Sophia and Sal weren’t just drinking wine - she said something to the effect of “how can you open that bottle” - which implies that it is a very expensive or rare bottle. Something one would save for a special occasion or to make a statement. They’re just drinking it around the kitchen table (I believe Sal was even cooking with it - something you normally only do with cheap, cooking wines), Compare to Oz with his seemingly cheap, canned beer from a cooler. His vibe is a literal tailgate party.

All good except . . . not "cheap" wine. If you aren't willing to drink it, why would you add it as a base for a meal? If it tastes cheap and nasty fresh out of the bottle, it'll make your dish taste just the same once on the plate. If you use what you are drinking to build the dish you are cooking, you get a deeper, more connected dining experience. The notes of the wine match those of the food. Use some cheap plonk you'd never have grace a stained coffee mug let along a stemmed glass, you get something you'd rather not eat, nor drink.

Like in "Gotham" this version of the Penguin seems to only truly love (at least at this point) his mother and her death can push him into becoming the Penguin we all know and love.

I have to disagree with you on the idea that Hush is going to be the main antagonist of The Batman II, Colton because I still think that's going to be Mister Freeze. However, if Matt Reeves wanted to, Hush could be the secondary antagonist of that film. It's unfortunate that HBO apparently cancelled Matt Reeves' idea of a Gotham PD series following the Penguin because making Hush the main antagonist of that in TV format would've been peak.

the batman 1 already draws so much from hush that i doubt reeves will use him. plus the whole fun of hush's story is the riddler's role in it, and i doubt we reuse the riddler. i think the villain of 2 will be one we haven't seen in a live-action movie, like a new take on clayface, or maybe the court of owls.

I have a feeling that if Sofia is going to kill anyone, it'll be Oz's mother. I feel like if she kills her, it'll send Oz the message that she's not to be messed with and she'll leave Victor alive, but not unharmed to tell Oz this information. I feel like if Victor is going to die at the end of this series, maybe Sofia will come back to finish the job when both Victor and Oz least expect it. Since Oz and Victor have actually grown close especially in this episode, Sofia killing Victor when they least expect it would truly be enough to make Oz's heart cold as ice and emerge as the Penguin.

Thing is if you mention batman, or have the batman signal, it'll become a Checkovs gun. You'll see it and kind of be expecting to see him involved in the end. It's the same reason they cut the joker scene from the film. You can't hint towards a character like that half way through a story without building up expectations that they'll make an appearance or be involved in the ending, and leave a lot of people disappointed if they're not. I expect we'll get a mention of him at the very end of the last episode to build hype for the next film than anything, but way I see it is batman is currently still helping out the innocents and waiting to see how the mob pans out and who ends up being the kingpin, and make his move them when it's more stable and able to take down. Right now it's quite volatile and anyone can take power so if batman starts taking them out now someone else will just take their place over and over. Anyway that's my take on it

Never read the comics, but I did watch the Adam West Batman shows when they were on tv in the late 70's, 80's. The couple of episodes of this show I've watched make me think of something more akin to the Sopranos, or Breaking Bad. Far from an other-worldly superhero comic. Everyone is dealt different hands in life with varying degrees of tragedy and wealth (or lack thereof), but everyone still has the freedom to choose how they live. It isn't adversity that defines you, but how you respond to it. No one is forced into criminality. Even Victor had a chance to escape this crazy circumstance he was put in, but he ultimately decided to stay with Oz. That's what I appreciate about this show. It's empathetic and sympathetic to these criminals, but it doesn't remove their agency and responsibility for evil deeds. It makes Batman/Bruce Wayne all the more inspirational, for choosing the side of justice and righteousness. I don't buy the argument that it was easier for Bruce to be good because he was born into wealth - all these crime bosses have wealth, and they continue to do evil. I'm convinced even if Bruce had nothing, he would still be Batman, albeit a low-tech one.

Think while Vic and Francis are captured Vic will say he had a hand in Alberto’s death to help protect Francis. Now yes he didn’t kill Alberto technically but he did have a hand in dumping his body and sending it to the Falcones. He could embellish the lie a bit which will cause Sofia to lose it and kill him. Perhaps Francis gets roughed up so bad that she makes Oz honor his promise from this last episode. Granted, the more likely outcome will be Sofia kills Francis which causes Oz to blame Vic for not protecting her and ultimately killing him by the end of this season. These are just my crazy theories so chances are I’m wrong but I’m loving this show sooo much!
