Waiting, watching the clock It's four o'clock, It's got to stop Tell him, take no more She practices her speech As he opens the door, she rolls over Pretends to sleep as he looks her over She lies and says she's in love with him, Can't find a better man She dreams in color, She dreams in red, Can't find a better man Can't find a better man Can't find a better man Oh.. Talking to herself There's no one else who needs to know She tells herself Memories back when she was bold and strong And waiting for the world to come along Swears she knew it, Now she swears he's gone She lies and says she's in love with him, Can't find a better man She dreams in color, She dreams in red, Can't find a better man She lies and says she still loves him, Can't find a better man She dreams in color, She dreams in red, Can't find a better man Can't find a better man Can't find a better man She loved him, yeah She don't want to leave this way She needs him, yeah That's why she'll be back again Can't find a better man (can't find a better man) Can't find a better man (can't find a better man) Can't find a better man (can't find a better man) Can't find a better... man...

Eddie Vedder and Tracy Chapman are two artists whose voices are full of emotion, and you can feel all the different emotions in their singing. Their voices are so expressive that you can experience the stories just listening to their songs. You feel the emotion in their voices and you can hear their connection to the lyrics. I bet the "Happy Birthday" song would top charts if sung by either one of these performers. Both are masters of their craft and they are truly connected to their work. I think song is so deep because it can apply to so many people’s relationship. For me the song is about not settling. I was in a LTR over 12 years with someone who showered me with so much attention that I got caught up in it until I realized I was settling for someone who wanted an idealized version of me they created in their mind, not the real me. Eventually settling will catch up to you and take its toll on the relationship. We eventually parted ways. We kept in contact for a while, but I think it became too hard for the other person simply being friends with me knowing what we once had and it was too much for them to to take. So we are no longer in contact. I hope they don’t settle and find what they want.

Loved this song in early high school. Had actually forgot about it, been so long since I have listened to it. Glad youtube recommended it

I’m not a die hard Pearl Jam fan or anything but this might be the greatest song ever.

Even Flow is my jam, but this is a great track. Eddie is great at grabbing you by the emotions and throwing you around the room.

man. pearl jam opened me up to grunge but i remember as i was just getting into them i went to skip this song, i thought it was too slow for my liking but my mom, who grew up in the 80s told me to wait. she liked this song. i didnt know she listened to pj so i restarted it and fell in love with it. this is one of my most favorite songs by them. the lyrics hit so hard when i first really listened. this song will always remind me of her and now i never ever skip over it.
