Okay BP. I'm a 66-year-old Black woman who LOVES Neil Diamond. Just attended the musical based on his life and career called "A Beautiful Noise". Though it wasn't the real Neil on stage, it was fabulous, and it reminded me of this man's genius, charm, and longevity. He's great! He's still with us at 83, albeit with Parkinson's disease.

That is an excellent and well-written musical. Choosing to tell the story in that format, and around the lyrics of "I am" like that was just brilliant writing.

We tell you our age (esp. 60s and 70s) because we want you to know that we were here for the music when it came out. We like watching your reactions to it because it affirms to the world that our era of music was the era of the greatest music in the world, excepting maybe the era of old masters classical. And we are proud when you appreciate it. And maybe a little prouder when you rave about it! From a 69-year-old white woman...

Stamina? This was 2012. He was 70. My wife and I flew cross country to attend this concert. Show went over two hours. No opener or intermission. When I first saw him in 1986, the shows were pushing every bit of three hours long. His stage entrances were God-like! The hair on the back of your neck stood up when he appeared on stage! My wife and I have been to hundreds of shows over the years. Everything from this to 90’s rock, oldies, R&B, Country, Blues, etc. Artists still with us and some now deceased. No one we saw before or since has ever given us that type of moment just walking onto a stage!

I have a bit of a story. I worked with a gentleman and he said when he lived in LA he had a neighbor that was a song writer. Every-once-in-awhile he would ask this gentleman to come over to critic a song. Well the neighbor moved and the gentleman found a lady and they got married. About 20yrs later the wife said she wanted to go see Neil Diamond. They are at the concert and the gentleman said "HEY! that's my neighbor!!!"

Neil Diamond here is quite elderly. His powerful voice is fading, but the gravel was always there and made his voice distinctive and amazing. This put a smile on my face today. Thank you. As a 60 plus lady I just wanted to add that we love tuning in to reaction shows by younger generations because it brings us back to the days when we were blown away by the awesome music of our time. Imagine waking up one day and hearing some of the amazing classic rock you've heard on this channel for the first time EVER PLAYED ON THE RADIO. That's how it was for us. And all of these genres were playing simultaneously. It was like going to a buffet restaurant and choosing which platinum record you were going to experience for the first time from every single serving offered. Anyway, it's fun to watch you experience these amazing talented musicians for the first time.

Sweet Caroline is one of the classic interactive songs for concert and also in bars. Some others being Jimmy Buffett's "Margaritaville," Garth Brooks' "Friends in Low Places," & David Allen Coe's "You Don't Call Me Darling." Neil Diamond doesn't perform these days due to his Parkinson's disease. He actually did a COVID version of Sweet Caroline back during the 2020 lockdowns (hands, washing hands, etc). Video may still be on KZbin. Loved your reaction. One of your best ones, BP. Yes, I'm one of your older (56) white crowd who grew up listening to Neil Diamond. My parents both loved his music & we played 45's on the old record player. "Shiloh," "Red, Red Wine," "Cracklin' Rose," & other songs would have us singing along.😊

Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand...duet. "You Don't Bring Me Floeers". " Sweet Caroline". Has become this huge song for Neil. Quite possibly the most popular 'sing along ' song there is. Even if you're not a big fan of his music, this one will grab you when you're in a room full of his fans. The energy pulls you in and soon you're signing too.

England football fans have adopted this as an unofficial anthem. It's sung every time a goal is scored. Think it was at the last Euros or possibly World Cup, Neil Diamond sent good luck message to the team after he was shown footage of the fans singing this. It's great to hear little kids and young adults singing one of the all time classics 👏👏

I remember driving on Sundays with my dad through the beautiful Black Hills in our big old boat of a car with the Neil Diamond 8-tracks at full blast. I always wanted to pay for us to travel together & go see him & I regret not doing it because both of our health situations declined suddenly at the same time & the chance was lost. Still, the memories remain of those priceless times in the car. 💜🎶

For the record, Black P, I am 57 and mixed too. The reason a lot of us older watch you is we like to see you experiencing music we grew up with. I love newer music too, including yours, but never having had much exposure to extended family as a military brat, the comments sections are my place to connect over music. You are blessed to have kids. Wish I had had them. But I love being an auntie or “cuzzin” to reactors younger than me and talking to other subscribers. You have a great base of fans here. I loved Neil Diamond as a kid. We spent many a road trip playing hockey listening to our parents’ 8 tracks. For another Neil tune you may want to check out Crackling Rosie. Another 1970s sing along is Smokie’s Living Next Door to Alice. Though if your kids sang along to that one you would be appalled. Cheers, buddy.

Neil's voice, and his storytelling, were masterful in his prime. My mom loved him, and as a young girl, I did too. His songs were some of the first I learned on my guitar. Mom took me to see him in concert, we had great seats, and he came stage left frequently, where we sat, and interacted with us. My first concert and it was, as you young 'uns say, a real banger. That was in Seattle at the Coliseum in 1972 and I was 12. See, I didn't have to tell you my age, you've already done the math! I am also, not so much a white woman as a fairly translucent one. lol, 22 years in Alaska, and I will never have that golden glow again. I enjoy watching your reactions to my beloved music dear, which keeps me returning for more! Peace out!

Saw him in 1977. Didn’t really want to go but seats (front center) were free. Blew me away. The Gardems in Toronto were on their feet the whole time. Got all his albums right away! Was surprised (understatement) to find this song and Denver’s Country Roads on EVERY karaoke playlist in Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai and even small (20M-25M) cites in north and NE! A legend.

