I just got one from a local sports store going out of business for $500. Getting it ready for it's maiden voyage.

For the same price you can get the Ascend 128T which comes wired for electronics and trolling motors

This suited my needs perfectly for a couple years. Just actually bought a 133x last night. Video coming soon

You should add a skeg to the yak. It paddles and tracks so much better. Night and day
@UntamedOutdoorsmen3 жыл бұрын
Might have to do some research on that. Thanks!

I am looking seriously in purchasing this kayak. One question, the two front facing rod holders, with rods in, do they get in the way of paddling?
@UntamedOutdoorsmen Жыл бұрын
They do quite a bit. They’re more used for keeping your rod secured when removing the hook from a fish catch. Not really for extra storage.

@@UntamedOutdoorsmen Thanks for the quick reply. My choice is either this one or the Lifetime Yukon.

How does it track? Pretty straight? I noticed it doesn’t have a skeg, but its design being a tunnel design maybe doesn’t need one.
@UntamedOutdoorsmen Жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s an entry level ish fishing kayak this wouldn’t have a skeg. It does track pretty well as is.

Hey, would you still recommended this kayak? was looking at the bigfish 120 but this is $350 cheaper where i live
@UntamedOutdoorsmen2 жыл бұрын
I would say yes, especially if you’re not one to do modifications this is more geared towards that.

A man of good taste. I'm looking at the same two and at the same question. You make your purchase yet Nic? What do you think? I'm kinda between 3. The Old Town Sportsman 120, the Bigfish 120 and the Pelican 120
@domanater4802 жыл бұрын
@@Nothing2Interesting hey dude, I actually couldnt find the pelican where im from so that was off table. I actually tried out a bigfish 105 after the shop worker persuaded that the 120 was overkill for me at 70kg's. But i still found the 105 was far far to heavy for roof loading on my car. I ended up with a completely different chinese type 14ft yak. Out of your choices id say the old town is the best one.
@Nothing2Interesting2 жыл бұрын
@@domanater480 yeah I couldnt believe how heavy the Bigfish was when I I was looking at the Specs. The Old Town is only 38.5kg by itself so much more manageable on the roof. Itll probably be the one I get because its the only one in stock locally for me lol. How are you liking the one you got?

So it looks great in the driveway. How is it in the water?
@UntamedOutdoorsmen10 ай бұрын
Great for the beginner looking to get into higher level kayak fishing. Good stability but not much room for mods if you wanted to add them (If you want to make them look nice). I've had two kayaks since making this video and this kayak is long gone. But I remember having a positive experience, however its tough to justify at that price point especially compared to something like a Perception Outlaw

Is the front storage hatch blocked off or is it open....meaning can small stuff slide to the back?
@UntamedOutdoorsmen2 жыл бұрын
It is not blocked off. There’s foam blocks in the middle so the bigger stuff won’t slide but the smaller stuff like pliers and scissors will

How does yours have 4 rod holders I can’t find one with 4 they all have 2?? Is there a different version of the 120
@UntamedOutdoorsmen2 жыл бұрын
The catch 120 has 4 rod holders. Two in the front and two in the back

Im from Mexico and i only have two soups to choose, Pelican or Chinese Kayak. My Question is is good for sea fishing? I want for sea fishing 1000mts far to the coast. Is ok? I want the 120 catch because its not heavy and i have 47 years and this will be my kayak for the rest of my life. What do you think? Im 6.1ft and 80kg weight
@UntamedOutdoorsmen2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s a great kayak but probably not too great in the ocean. This is definitely a pond/river kayak. I could stand comfortably but again only in a lake with no current.
