As I’ve said, no hiking for me… so it’s been wonderful to see all my usual day hike areas and see new areas. I love that cajon canyon and have photographed those same rocks . Now you’re on to swarthout cyn and ALL THE TRAINS. . Love those trains. Have taken the grandkids out there for hike, trains, and sending boats down the stream out by 2nd tunnel. Climbing up toward Guffy is no fun though. Will you camp at Guffy? Wonderful, beautiful views and TREES!!.I m not sure how far you can hike after that; maybe to Vincent gap. But there should be lots of footprints in the snow for you. Happy trails; happy easter

Beautiful flowers and some deep water crossings. The rainbow bridge does look like a colorful rainbow. Maybe you'll run into the Easter Bunny out there in the desert :)

Wow, beautiful. Thanks for showing all of those flower covered hills and the rainbow at the end, the upside to a heavy snow (and rain) year. I guess you guys didn't stop and take a dip at the clothing optional hotsprings.

I know I keep saying this but you all are so lucky to be hiking this year. Generally that canyon is blistering hot. The flowers are stunning.

In 2017 it was close to 100 degrees at your camp spot in late may. Do you wish you started in April. The water crossing was over a beaver dam you had to balance on loose logs. Quite an adventure gettin across

My goodness, has it been a month already? Time's flyin' by. I'm constantly amazed that the trail is typically less than 3' wide, and narrower in some places. Amazing! Keep up the good work, boys.

Thanks for the great videos. We have driven up to near the Cajon pass from Ventura to dayhike on the PCT to the deep creek in the early summer. It is a very nice area around that creek. That section along the deep creek is very nice traversing on a fairly level tract following the creek downhill. We hiked up stream to the small falls area of the creek. I looked up that deep creek valley imagining the PCT people were hiking down the trail. It is good to see you guys out of the snow on dirt and rocks for a long while. We did not see the amounts of water you guys are seeing. You are coming closer to the Cajon pass and then Wrightwood. Not too far beyond Wrightwood you will be dropping down out of the snow nearing Vazquez rocks state park and nearing Aqua Dulce. We are about 110 miles west of your guys in Ventura. The next 10 days or more are lots of sun and warm temps. This has to be headed to the east and you should see it the next day or sooner because our weather usually travels to the east.

River crossing tip. If you can find a palm size rock, toss it up into the air into the part of the stream you are wondering if it is too deep. The velocity of the stone splash outwards will report the sound of the rock hitting the rocks in the bottom before the water closes up the sound of the clap 👏. If you hear no clap then it is likely getting too deep for fast moving waters to be in. I thought the rainbow bridge was the area of the hot springs.

I think the hot springs are just short of mile 308, and the rainbow bridge is at 310.

Great job Codgers! Been following since day 0. I have one suggestion, if you can announce or post the date you recorded your video would be great. Never sure how many days behind the current date your recording is. Keep it up!

I'm sure enjoying your hike! Any chance you could s-l-o-w the camera work down when you pan from side to side or up and down? Seems like we wind up with a blur most of the time so far. I can tell that the scenery you mention is there, but I can't really enjoy it. Another second or two of a slower pan, or of a pan and then holding still to show the view would really up the viewer experience. Thanks for listening to my suggestion. Hope your trip just gets better and better!

@@hikingwiththecodgers4086 I do know from experience that when you are making a panning shot it can feel like you are moving very slowly and it is still too fast! And if you are narrating at the same time....well, that is a lot for a codger brain to keep up with. LOL! There is a reason (or a dozen) that I'm not a KZbinr! Thanks for all your work, Ms Rumbles, and the Codgers!

AUDIO UPDATE Another great video guys. I didn’t hear a lot of bass rumble in this video. There was some popping and crackling that wasn’t the wind so I’m not sure what that was. So I had another thought crossed my mind, which is whether you guys put your hand where the connector goes in a phone. Sometimes it can create a connection if your hands are moist and then the static electricity coming through your body can create that popping. So you might want to be careful about how you hold the phone and also make sure that there’s not any kind of buildup of dirt in the connector area that could create the popping as well. about the wind, I thought crossed my mind. Is it possible to take one of those felt dots that you put on the bottom of a vase or bowl on a table to protect the table over the microphone Dot on the phone that might protect it from the wind. That might be something you could find at a store cheap. It seems like the sound is better if you’re holding the phone while you’re wearing compression shorts rather than not.
