Penelope's Chinwag - Episode 93 - Last of my holiday notes

We've had a super 12 day holiday on the Isles of Scilly. The islands comprise five inhabited islands, St. Mary's, Tresco, Bryher, St. Martins and St. Agnes. We visited them all except St Mary's which is the largest and has a few good shops including Seasalt and The Foredeck. We had four days on Tresco, then went to the Hell Bay Hotel which was our base for a birding trip with David Rosair of Island Ventures. It was his 50th year on the Scillies. He loves the islands so much and comes at least twice a year - we are much the same! After the group said goodbye we had two days to ourselves and visited St Martins in beautiful autumn sunshine. The sunshine created a misty fog for the helicopter but we managed to get away to get our trains home. You never know with the Scillies - it's always an adventure!

The small boats on such choppy waters was surprising and I have never seen bees work so close together! You were thought of with great fondness yesterday, when it was finally cool enough to think of baking, and Al's birthday as well. We pulled out the lard, purchased after you told us it was no longer considered poison to our systems, in previous videos, and made a rough looking apple foldover. It wasn't gorgeous but it tasted wonderful! Al thanks you very much. What a difference in the texture!

Thank you for sharing the second part of your holiday. I loved seeing all the birds and the bees busy with their business. We have some flowering bottlebrush bushes and I love watching the Noisy Miners, a native honeyeater, here in Australia. These birds never stop talking! Enjoy your week with your friends. Wow, it's been a busy but lovely time and I'm now trying to make sense of the house in preparation for friends. Feels like summer here so Pete can cook for us and we can craft!! - let's hope!!

My goodness, I think I was getting seasick watching that boat on the choppy waves😲. I love the ocean, even just the really big lakes are mesmerizing. Uff dah, sounds like a long day traveling! But what a great adventure and holiday. Thanks for.sharing. loved the bees🐝🐝

It really is an adventure. So many means of transport and you never know if you are going to get there due to fog or mist even on a lovely day. But when you're there, no cars, peace and quiet, views from every direction. We have walked our socks off and now are getting used to daily chores again.!

Hello Pene. Having been away myself I’ve really enjoyed catching up with you and Pete on your travels. It’s great as I feel as though Ive been with you! Thanks so much, I'm fine. We've had some work done on the house and it hasn't gone too well, so I'm dealing with workmen, which is not my favourite pastime!
