upgrade to a SSD instead of a HDD. They are faster and break less often :) After installing a new SSD, you will need to install Windows onto it. Let me know if you would like help with any of that :)

Yes, I can see loads of networks on other devices, and if I go to bios for a scan, it does show the wifis available, just not on the installation for windows, I tried 10 and 11! Thanks for getting back to me🤓

@@TechnologyRescue With most newer computers, the install will pull the product ID code direct from the motherboard and activate Windows that way. If not, you can enter it in manually after the install completes

@@PC_Monkey We had a unplanned power surge. The laptop rebooted but went into the repair diagnostic mode and then got stuck in the repair loop. I can get to the advanced screen to wipe all files. I hit the button to start. It gets to 3% complete and then kicks me out and reboots into the repair loop

@@PC_Monkey no bro I figured it out when I came to the menue I could see them all. I didn’t have some keys such as f9 and f11 but I resetted my probook and now I’m fine. When I pressed esc it showed me every option and I saw f9 and f11 wasn’t an option. I just wanted to reset my probook and I’ve done it now. Thanks for reaching out and trying to help me 👊.

I also tried installing windows 11 driver. Same result. Error states no device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers and then click ok.

@@meh3803 If the SSD is an upgrade to your current HDD then yes, that is a good upgrade. You can consult the user manual to see your max RAM capacity for your computer. Or you can go to websites like crucial.com. They can scan your computer and tell you its max capacity. As long as the 8gb is not over that limit, maxing out your RAM is always a good and easy upgrade !!
