@@VOAN if one of my 3 rabbits I have raised for 5 years, since they were tiny abandoned babies, died today, I would be upset, heartbroken, and inconsolable. But I WOULD get through it and continue caring for the others. HOWEVER, If I arrived at home, to find 1 of my rabbits stolen, clear signs of being taken from me, and released into the wild. We are discussing a completely different level of being distraught. Death is closure, but when a domesticated animal is stolen and thrown into the wild where they absolutely wont survive DESTROYS you. You will hardly rest, and continue to desperately look for them holding a shred of hope that you find them alive. The very thought of your precious pet, who is not suited for the wild, slowly dying scared and without you is something I suppose you've never loved something enough to reckon with. There's a reason why when people lose a family member to a killer, but the body is never found, they are even more distraught and CONSTANTLY try to find a body they already know is dead. It's a completely different feeling to deal with than a body you can see and bury. Closure matters more than you think.

Wally is most likely dead. I want to pass along some important background info pertaining to this situation. If someone calls in a nuisance alligator, a trapper is sent out to deal with that gator via the state program. The state of Georgia doesn’t allow relocation of nuisance alligators over 4 feet in length (idk how long Wally was but if he was over that then he definitely wasn’t relocated). The gator is the payment for the trapper. The trappers make money by shooting the gator to sell the meat and hide or they sell the gator to a canned hunting farm. Some will also lie about the destiny of that gator (Lying that it will go to a good farm, but is actually shot). Hence why the trapper won’t say anything about the whereabouts of Wally. Even if he was small enough to relocate and the trapper was nice enough to actually do that, alligators have been known to cannibalize and attack other alligators in territorial disputes. Dropping Wally suddenly into a swamp with 20 other gators could cause him to get attacked by the others as he would be seen as an intruder. They can also die from too much stress. That psychopath who stole Wally needs to be found and charged for their crimes!

There's a similar story out of a small Florida town (somewhere in the Panhandle). He was fully grown and wild, living out of a pond in town or something, but was completely friendly and liked to walk around where people hung out. His name was Blinky bc he was missing an eye, and was pet on the regular by adults and children alike. His favorite food was marshmallows. He got so popular he became the town mascot, but some new person was put into county/state office or something like that and told the town they either had to relocate him or build a 6 foot fence around his pond. They couldn't afford the fence, so they were forced to relocate him. He picked a fight with a bigger lizard (after breaking into the enclosure) and died at the rescue he was taken to.

When it's not a traditional pet, the local authorities never care. We continue to have issues with other people's dogs breaking into our fenced yard and killing chickens en masse, and everyone always sided with the dog owners. I hope this story has a happy ending and they can find Walle, but I unfortunately know the frustration of no one being on your side when you and your animals are wronged. I hopw this sweet baby can come home before the other alligators can do too much harm, and that Walle and his person can recover from the stress.

I believe it was maybe premeditated as well, to which in that case it would be called murder what they did to Wally. And I'm not just saying that because I love animals too much - going out of your way (of course, if this incident even was premeditated) to destroy an animal either in some type of "revenge" because it hurt your pet or someone you know, or simply because you just want to kill and leave it there, or because you want to get back at the pet's owner for something, is labeled murder upon an animal.

@@alexiswilson4186 HUH??? When I googled them it didn't look like they had teeth xD In that case tho, my mistake then xD Every other gecko can't do any damage even if they tried, then :p Can you reccomend any friendly geckos or lizards maybe? Sadly I am deathly allergic to my actually favourite pet, that being cats, so I am looking for alternatives ^^°

Tokay geckos aren’t nice BECAUSE THEIR FUCKING NOT SUPPOSED TO BE PETS, I THINK YOU WOULD BITE, SCREAM, AND TRY TO ESCAPE 24/7 IF YOU WERE PICKED UP BY A GIANT WHEN YOUR BUILT TO TRY AND ESCAPE PREDATORS, with that out of the way, don’t call anything a demon just because you find their personality unpleasant, and don’t blame something when such a low brain capacity it can even make out the concept of malice. Unless it’s my snake because he refuses to shit anywhere except my bed and me 💩

To add a bit of context as to why that trapper might refuse to help: within the community of people who take care of alligators and other wild animals, it is well known you can train an animal like this to be calm and respond positively to certain things, but they also emphasize the fact that it is still a wild animal that will never be domesticated. These people do not respect Wally's owner because they believe his behavior to be dangerous and inappropriate, and as professionals i am a bit inclined to believe that if Wally was any bigger he'd be a threat regardless of how sweet he might seem on a daily basis. That being said, you cannot steal someone's pet, no matter if it's a cat, a spider, a tiger or a god damned alligator, there's a big difference between criticizing someone's sense of what's safe and removing the threat yourself when no one asked you to.

Wally was not a threat. He was a docile well cared for alligator. It’s not that deep. The opinions of people who care for wild animals are irrelevant to this situation. Such professionals would understand you don’t release a docile animal into the wild. Especially when the animal was well cared for in captivity. Wally unfortunately was most likely killed and thus the trapper isn’t going to reveal any more details. The person who stole him was a shameless sorry excuse of a person who deserves to be punished.

@@fellipedasilva99 For people who spend their whole lives caring for these animals and learning from them it is, in fact, that deep. It does not justify taking what essentially is a pet and doing with it as you wish, but i am speculating why these people think they're in the right for not disclosing information.

Apparently alligators can be especially aggressive towards each other during mating season… which the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission says happens this time of year :(

These are the type of stories that truly break my heart… Wally is almost certainly dead. He was likely killed by the trapper which is why he refuses to say where he released Wally. And even if he did release Wally like he said he did he almost certainly wouldn’t have survived seeing as he was a captive raised alligator and wouldn’t know how to survive in the wild. They loose their knowledge on how to hunt for food, find more suitable habitat, and even how to avoid predation from other alligators. Absolutely SCREW those “pranksters”! They deserve every consequence that came their way afterwards and more.

Further proof that "pranksters" should be arrested for several things, on top of a new crime that should be created just for them, don't know what it should be named, I just know it should carry a minimum 1 year sentence Edit: I think I should clarify here and now, I'm well aware of "Public disturbance", "Disturbaning the peace", and "Public nuisance" laws, and those are the laws I was referring to when I said "should be arrested for several things", as I meant there were already laws in place that should put them in jail, I was just saying there should be a further special law made JUST to make their life worse for being a prankster, still don't know it should be called, I'm just really confident that it should have a minimum 1 year sentence

wally is not a service animal . he’s an ESA ,, meaning he’s legally a pet . i believe stealing pets is a crime ,, tho not too severe unfortunately . any kind of animal control who acquire someone’s pet should definitely be legally required to hand over the animal or any information on the whereabouts of it .
