People were saying the game looks stupid after the reveal of that scene on the mountain base but I just looked at it and went "Holy fucking shit this exactly what an Indiana Jones fight scene looked like" and I had my hopes up that the rest of the game would just be a "play through an Indy movie" adventure and I'm so glad that's exactly what it is.

It's funny to think there was discourse about how the devs wanted to downplay the gunfights in the game, because in the movies even though he carries a gun regularly, he uses it very little throughout the series, because ultimately he's not a gunslinger or a marksman, it's just another tool of his
@thomaslacornette1282Ай бұрын
He supposedly have done WWI (youg indiana jone chronicles), most of the time in the movies he just lack of ammo, then he uses his whip to disarm oponent. Everybody kind of forget in the Himalaya tavern there's a big gunfight. In raiders Marion just explode a full truck of nazi with plane machine gun. I personally think a little bit more of gunfights could have add little bit of roughness. In Temple of doom there's also bloody death even in fist fights. Defeat a full army of nazis with your fist and your reporter friend looks a little bit off but whatever that seem to be a decent game fore sure but probably could have been far more fun.

@@thomaslacornette1282 I think they got it right to be honest. The gun is a last resort, and there’s far too many FPS games nowadays. First off being able to play as Indiana jones picking up random things and beating people with them is great. And also knocking people out like you're holding dumbells feels amazing. AND the game actually capturing the charm of the movies is so refreshing. it's rare for a movie-game adaptation to stay faithful to the source material and keep the esthetic and key beats of the story. Also Troy Baker nails the voice and inflections of the character. Seems the developers actually cared about their game and have love and respect for indiana jones. And it shows, I hope they also get the props and respect they deserve for making a game that isn't just an obvious cashgrab

I'm 6 hours in already and I've got to say this is easily one of the best games of the year in a year FULL of banger good games. It is NOT Uncharted or Tomb Raider, and it was never meant to be, but playing it feels like you are 100% in a classic Indiana Jones movie that, so far in regards to narrative and performance, is on par with the original films, which is really saying something. I was highly sceptical of Troy Baker as Indy when it was first announced, nothing against the guy, he's actually one of my favorite actors, but he's cast so often and his voice is so recognisable I usually find it hard for my brain to separate Troy out from whatever character he's performing, but boy howdy that is NOT the case here. Troy KILLS it as Indy, he sounds 1-for-1 with Harrison Ford a vast majority of the time, he's got everything from the voice to the cadence of Harrison's speech down perfectly, and that in combination with the STUNNING character model in the cutscenes, you really lose track of the fact you're actually playing a video game and not watching a movie, which is incredible. The gameplay is also a fresh change of pace from the usual action/adventure tone and it also completely fits the character. The story, ambience, music, and setting is what really shines in an Indiana Jones movie, and the gameplay does a perfect job of complimenting that without distracting from the overall tone of the experience or the abilities of the original character. Indiana is a force to be reckoned with, but he's no one man army. He doesn't get into massive gunfights with small armies on a constant basis and he doesn't perform impossible acrobatics up crumbling cliff sides with cat-like reflexes. He's Indy. He feels weighty, strong but not always the most agile or the quickest, he can climb but only so long without getting tired, and he can easily get overwhelmed if he puts himself in a situation where he's surrounded. He almost feels like a REAL guy as opposed to an invulnerable video game character, which Indy felt like in the movies. That might sound disappointing to some, and if a fast paced shoot 'em up with explosive and elaborate set pieces is what you're looking for then The Great Circle is NOT for you... but if you're looking for a slower paced, methodical puzzle/stealth/beat 'em up with a Film Noir flair that pays passionate homage to its source material, this is perfect for you. That said, I realise this game is probably mostly for Gen X and millennials, and if you're not I can totally understand why this wouldn't be your cup of tea. If you use to play a lot of FPS shooters back in the day and you're a REAL fan of the original Indy trilogy, this was basically made for you, but I can totally see how it may feel a bit too slow paced for the younger gamers.

One of the big appeals of Lego games is that in a lot of cases they're actually the only *kind* of game of something that has been desperately crying out for either it's own game or some kind of game franchise continuation after a super long hiatus. It's always baffled me how Indiana Jones has never really had a ''proper'' game adaptation. There have been games but they've always been mechanically rather sub-par. Is it harder when a game is based more around narrative, puzzles and choice rather than mindless action? Yeah sure but it's always been within the scope of developers.

I love the fighting in this game. I love how messy and chaotic it is. It’s exactly how Indy fights. With a lot of action heroes and in games like this, the main character usually has some technique or fighting style they depend on to take down their opponents, but not Indiana Jones. Usually when Indy fights there’s no rhythm to it, he’s just a scrappy brawler. He’ll use his environment and whatever’s around him to gain the upper hand in a fight. He’s not worried about honor, he’s simply worried about walking away alive. He’s not above cheap shotting someone to gain the advantage. He’s thrown dirt in people’s eyes before and kicked them in the nuts. That’s why I’ve always liked Indiana Jones and found him to be a relatable hero. Cause at the end of the day, he’s a professor and an archaeologist. His brains have always been his strongest attribute, not his brawn. More often than not he’s outnumbered and outmatched and has to rely on his wits to get him out of most situations. For example, in Temple of Doom on the bridge he was surrounded on both sides. So what does Indy do? He waits for them to come closer and then cuts the rope holding the bridge together.

What I absolutely love about the game is that stealth is *entirely* opcional. I've ended up with a mountain of corpses a couple of times now.

This is such a video game-ass video game and I love it. It’s campy, it’s goofy while still taking itself seriously, it’s fun, it knows when to slow down and when to speed up, it’s just so good.

@@reaIixx Star Wars Outlaws is a regular 7/10. It's not bad, it's not as polished as it could be, but it's not great like an 8 or above either. It's in the same league as Tom Clancy's The Division. They're both generic Ubisoft games. It gets a lot of criticism (it deserves a lot of it too) but it's definitely not below a 5/10.

playing this was the first time ive played a game for 5 hour straight in 10 years. It's right up my alley and I absolutely love it. Good graphics (have spent half my time in the Vatican just looking at the paintings, marble sculptures), exploration-focused, lots of puzzle-solving, and i grew up with the movies so it also has a nostalgia factor going for it. hope anyone reading this has a merry Christmas and happy new year, also I love you

Honestly the way the skill books are collected and unlocked are genuinely genius. To get skill books, you have to explore, to get skill points you have to explore, to get bonus you listen to dialogue of NPCs and you can find items for them and they will reward you! It’s genuinely one of the best ways to do this. Side quests are also fully animated and tie into the story. Everything in this game is so well crafted that I forgot this was a Bethesda game.

0:59 fun fact, Indiana Jones is not the reason why PG-13 exist at all. It’s actually gremlins see the movie was too hard-core to be PG but it wasn’t hard-core enough to be rated R so they made PG-13 and it’s been used ever since
@lordmaplefrostАй бұрын
Weren’t they both the reason for PG-13?

These ratings didn't stop any kid to watch em in the end.

@lordmaplefrost Gremlins and Temple Of Doom both came out in 1984 and I believe Speilberg produced Gremlins and obviously directed Temple. The violence in both was controversial due to them being rated pg leading to the creation of the pg-13 rating.
