@@JasonDevil06 Getting accepted for a position at a prestigious institution demands a certain degree of decorum moving forward. Remember, at that point, you don't just represent yourself, you also represent the institution too. And any behavior that brings ill repute to said institution is guaranteed to not please your new bosses. "Being yourself" needs to be tempered with professionalism, which among other things means not engaging in public outbursts that are likely to alienate the public and investors. Moreover, I believe I have seen this person before (or countless ones like them). Based on said Twitter history, a lack of professionalism would probably be the least of the problems this uncouth young fool would bring to NASA.

Like I said on twitter. This is what happens when you act like a toxic pos, eventually it comes back to bite you in the ass. If Naomi was this comfortable being rude to someone over one word on a public platform because she thought she could get away with it, imagine what she would do behind the employers back or god forbid if she was put in a position of power there. Not to mention that her friends witch hunted and harassed the guy, which says a lot about her. This most likely has been done on Naomi's behalf many times before with her support, or even Naomi herself sending them. (Unless she herself was telling them not to, which there is no evidence here that suggests she was.) This is a huge red flag! It is important to have a non hostile work environment or else will people quit and not want to work there if word gets out. If I was an employer and I saw this, I would be like "Hell no she ain't working with us!" because this tweet alone showed a very present part of her character that she was displaying in public. It was unprofessional, rude, and strait up unacceptable behavior that no company worth working for wants in their workplace. I have no sympathy for Naomi, this is the result when someone gets too comfortable with being toxic and rude. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

@@Dr.Oofers I remember once tweeting something like "I wanna ship Ellie x Joel from TLOU" in a TLOU Related post. And within 20 minutes, i sparked a huge backlash, of people calling me a "creep" for shipping an adult character with a minor character. At first it was funny seeing people there get offended but slowly it started getting irritating. So i tried to defend myself by saying it was just a joke, but the ratio got even worse. And i had to deactivate my account. That proved that Twitter takes jokes too seriously. And yeah i know that shipping an adult character with minor isn't good, but it's just a ship. I also tried to do it jokingly, i didn't really wanted to see Ellie and Joel end up tbh.

For those who say she got her job back, that was never confirmed. Homer Hickam issued an apology on his blog (as shown in the video), but it was later removed from all the hatemail he received, and as such, never got back in contact with her. There was a recent reddit thread asking about her whereabouts, and someone claiming to be her friend said she never got hired and instead went back to school. This isn't a surprise when you realize that NASA interns receive a pamphlet of guidelines, some of which talk about how to conduct themselves online. She broke about every rule there was.

That must have been a very educational and humbling moment for this STEM hopeful. This she must keep in her heart and mind next time she wants to write or say something stupid.

This Hickam guy seems like a real MVP. Dude gets snapped at on Twitter and not only responds calmly and mostly of concern for her job, but he also goes out of his way to help her get a new job. He's a guy who understands people are young and dumb and most likely will make mistakes. Truly a good dude who cares about the people who are passionate about the industry.

What did we learn from this incident? Twitter is toxic, cancerous and you should never waste your time on it...ever!

True, but to be honest she kind of had it coming. I don’t think she should have been fired, but you shouldn’t really be behaving immaturely on social media if you’re representing an agency like NASA.

The only time I ever fucked with Twitter was years ago when it first came out. I made a Twitter account to document the size, color, and frequency of my bowel movements. As you can probably tell, I didn’t take it seriously.

I literally know nothing of Hickam, but God bless his soul, he's too professional and patient for this world and especially for Twitter

I went to middle school and high school in WV. Our teachers had us watch that movie almost every year. I basically got sick of that movie. It was good the first time though
