The biggest thing for me as an overwatch 1 player is the removal of loot boxes. I cant believe we live in a timeline where I prefer loot boxes over what they have now. I love that Charlie brought up custom games. For a while I’ve been very impressed by how much depth you can get out of the workshop system. One of my favorites is the new Genji ball where the game is pretty much hot potato using Genji’s deflect. Not only is this game mode great for me as a Genji main, but it also is just super fun to open up while waiting in queue and could even potentially teach new players how to time their abilities with the character. Just overall game modes like these are great to keep OW refreshing

The thing about playing ranked in groups is that even if you haven't gotten your placements yet, the system is already ranking you for every match you play. In the former OW sr system, you can only play within 1000 sr of each other. That means even if all friends start queueing together but two people's ranks gradually become >1000sr apart, they won't get to pick those roles anymore. Say Friend A is 2000sr in support but 1500sr in other roles, he will only be able to play support if Friend B picks a role wherein he has 2750sr.

Something to clarify is that you don't rank up when you win 7 games and you don't rank down when you lose 20. Basically, the "win 7 or lose 20" thing is just like a check in to see what rank you are at those intervals. Of course you can see them at any time in your career profile, but they have it like this because the SR system was really depressing for some. Just watching that big number go down at all hurts, so they changed it up.

On launch day, I got SUPER nostalgic (if that’s even possible) for season 1 of overwatch when it was really popular, was game of the year, everyone and their mom was playing overwatch it seemed. Launch day and a few days after we’re so lively that I had to wait in a queue to play OVERWATCH and it just brought me back to being a teenager when my biggest worry was the wait time to play my favorite game. So when that queue popped up it just took me back to when I’d sit and wait to get into the original overwatch. After watching overwatch die right before my eyes (I never stopped playing), seeing people genuinely enjoying overwatch 2 and seeing the game be revived even if it’s a short burning flame makes me so happy.

I played the game expecting to hate it and I do miss 6v6 but I guess it is kinda better. The gameplay is much faster and I definitely think it allows for far more skill based combat. You can’t argue that 2 tanks back then on something like Hanamoura always caused a stalemate. If defense had a Rine and an Orissa there was virtually no penetrating it. It really was just shooting shields till someone got a useful ult.

The lack of CC has made it a lot more fun. I main support, and the amount I'm able to juke and dance around flankers and other folks trying to kill me has been a blast. The Battle Pass blows, the lack of any kind of cosmetic blows, but the gameplay from a PvP perspective is a breath of fresh air. I like how tanks are built more aggressively too.

I quit about 2019 ish. I was a silver border with one star on console. I then bought the game on pc in 2021ish and played until level 50 then quit again. It’s been really fun to get into the game again, granted i’ve only played for 2 days now but hopefully the game will keep my attention for months to come. Kiriko is really fun to play and I haven’t felt that for many hero releases (last new hero i genuinely enjoyed was ashe, and before that it was moira)

I just wish people would maybe try to learn how to play the game before rage quitting, alot of this game is composition and counters, ive seen just tons of hard counters and no swapping. This entire game is built around the TF2 theory of counter picks and easy swap to re counter when they swap to counter you. Playing hanzo and widowmaker vs winston and tracer is just NOT going to work unless youre an amazing crackshot. They are just so easy to play to counter your character and thats by design. You dont HAVE to play reaper in this case but please swap off the few characters that are so easily and directly countered that way, even 76 would be better because you can run faster and heal. if youre JUST dying then its irrelevant what character youre playing so try swapping. Pros dont even play into counters that are so effective unless they are literally a god and only on special maps and thats the pros single character they play and practice for that specific exact map and scenario

For the roles being locked out while queuing as a group - there are mixed results on if this is based on OW1 rank or mmr, but generally the idea is your friends are likely far apart in skill. If the tank has a rank (or hidden rank) of 3500 and the support has a rank over the threshold lower, once one person selects the role, the other person will be locked out of the role that is too far away.

