The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is a National Trail situated in Wales. This trail has a total length of 186 miles/299 kilometres with a total ascent equal to the height of Mount Everest. This is part two in a series of five which has been compiled into a playlist. Also, if you're planning to do the trail, there is a Trail Review video that provides hints and tips that will help you achieve a successful completion. More recently, I have completed a summary video that consolidates all the playlist videos into a single video. Needless to say, this video does not have the same level of detail as the playlist videos but serves the purpose of providing a taster of this National Trail.
We are following a south to north route which started in Amroth and will be completed when we arrive in Cardigan after a hike of 10 days and 50 minutes. This video charts the tries and tribulations of days three and four, starting with an early morning, following our wild camp on the dunes of Freshwater Bay West. We head easterly towards Angle Bay passing grazing wild horses on the way. With the horses in the distance we sight the remains of East Blockhouse which was a fortified position built to defend Milford Haven docks on the orders of King Henry 8th. As we walk along side Angle Bay we discover The Old Point house where we rehydrate with a shandy on this extremely hot day. Eventually, we make it to Pembroke where we admire the walls of the castle. Due to being in the bounds of an urban landscape at nightfall we make use of a hotel for the night.
Morning finds us walking around of the walls of Pembroke Castle and then crossing the river to walk through Pembroke Docks. From here we take the major road A477 which takes us over the Cleddau Bridge. At the bottom of the bridge we head through the small enclave of Neyland where we admire all the different coloured houses. Next the village of Llanstadwell is visited and the church of St Tudwal's. From here we continue the journey to Black Bridge.
Now we are on the outskirts of Milford Haven, rather than following the official route through the town centre we hug the coast and take a path near the water edge. Eventually, having bypassed the town we walk through Milford Marina. We continue our journey and due to being ahead of low tide we take a rest overlooking Gelliswick Bay. Here we can see the gas jetty and a ship at harbour. We now leave the all the structures behind as we turn our back on South Hook LNG Terminal.
Next we head for Sandy Haven, it is here we have to wait for low tide so we can cross the concrete bridge. Having waited about half hour we deem it safe to cross and we are on our way to Gann for the next tidal crossing. At Abbery Y Gann we are happy to find the tide has sufficiently retired to the sea to allow one weary traveller over the wooden tidal bridge. Once across we view the old lime kilns. Then we head south into Dale village, for a while we watch the sailing boat racing before heading onto the headland to find our wild camping spot.

A stretch of industrial infrastructure, overgrown paths and other challenges, with bits of beauty in between. Glad you got through without glueing yourself to anything.

Nigel, you're not fooling anyone, there's no way that was a shandy! 😂 Secondly, only 21 miles? Btw, thought the editing was particularly good. Looking forward to the next instalment. Atb Mark.

A lot of walkers avoid Angle to pembroke so it becomes overgrown .I did it first time I walked the path but now catch the coastal bus

The sun makes some of these shots look gorgeous but I imagine it was diffucult to walk in! What would you suggest for walking in high temperature?

Great question, ideally you would choose that day as a rest day but most of us are committed to a schedule due to limited hols. So, it’s monitoring our core temperature, trying to rest in shade until we cool down. Also, a good hat is a must it that kind of weather. Thanks for the comment and I hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Cheers

This video is perfect for breakfast tv. When did you actually visit the Pembrokeshire Path because I am not sure wild camping still exists...?
