The stuff he does, even when he is alone, isn’t as random and crazy as it seems. Cause he knows he’s actually entertaining readers/viewers. Sometimes he tells jokes that would make everyone around him think he’s crazy, but to the reader/viewer it all makes sense. IE calling Cable thanos, or in the comics when he openly talks about the readers in front of other characters. It all seems crazy. If the butterflies actually having good intentions turns out to be true, then it does make for a good reflection of Peacemaker and his declaration that he'd kill anyone in the name of peace. I just hope Gunn doesn't drive the message too hard by having Peacemaker say something to Goff like "Butterflies, what a joke." That would be a bit too on the nose in drawing parallels. I think "Home Sweet Home" is going to payoff huge in the next episode, and unfortunately I think you might have missed the mark on why it's being played. You said yourself that there are almost limitless hair metal ballads to choose from, and if he wanted a song about BEING or FINDING his "home" or place in the world, he could have found a better one. Instead, he played a song that sets itself up as a love letter being written to someone to let them know you are coming back home to them tomorrow, after running away. There is fight coming, and Peacemaker picked this song as his battle hymen. Just one more night and he's been back with his true love ... unambiguous murder. Right after he tells Harcourt he doesn't want to kill any more, he walks it back with "I don't mind killing aliens". This ties back to the themes of justifiable murder we've seen in the show. He though he was different then his father because he kills "bad" people, but he's learning that he's actually no different then his father in that they both pick a group of people, dehumanize them, and say that makes it alright to kill them. This foreshadows the fact that something is going to happen to make it harder for him to dehumanize the butterflies as well, causing him to finally understand that.
