I got one couple years ago. Good sound and features and very loud if you need that too. Pevey caught my attention years ago when I saw a DJ using them, the sound was fantastic, very crisp and defined, compared to other speakers he used to use. You could definitely tell the difference

Hey Jim, Peavey one my first brand new combo amp, since then I’ve owned alot of various Peavey gear. Always reasonably priced and very reliable and good quality sound. Thx for the note.

Yep, I've had this one for years now and as usual, with most Peavey products, it never breaks down. I did take it out on a gig one time because I was playing in a very tight club with a 5 pc band, I thought it would work out good due to the speaker tilting upwards which it did for the most part. I pretty much had to stand directly in front of my amp for the whole gig and the only bad thing I noticed was there was insufficient highs because there is no tweeter in it but for practice in my office thats a non issue. Thanks for the comment!

Hello, thanks for the video! How does it sound at very low volume? (human voice level) My apartment has very good audibility, so I'm afraid the neighbors will call the police :) Or Vox vx50ba will be better for home practice?

Hey, thanks for the comments. This amp does sound fine at low volumes but in your situation I'd say you can go much smaller and lighter than a combo with a 10" speaker but you can also plug in headphones to many modern amps and just listen on that. If you want to go very small with outstanding quality check out Phil Jones Bass, they are amazing!

I bought one to play down-tuned guitar thru. It does have nice features,.which checked some boxes for me,.like the effects loop ✔️ Direct out ✔️ Active pickups support ✔️ Only wish I could've afforded the 150,.cause of course at 100 watt solid state,.it really only sounds like 40 watt max or so. Cheers! Rock on!

Thats cool, so how does this sound with your guitar? As far as features, and using it for bass guitar, I wish it had an output jack to hook up another cabinet, other than that, its a pretty impressive little rig. I'm going to be trying it out live with a 5 pc rock band in a few weeks, we'll be playing a small venue, gonna see if it can handle it.

@@studioxmusic Hello,. Yea,.I play a Fender Squire contemporary Jazz master (which comes stock with some active pickups,and I use the active pickup selection on this amp),.and as I mentioned,.playing in a low tuning,and this thing sounds awesome. No b.s. Just wish it were louder by itself,but I also run it to my p.a. That said,.I only wish the amp it's self were louder so it would support itself on stage,volume wise. Like,.with the amp behind me,and drums banging,.it gets drowned. Like you had said,.wish it had an external cab out. That may be nearly the only option omitted here tho also. Possibly running some on stage monitors from my p.a. ,rather than just the mains,.should suffice,I suppose. Again,.this lil amp does sound awesome. I am very happy with it,and hope to find the bigger Peavey's of this series on sale in future. I run an over drive pedal,and compressor/sustainer into the front,and delay,octave,and reverb thru the effects loop,and whoa! This thing ROCKS! Have u considered,or do u use a compressor with your bass sometimes? Or also,an octave pedal sometimes? I'll bet,.a compressor /sustainer,.or even an eq pedal as boost going into front (before preamp),and an Octave pedal in your fx loop would give some extra whomp,or wow factor ,in case the need ever arise. Or even just for fun on a song or two. Cheers Sir! I'm enjoying this chat. :) Thank u for responding. Sorry if I'm rambling on,.:)

@@dreamweaver8869 Hey Yea, I occasionally play with a 3pc rock jam band and we play quite loud, this thing would never keep up with them on its own. No effect will replace the wattage and movement of air (speakers) needed to get what I need for volume but thats not what I bought it for which is mainly for solo practice in my office. I do use effects when I'm with my jam band, its fun and gives me more ideas for coming up with original songs, we never play covers. For effects I have tried various compressors but always end up getting rid of them, I feel its best to try and control your sound with your hands, I do use overdrive and occasionally distortion and my POG octave, it tracks perfectly. I also use short and long delays and a chorus. I sometimes add other things as I continue to experiment and create, thanks man, good chatting.

Can i use it for small gigs?
@studioxmusic

generally speaking, I would say yes, I've used it in a small club with a high ceiling in a 5 pc band and it was sufficient, I did notice it was lacking in high end due to it not having a tweeter but in all other practicing I did with it I never noticed that before.

if you needed this for your band, would this be loud enough (for a small space practice session -- aka, not using the DI)?
@studioxmusic
@studioxmusic 8 ай бұрын
Hey HDR, happy to answer your question: that all depends on how loud your band is but for the most part, I would say yes, it should be fine. If yer playin in a small room, it really should be ok. I seem to always get a better sound when I leave the bass amp on the floor, no matter what rig I'm using, hope this helps!

this or the fender rumble 40 combo for home use practicing only? price is the same here in europe
@studioxmusic
@studioxmusic Жыл бұрын
Hey Nikos, I've never tried the Fender Rumble amps or cabs so can't really give you an educated answer. The first thing that comes to mind is: I'm guessing that the Fender Rumble 40 is a 40 watt amp which is okay if practice is all yer using it for. The Peavey is 100w. Now if the price is the same, thats a non-issue so the next thing I would be concerned about is the size so the Peavey is actually much larger than I need it to be so if the Rumble is smaller & lighter, than I might go with that one. I have talked to bassists who really dig the Rumble's tones.

Just found one sitting on the curb for the trash man. This thing is so clean and works fine. I expected I'd need to fix something but I don't think it was ever really used. It looks brand new after wiping it down and armor All. Wonder what it's worth on eBay?

@@studioxmusic been rocking out all morning. The only thing I dislike is no external volume control for Aux input on back. Has to be controlled by the device connected. Other then that I'm in love now with this series Amp.

Do amps typically have volume controls for aux send? I don’t recall seeing that on any amp. The only other bad thing is that there is no tweeter on it. It only bothered me when I used it for a live show.
