Yeah it's really contradicting to advocate training when a muscle is recovered or you're leaving gains on the table, but also be in the same boat of no direct front delt training because pressing. There's no way having a 3 to 1 tricep/front delt training volume is "optimal".

The rant about “the studies” being 27 Johnny Pencil-necks is exactly how I feel. Why would I base my training on how 27 pencil necks responded to whatever exercise regimen over the course of like a week? The sports science I like is the old Soviet stuff, where they tracked their most elite athletes, and designed studies to see how they could turn them into invincible juggernauts: thats the science based lifting I’m into

Ricky is a voice of someone who understands science on a deeper level. Hypertrophy research is a new field of science (20th century), and really complex science because of all the different factors involved. He understands that and goes one level up: new things are being found all the time, so many gaps to fill: because you can't really base your training on this science because its not ripe yet, this means that you need to experiment and put things to test to accelerate the development of a solid body of knowledge
@BGeezy4sheezy12 күн бұрын
Exactly. He’s not anti-science, he’s using the gym for data. We don’t need to wait for every study to come out- get in the gym and run the experiments yourself. Experiment with rep ranges, range of motion, intensity, different splits, various exercises, and you can find out what actually works, without needing a PHD. The gym is the laboratory
