You have done a very nice quality repair. Delighted to see that the calibration process worked well for you too.

Excellent presentation on how to correctly repair a device of this caliber. I also own the identical model and it is worth every penny, more than paid for itself in troubleshooting time and energy.

Hello. Can you inform me about the calibration resistor values ? This calibration method is used when PIC is changed ? Thank you.
@dav1dbone3 жыл бұрын
There's a time delay before it tests, could they not have built in a protection circuit, where if there's any potential between the input wires the input is switched to a discharge resistor?

I wonder how much the tips are for that JBC station compared to the Hakko or Weller integral tips; I would imagine they are significantly more expensive.

You're an artist. Thank you for making and posting this video. ¿Does a new meter (as this) come with calibrating resistors as you have shown here? Are the low resistance measurements stable & repeatable? Thank you.
@whoisme6785 жыл бұрын
Old Post, but a very nice job. I cant see what you repaired as to simply desoldered and then resoldered the same items?

Great repair of this classical mistake... Could you give more details about the calibration steps? How you activate this menu? What are the resistor values? (I need to perform this step on my own ESR70 as I've a small permanent CC offset, even with the customer auto-calibration procedure)
@texasguitarslim3 жыл бұрын
My ESR70 stopped automaticly measuring components. I have to push the test button again, while trying to hold components in my hand, which is very stupid. What kind of problem IS THIS? Thanks for Everything.

I've the same Model ESR70 and I've never seen this menu about calibration, is it because you change the Pic and it's his first time starting? Can you tell me more about this procedure with resistor? Thanks and great video and nice work.

Do you know if you can use a hotgun on BGA components? Or do you need something special for that? Thanks again!
@Filip.Honzarek10 жыл бұрын
For BGA components you need special device named "BGA Infrared Rework Station". Just search on google. Also you need balls, etc...
@SporkSchivago10 жыл бұрын
{78b39062af45ec} Thank you. No way to do BGA with a hot air gun?
@Filip.Honzarek10 жыл бұрын
***** i think hot gun is for classic smd components and IC's with legs.

Nice work..what temp do you have the iron set at for re soldering?
@Filip.Honzarek6 жыл бұрын
It depends on iron. I use sn60pb40, 335 temp. in degrees.

Could you please tell me what equipment you are using to do this repair? For example, what soldering iron are you using? Are you using a heat gun or what? Also, what brand of desoldering braid do you use? Why type of flux are you using? Is it no-clean flux? I always have a pain in the butt time trying to desolder SMD components using my current radio shack digital desoldering station. Thank you so much for such a wonderful video. You did a real good job.
@Filip.Honzarek10 жыл бұрын
I use cheap heat-gun ATTEN 858D, soldering iron is Sn63Pb37 MTL468. Brand is Chemtronics. Flux is MTL468 mixed with IPA. MTL468 is no-clean flux. Soldering and desoldering station is expensive JBC model (jbctools.com). For desoldering multipin components i use heat-gun - it's easy and fast. Thank you.
@SporkSchivago10 жыл бұрын
{78b39062af45ec} Thank you for the response. I just bought some Weller WHA900 heat gun / rework station thing. Hopefully, it's at least equivalent to your ATTEN 858D. I've been working on electronics for a while now, using just a soldering iron, and as SMD components get smaller and smaller, I've decided it was finally time to buy something a little more suited to my needs. Thanks for the video.

50v or under, although I've seen it survive higher. But OP said it was a high-voltage cap, so I'm assuming well over 50v.

Bad remove extraction SMD TECHNIQUE. Aluminium or copper laminate is better, and cutter pins in cold smd chip is top.
