My great uncle, Navy Chief Edward Gaudet, (37), was just finishing 7:00 a.m Mass, on Ford Island, when the Pearl Harbor attack started at 7:55 a.m. He was on the USS Tennessee, moored alongside the USS Arizona! He was with 8 Chiefs from the Arizona, so their lives may have been saved by going to church, that day!
@DEATHBYFLYINGCDS20 күн бұрын
That's not how the Japanese saw it. They specifically planned it for Sunday because they knew everyone would be relaxing.. Lives weren't saved because it was Sunday.. lives were lost... too many lives
@DEATHBYFLYINGCDS20 күн бұрын
What would have saved lives is if the brass listened to general Billy Mitchell.. he predicted Pearl Harbor... perfectly... including that it would be on a Sunday...... which would be impressive enough if you overlooked the fact that he died 5 years before pearl harbor

The main thing I liked from this movie was despite is number of inaccuracies (and there are MULTIPLE), Rafe and Danny were ready to kill each other, but as soon as the attack started, they beside each other kicking ass.

2:15-2:25, that’s probably the best CG shot of this whole entire movie as the bomb dives down into the deck of the battleship Arizona. Imagine trying to recreate that shot but instead with the Enola Gay dropping Little Boy over Hiroshima.

I’m in the navy and the black dude “another damn drill”. It happened 2 days ago. “DING DING DING DING TOXIC GAS” I scrambled out and I thought the same thing. We put on gear and rushed up. False alarm it was just a funky monitor. But that’s why we always take it seriously unless they tell us a drill is coming up

The R rated version of this film is the best directors cut ever !!!! Its literally 20 mins of Saving Private Ryan type of blood & gore!!! Im honestly surprised that everybody has only seen the watered down PG-13 theatrical version of this film otherwise i promise u this film would get so much more respect than it does!!!! Pearl Harbor R rated directors cut & Donnie Brosco Directors Cut are the best unrated versions in history of movies!!!! They don't just ad a extra one minute scene , they actually give u what u expect to see especially with the graphic violence!!!

The Americans were neutral during those times. Although they did get warnings from Japan that they didn't take heed from until after Pearl Harbour was attacked.
@florinivan6907 Жыл бұрын
To be pedantic technically speaking the US was no longer neutral. In autumn 41 FDR ordered the Navy to engage Uboats in the North Atlantic on sight. So technically an undeclared naval war had already started against Germany. It just tends to get forgotten.The US was not really that neutral anymore at least against Germany.
