I, actually, got to sit in the President’s seat in the movie theater. When I asked if I could sit there, the gentleman said, “of course because this is the people’s house.” I was on a private late night tour with one of the President’s staff assistants. It was special & I was very fortunate. Take a tour if you can, no matter who’s President. It’s a special place & “It’s the people’s house.”

Between this & your 'Christmas preview' video, I really want to go back & tour again. When we were first there it was 2012, we couldn't take pictures & on the bottom level we could only stand in the doorways & look past the ropes, this looks so much more inclusive & so glad the Diplomatic reception room is now included.

I remember the first (and last) time I was in the White House. My 5th grade teacher was a relative of Mamie Eisenhower and she made arrangements for us to visit the White House. A tour guide took us through various rooms explaining the history of the WH and the various rooms we went through, and at the conclusion, Mamie herself came in to great us. As my parents were "I like Ike" people, I knew who she was, and was surprised (in a good way), how down to earth she was. It was a wonderful experience.

At 5:50, it's properly pronounced "Vur-May" and not "Vur-Meal." Vermeil is the French term of plating silver objects with yellow gold. This is a common error for English speakers. But as Henry Higgins once said/sung: "The French never care what they do, actually, as long as they pronounce it properly."