The only things I’ll miss with 2 tanks is, of course the voice lines that are now gone and the ones between doom fist and tanks. And the fact, if your tank is doing bad or just the enemies is better it’s pretty much an instant loss. The second tank could pick up the slack if the other wasn’t doing well. Besides that I’m enjoying playing ow 2 with 1 tank :)

I'm gonna throw a controversial opinion here: The lootboxes were better than the battle pass. You got LB's for doing Arcade, leveling up and getting endorsement points. So you were constantly getting rewards - Granted, random, not the things you want - but there was a real flow of progress and rewards, that was what kept me playing OW. Now, all the rewards you want, you have to pay for it. The stuff that's free in Battle Pass isn't interesting, it's limited and Blizzard has no right to demand money from us after such a terrible launch, not to mention their past atrocities. There's no incentive to play OW2.

I'm honestly shocked he didn't talk about the fucking god awful monetization of the game that just straight up does not reward you at all unless you play for free. They literally broke the "all heroes will be free" promise by putting them in a battle pass and forcing you to pay up if you miss out on the pass. Straight up you could play for an hour in OW1, get a loot box, open it, get a legendary skin. 1 hour for that reward. In OW2 you have to grind out 60 credits a week by doing every weekly challenge, THEN you can exchange them after THIRTY TWO WEEKS for that same legendary skin that you got in an hour from a free loot box. People cannot defend this shit or ignore it. It's corrupting games. The current battle pass locked heroes may not seem like a problem now, but in 4 years when a new player joins and is missing 12 characters it's going to be a problem.

Sad thing is that I've seen people defend it by saying "it's a free game" or "you can get the hero for free if you get to battlepass lvl 55" but none of them realize that people cant always just grind a game for hours a week just for the hero because of real life obligations and work. Aside from that I also really dislike the "it's just cosmetics" argument because guess what also started as only cosmetics, lootboxes and we all know what happened with those. This battlepass to me just solidifies why I despise these types of underhanded free to play monetization tactics.

(For the ranked system) Your sr is hidden, every time you win it goes up and every time you lose it goes down. It is only updated after 7 wins or 20 losses. Say you were 6-7 and you won that last game. now you are 7-7 and the game updated your rank. Your rank would go nowhere since you have gone even in terms of W/L. Same thing applies once you get 20 losses. It doesn't mean you go down in rank, it means your rank is updated. So you can still go up if you won a ton of games but your total losses has added up to 20. Lets say youre 46-19 on the season, youve had a total of 6 updates to your rank so far. Then you lose the next game and now you are 46-20, which updates it again. Most likely you'll still go up since you are winning a ton. Hope this helps!

You can rank UP with a negative win rate, and you could stay at the same rank even if you win 21 games in a row. Why the 7 wins bs? 1) To prevent people from easily reverse engineer what stats you should optimize to rank up the quickest. 2) To make people play longer game sessions by making what used to be satisfying now delayed satisfaction. 3) They think psychologically it's more addicting to see a screen full of wins, so they hide the 20 losses. Does this 7 wins system help you the player? No, it's Blizzard sacrificing their integrity for money.

I am a bit sad about the 1 tank. It does make the game faster and more dynamic, but it also puts more pressure on the role. If you have a bad tank, it's a lot harder to do well than if you have a bad dps. Also, for tanks like ball and winston, your team will have a harder time if you play as a flanker like you used to, cause then they just won't have a tank. Also the overall balance of some of the heroes feels very off, and I could easily see half the roster sliding into obscurity and a few of them being very solid picks.

Overwatch 2 is ... aight. You are giving it a little too much credit by claiming it pulled its shit together. They had to take the game off during prime time twice for maintence, they did that today for two reasons. One is that there was a bug where Overwatch 1 players stopped owning all heroes and could only play the free rotation heroes. And the other was a bug where Bastion can use his ult infinitely and nuke the map. I wouldn't say Overwatch 2 pulled its shit together, but as a patch it is more fun.

