Bryan Adams Came First He released his first album in 1980, Summer of 69 was from Bryan Adams fourth Album Reckless which is still a Classic Rock Album which was released in 1984. Bon Jovi released their first Album in 1984 but Living on a Prayer came from their third Album Slippery when Wet which was released in 1986, so Bryan Adams definitely was around first by many years and has a back catalogue of mainly Classic Rock Songs and not just Ballads.

growing up in the 70s, a "5 and dime" were generally a mom and pop general store where you get inexpensive hardware supplies, and in the case of a 10 year old like me back then, it's where I bought school supplies, Halloween costumes, candy, toys, posters etc., all affordable and within my allowance of $5 a week, LOL.
@IggyStardust1967Ай бұрын
Your parents must have been well off... my allowance in the 70s was $1.00/week. Of course, I could get 3 comic books, candy bar and a freshly made soda and still come home with change..... I couldn't imagine having a $5.00/week allowance. I'd have been living like a KING! (And no, I'm not throwing shade..... I'm happy for you having that. I didn't have it too bad, as I did get some of the best toys at the time for birthdays and Christmas. Plus, we had a swimming pool in the back yard. I was also raised by my grandmother, so that may have been a difference.)

When he was 10 years old (in 1969), he bought his first electric guitar based on a Fender Stratocaster. He left school to pursue his dream of being a musician. Bryan is one of those artists who sounds EXACTLY the same when he performs live. But I know he's not lip syncing because the one concert I went to, he incorrectly sang the 2nd verse first and then when he got to the 2nd verse had the biggest grin on his face when he realized he goofed. Seen him over 15 times and he never disappoints. He has also written songs for many different artists; the one that comes to mind is "When The Night Comes" by Joe Cocker. He started in a band called Sweeney Todd when he was 16 back in the 70s, so yeah, definitely before Bon Jovi. People used to call him the Canadian Bruce Springsteen.

Prior to his solo career, Bryan was briefly a member of Canadian glam rock band, Sweeney Todd. They released two albums in the late 70s before splitting up, with singer Nick Gilder singing on the first album, then leaving for a solo career (his lone hit in the U.S. was "Hot Child in the City" in 1979). He was replaced by then 16-year-old Bryan Adams who sang on the 2nd album (their big hit with Gilder on vocals was "Roxy Roller" - #1 in Canada but stalled at #90 in the U.S.; it was re-recorded with Adams singing, becoming another minor hit in the U.S., peaking at #99 the following month). Bryan's first solo hit (he had also been part of a successful songwriting team for other artists with partner Jim Vallance) in the U.S. was "Lonely Nights" in 1981, which only charted at #84 on the pop chart, but at Album Rock (AOR) radio it was a #3 hit. His first top 10 hit (1983) was a ballad, "Straight from the Heart" (#10) and his first platinum-selling top 10 album, "Cuts Like a Knife". He steadily enjoyed greater success with each successive release over the next few years, with both up-tempo rock songs & ballads - although he's only charted at #1 with mostly ballads (the exception being "All for Love", which was a trio of singers - himself, Rod Stewart & Sting, and was featured in the 1993 movie adaptation of The Three Musketeers).

Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams were contemporaries, but this song came out in 1985 and Livin on a Prayer was 1986. Bryan Adams debuted in 1980 from Canada, Bon Jovi was formed in 1983 from New Jersey. Bryan Adams was considered a Canadian “Roots Rock” performer, Bon Jovi at the beginning was more of a hard rock “Hair Rock” band, but their sound was very similar.
@aura81295Ай бұрын
Yep - just like all eras had a commercialized "pop" sound. I think that is what BP is picking up on. I never really put Bryan Adams with Bon Jovi before, but I think that might be because they tended to play them each on different types of radio stations back in the day. For me, Bryan Adams' style would be more similar (tuning into the radio) to that of Rick Springfield, Richard Marx, REO Speedwagon, etc. Bon Jovi tended to be grouped in more with heavier rock styles like Ratt, Motley Crue, Skid Row, etc. Of course, there was cross-over songs and artists then just like now. A huge influence on Jon Bon Jovi was fellow Jersey boy, Bruce Springsteen, whose music was more commonly played on pop rock rather than hard rock stations. Glad to see BP forgoing box labels and giving it all a try. 👏

Written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. Parts were based on the high school days of Vallance. 40 years 🎂 Adams was 27 years old in 1984. He wrote rock songs with members of KISS and other musicians. The only members in this band who are still with Adams in 2024 are drummer Pat Steward and lead guitarist Keith Scott. The actress here is Lynette Anthony. She appears in 6 more videos from the album Reckless.The ending here leads to the song Somebody, Canadian version. No surprise for reminding you of Bon Jovi. The album Reckless was recorded in Little Mountain Sound Studios 🎙 in Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦. That was the premiere studio in Canada from 1981 to 1992. Bon Jovi recorded there in 1986. Produced by the late Bruce Fairbairn. Engineered by Bob Rock 🎸. Assistant engineer to Adams and Bon Jovi is Mike Fraser. These Metro Vancouver residents knew Adams since the 1970s. Suggested videos: 1 Bryan Adams sings Somebody. 2 Glass Tiger with Bryan Adams perform I Will Be There 3 Lisa Dal Bello sings She Wants to Know 4 Loverboy performs Jump.

This song came off the album "Reckless " released in November of 1984. His career was started in 1977 in Vancouver, BC. He fronted a band called Sweeney Todd at 16/17 years old. I actually own the one album he did with that band called "If Wishes Were Horses" Bryan Adams left it in 78 to pursue a solo career. The irony about your Bon Jovi remark and Bryan Adams is that they both used Vancouver to record great records. Bon Jovi album "Slippery When Wet" in 1986. Bryan Adams is the single biggest male artist to come out of Canada. He has so many hit songs it's crazy. I would suggest a reaction from his Reckless album he did with Tina Turner called "It's Only Love ""
