Peggy was big in her day. This was one of her more famous numbers. North Dakota doesn't have a whole lot of famous people to boast of, but Peggy was one of them. We were proud.

I'm 73 and her big popularity was a bit before my time. She was very big in the 40's and 50's. I didn't find her stuff until the late 1970's. Fever is her biggest, but my favorite is "Is that all there is?" Sardonic, sophisticated, absolutely perfect for her.

One of the greatest Jazz singers of all time! I think "Fever" was on the Hit Parade's top 10 for weeks back in the late 50s. She was also the voice of the little vamp dog in Disney's animated movie "Lady and the Tramp". She was usually dressed in long gowns with a matching signature scarf dangling from one of her finger. Very classy singer.

Miss Peggy Lee......she was quite something, did you feel the sizzle?! Tssss. 🔥 Did you pay attention to the Bongo/Drummer player. He was fantastic! A cello, bongos snare drums and Miss Peggy Lee....perfect!

Peggy Lee was an icon of jazz. She appeared in dozens of television shows and motion pictures. Hundreds of night clubs. Everyone knew her in the 50s and 60s.. A real entertainment legend.

Yeah! Peggy’s great 👏🏻🥰‼️ I love that she only needs two instruments behind her for this song and that the drummer is playing the drums like bongo🪘🪘 - sounds so cool 👏🏻🥰‼️ Enjoyed your reaction too AB 👍🏻🥰‼️

Fever was first recorded by a 19 year old R&B singer, Little Willie John. His version is definitely R&B, and hit #1 on the R&B charts. In 1958 Peggy Lee recorded the song and it shot up to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her version is more Jazz than Little Willie John's. She also changed some of the lyrics. Many other artists have recorded it over the years. One of my favorites is from 1965 by the Mc Coys. They had a #1 song with Hang on Sloopy. They changed the music of Hang on Sloopy some, and sang Fever to it. It turned out great and did fairly well on the charts. I'm 70 years old now and I love it when people hear songs that I remember from long ago and they enjoy it too. Thanks

Loved Ms. Peggy!!! She was the hot girl of her day, not to mention when she first started out! She performed with the likes of Rat Pack (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, and Peter Lawford.) My favorite Peggy Lee song is "Nice work if you can get it."

Very iconic riff; that baseline is unforgettable. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
@minimasuo12 күн бұрын
Lee wrote a lot of the lyrics to this song, but never copyrighted them, probably because the "fever! when you hold me"... etc. part was the original writer's lyric. Her lyrics are so clever. She wrote other songs as well. A wonderful jazz singer who wasn't afraid to adapt to changing times.

My dad was a professional drummer and bandleader from the early 40s through the early 60s. That was the "big band/swing" era. Fever was his favorite song to play as a drummer. This particular version seems to be at a bit faster tempo than usual, IMO. But even so, if you pay attention to what the dtummer is doing, you'll understand why my dad said it was so much fun.

Great reaction! Now treat yourself and us and watch Billie Eilish doing a cover of this at the Hollywood Bowl on July 27, 2022 Its on this channel: SoCalLiveitLive (July 28) "Billie Eillsh Fever"; also that same night she performed with Debbie Harry of BLONDIE fame ( "Heart of Glass") - together they sang PEGGY LEE'S "Is that all three is?" Great to see a superstar from the 1970s & 80's sing with a young star from today and see them enjoy one another's company. As far as "FEVER" goes Peggy Lee is unbeatable. Peggy also sang "Is That All There is"; "Why don't you do right?" and "Manana" and others. P.S. I'm 70 and a Billie Fan - because I knew that Billie was doing a tribute to Frank Sinatra and Peggy Lee I visited the Peggy Lee Museum at the MIdland Continental Depot in Wimbledon, ND - 190 miles SE of me [I'm in Northern Minnesota right by the Canadian Border] - quite an experience; Peggy Lee's father managed the depot; his 2nd wife, Peggy's stepmother severely abused her and she escaped out of the 2nd story window - a small town North Dakota girl who became a superstar singing with Frank Sinatra and other big names.