This is pretty much exactly my thoughts on the game as well. I acknowledge there are some problems for some players that have been keeping them from enjoying the game but for me, this is the most fun I've whilst playing Overwatch. I played the first game in 2016 and 17 on the ps4 and then kind of dropped off. The new team comp is really good fun and I love how much more fast paced and aggressively I can play characters who in the past I had to just sit on point with. I can't wait to see the PVE mode come out as that looks like it's going to be sort of a mix of Overwatch and the MVM mode from tf2.

@@PanickedPixel I prefer the hyper aggressive tank to the passive one. The aggressive tank can still make plays even if they feed hard but the passive one gives up space and lets the eneny team win.

I just kinda dislike the tank role being decided by a single coinflip instead of two, most of the tanks I had were just, well, questionable players that might be better off playing some game which doesn't have a team to play with. Other than that the change made the game more fun for me as well.

Nothing like playing "1 dad vs 11 children" Overwatch custom games and workshop mode never fail to disappoint. It's super in depth and you can basically soft program game modes. Seen people make survival horror SCP with trailers on KZbin, Mario Party, gun game, zombie modes, working spider Widowmaker that can climb walls with spider legs, aim trainers with bots, bosses, imposter games before among us, hero makers, ability randomizers and other stuff. Only thing is they need to add legacy hero kit support. I miss Doomfist parkour it was an entire game in Overwatch across all the maps with a speedrunning community with runs on KZbin and was super challenging EDIT: AND WORKING UNO I COMPLETELY FORGOT that stuff was so good while in queue or just chilling with friends it basically became a social chill game when you wanted some nights there are so many other great modes I haven't covered like 1000 damage and Doom Sumo

That ranking system is the biggest issue for me currently in the game. Got placed mid silver (3 I think), went on to steadily climb until I hit gold 2 and then suddenly my competitive updates would stagnate. For the next 4 or 5 updates I’d be shown gold 2 repeatedly, earlier today i made it to another update and i finally made it up by one tier. I assume it factors in losses in such a way that you can theoretically go neutral but still I’d wish for this to be more transparent. Perhaps at the end of your 7 wins it could give you a full overview of the games you’ve played since the last update and maybe display your progress in a graph relative to other updates of the season.

@@deadshot5007 she's not balanced lol she's overpowered. she's basically a dmg hero and a pocket healer that does both roles and has insane movement with 0 drawback. other dps hybrids like zen and baptiste have draw backs. zen struggles to duel and has 0 movement. baptiste isn't a huge healer and does no damage at range

The only thing I hated with the 1 tank meta was the fact it felt like if your tank died it was just over for you as long as they had a tank. However, it's not 100% loss.

From a healing standpoint it's less fun and more of a pain in the ass at the top end. Because you lose your peeling tank, good luck trying to get someone to help you without losing copious amounts of space

My biggest problem with OW was that pretty much every character in dps and tank that was good had some form of stun and it was so annoying being pretty much unable to play the came cause I'm stuck in some sort of stun every 10 seconds, the removal of the second tank is nice as well, overall I think the core gameplay of ow got drastically better with ow2, the new skin system is annoying and for some reason not all of my ow skins transfered with my account merge but over all its been a good experience for me

I miss 6v6 but for probably the dumbest reason: I miss the tanks interactions with each other. From Rein and Zaryas arm wrestling sprays to DVA getting surprised by Winston and just calling him a giant gorilla. Gameplay wise though, yeah 5v5 is so much healthier than shield shooting simulator.

@@artemis-rw5lr I mean you still got 4 teammates and a ton of new lines. The old ones are all archived too. Not to mention in the any role casual mode you can still have multiple of whatever role you want to play, meaning those interactions are still technically in the game.

The one main thing I miss from OW1 tanks, is having Reinhardt + Zarya on King's Row. That's just a classic OW experience we will never see again. Long live the King and Queen synergy.

The synergy of having two good tanks and being able to tell how the other tank is playing , when to protect them when to push etc . I miss that 😕 I'm a zarya main and my close friend is a rein main