Love him! We saw the jazz singer in the drive-in movie theater when I was a kid. I saw most of the big movies of the '70s and the early '80s at the drive-in. Then my dad bought the soundtrack on vinyl and we played it all the time. Our family had a pretend radio show called the Lockhart show. Where we would sing the songs and dance. Great memories! I feel for him and Linda Ronstadt now having Parkinson's like I do. I've had it for about 13 years now and I understand why they can't sing anymore because your voice does change because the muscles around your voice box get weaker. Love your reaction! Made my day! Thanks my fellow wing nut!❤😂

I was raised on Neil Diamond. My mother lived for music and two favorite singers were Bobby Vee ("Take Good Care of my Baby") and Neil Diamond. Needless to say, I know every Diamond album by heart. "Cracklin Rosie," Red, Red Wine, "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon," "Thank the Lord for the Night Time," "Holly Holy," "Song Sung Blue" "Beautiful Noise," "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" (with Barbra Streisand), and "Heartlight." i apologize if I left out someone's favorite but he has so many classics, I can't list them all. Honary mention should be made of the Monkees' hit "I'm a Believer" which Diamond wrote prior to his own career.

Neil Diamond was a song writer first, a singer second. He wrote songs for lots of other singers and groups. But he was never satisfied so ended up singing his own songs. Yes, this performance is at the end of his performing career and it's not his strongest voice. All of his music is stuck in my psyche. When I was a newborn, my dad would rock me to sleep to his "Hot August Night" album, which was a live performance from 1972, right before I was born.

The reason why you are getting those reactions from us older crowd is because no offense you’ve been sheltered and placed in a certain box for so long when all of this greatness has been out there! And it’s a glorious revelation to see someone take a chance on being open to the bands and creative talent that paved the way for the genre you live and admire so much to be finally recognized as such and not just the enemy…. Rock, classic rock, hip hop, jazz, blues classical pieces they all tie in together annnnd tbh the hip hop genre has taken samples from the greats for a readin( whether that be an easy out and no original ideas or that they are showing respect) that’ still remains to be determined… however welcome to the show! It’s nice to see and feel the appreciation for these bands that so much deserve it in this day and age!

I'm 54 and Hispanic 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I grew up listening to Neil Diamond cause my mom was a fan of his and Barbara Streisand, I started paying attention to his music in the 80's when the Monkeys has a resurge, he wrote a song for them "I'm a believer" . I did see a sell out concert at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where he sold out the stadium ... it was the best concert I've ever been too with an eclectic crowd. It was a school night and he held the crowd till the end.... He actually got off the stage and walked the entire rodeo floor, gave well wished to a lady on the cell phone, whose mom was listening, he spotted the lady and took the phone from her ... God Bless those sparkly shirts and shinny shoes.

If memory serves, "Sweet Caroline" was Neil's 2nd big hit, along with "Cracklin' Rosie". I was introduced to both songs as a Tween around 1970, maybe a bit earlier, by Mal Sondock, a former GI who had stayed in Germany and used to host a weekly radio show on my local station for well over a decade. Because he (presumably) had still access to AFN, he played many songs and artists who were not yet part of mainstream radio -- I was a Neil Diamond fan before he became a star here. Still am, tbh; he's a great singer and songwriter. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane!

You need to listen to a version from when he was younger and his voice was stronger. This is amazing but when his voice was stronger is was skin tingling. Gave you goosebumps. After I posted this, you bring up this very subject.

Sweet Caroline always triggers vivid childhood memories. I was a little kid just starting school when this song was big. Mom always had the radio on while getting me & my older sibs ready for school and the morning DJ always kept SC on rotation, played it every morning at some point. Absolutely engraved it into my brain. 50+ years later, as soon as it starts I see & smell everything from those mornings, especially the sandwich & apple smell of my Peanuts (Snoopy) lunchbox as mom packed it (I still have that Iunchbox!) to the smell of Fall & the crunch of wading through leaves as she walked me to school.

This was the first concert I went to with my future wife.. I think we were the youngest ones at the show. I met my wife in 1990 she was 19 I was 23... I wasn't sure if he would ever be touring again so I spent big money to get great seats he was "in the round" and we were almost front row and it was around the holiday time he paused the concert about 45 minutes in and spent 45 minutes doing Christmas and Hanukkah songs and then proceeded to finish out the concert for another hour or so it was just fantastic.

I love your reaction on this! Neil Diamond was popular in my youth and I still love his music, but your reaction to Sweet Caroline was the best!

So the show Carpool Karaoke with James Corden that used to come on had Migos singing Sweet Caroline. It's my favorite episode of that show and makes me smile every time I watch it.

Thank you for reacting to this video. It's one I haven't seen. What a great way to start the day!! I've been to a few concerts over the years: the Beatles in 1965; The Association with Aerosmith as the opening act (can you believe that?); The Who; the Eagles; and Neil Diamond, THREE different concerts. Based just on that, honestly I'd have to say Neil's were the best. He and his concerts were always so full of energy from the opening note to the last encore!

You need to find the clip from the Madison Square Garden performance in 2001/2002. Much better. I saw him at MSG in October 2001 just after 9-11. He sang this for what seemed to be forever. He tried to stop but we all just kept singing. It went on for 15 minutes. We were all a bit nervous being there so soon after 9-11 and you could feel it. He just kept singing the chorus over and over and over. You could just feel that everything was going to be OK. It was therapeutic and cathartic. I’ll never forget it.

I always liked Neil Diamond, but my mother loved him. We went to see him in concert every time he played Indianapolis. I had the great privilege to see him live several times. He always put on a great show, and yes, his voice was pretty well shot by the time this video was recorded, but still a great performer.

Always my favorite singer! Thanks. Loved your interactive reaction. Yes, his shows were 2 hrs long, or more, so he had stamina. Exciting to be there. Parkinson's made him retire early. You saw him younger in the "I am, I said" and "America" videos
