The "You should tip the developers!" thing reminds me of that Shadow of War DLC fiasco where the studios' executive producer passed away due to cancer and they wanted to "honor" him with a $5 DLC where $3.50 would go to his family...before PS/Xbox/Steam got their cut, of course. @hggpi Oh yeah, if you've been playing it after the update, Shadow of War is a phenomenal game and is incredibly well balanced and fun. Before the overhaul update, though? It was as much of a chore as any other live service game is now. The most obvious example is the Shadow Wars. It used to be a 10 wave section with multiple attack and defend phases that all but guaranteed you'd lose captains because of BS traits the AI would have with next to no rewards. After the update? It's 3 waves and you get the Wraith cloaks from them on top of skill points and resources.

I'm in a ton of ow groups and people are saying they are getting banned even when they don't break tos. Someone said they asked someone nicely to switch characters and the rest of the team were grouped up, they reported them and got mute banned. Saying this isn't a discussion and giving automated replies when someone wants proof of their wrong doing is absolutely wild. People wanna know what they did and blizzard refuses to show them. They aren't looking at reports. They just insta ban you when you get enough reports and if a team is grouped together and want you banned they all report you.

I've been playing OW since the original OW1 release. I got my first chat warning/ban last month because I was bad on Tracer and did not swap (it was quickplay and I was learning. A completely valid thing to do. Gotta learn somehow). I was mass repoted by the 4 stack I was with who was unhappy with my gameplay. Woke up the next morning with a ban. I did not speak even one time. I purposely turn off VC and text chat sometimes bc OW2 is so toxic. I don't even know what they saw to chat ban me. something else that’s pretty well known amongst overwatch players( enough for them to fairly commonly take advantage of it) is that moderators don’t even investigate most of the reports they receive. they act based on how *many* reports they receive on a player. so you might report someone who said a slur, and they’d get off scott free; but if a 5 stack reports you for cheating because they’re sore losers, you very well may get banned.

​@@Ze_eT that is only in uncletopia, there are casual servers where if you say a slur the whole server starts screaming it just for fun, witch is fun because i am the one who starts also we have everything from the KKK members to the biggest furrys and its not uncommon to see both of them say the wildest of things

@@fatass7954 that’s not true. If you go into the advanced settings you can set your client-side chat filter. Really helpful for filtering out all of the slurs I saw when I still played on Skial servers

Literally got a 30 day suspension for jokingly saying "no u" because according to Blizzard Support that was the same as if I had done the name calling myself. Everybody knows account action is super sensitive and super automated, I literally get a message everytime I login that someone I reported got suspended. I've stopped using the chat entirely, frankly I only even play the game anymore to hit level 80 on the battle pass due to FOMO.

This has been happening since Overwatch 1, I got a 2 week suspension for telling a spinbotting widowmaker "Go fuck yourself", ended up missing the entire Roadhog Pachimari event. The only way to play without risk of being banned it to disable chat completely, and even then, I recently got a behavior warning even though I haven't had chat enabled for a year and a half.

I have a feeling it became worse in OW2 tho. I once deflected a mei ult in QUICKPLAY. Than the entire enemy team said 'reported' pretty much all at the same time. I replied with a question mark to them. Later that evening I received an email that my account will be muted for the next 2 weeks or something. Okay, whatever, no comp than. In those 2 weeks I was litterly not able to speak in chat or voice and I still got banned for 30 days later... I feel like if enough people just click on report the system will auto ban u / mute u without any evidence required.

Funny story about tipping: My brother had a former boss get arrested for embezzlement charges because they were pocketing most of the tip money, and distrubuting the rest as they saw fit.
