It can be both. You can like places and still admit they have faults. Either way, crime is a problem in every big city, in that sense he's right (Charlie seems surprised that someone is told not to leave valuables in the car, even though I've heard this multiple times). What's really wrong with LA is the homelessness and the car dependency. I walked from the downtown to the Amtrak station and I must've gone past a several mile stretch of homeless tents. In the end though was a Mexican quarter with some live music and stands. The car dependence also makes life hell if you don't want to drive, and if you do.
@fisherthegoat3 жыл бұрын
@@TheDirtysouthfan It's not about liking a place, he said specifically "LA is still a great city" which directly contradicts with all of the examples of LA living he gave. It's not like he said "it's a piece of shit but it's mine, and i love it", he's arguing that it's still objectively a good city, which it isn't really. Overpopulation, bad air quality, rampant homelessness, a long history of crime and poor policing, strong racial divide especially in the legal system, high cost of living. I could go on.
@HotelCode3 жыл бұрын
He's right though, it's called living in a big city. I don't know about LA, i have never been there, but I know that in big cities people will break into your car eventually. That doesn't say anything about how 'good' or 'bad' the city is. I just don't understand why that is such a hot take.

Seth is also doing that high-schooler thing by bragging about his misfortune. " Wow you got 6 hours of sleep last night? I only got 2!" as if getting his car broken into 15 times is something to put on a trophy. Not to mention that when asked how his car was broken into so many times, he responds with that just by LIVING IN LA and leaving it on the street, he reached that number. There is some degree of implication here that is saying "Because it's LA, its possible," or in other words, he himself is shitting on how bad LA is.

Theft feels more violating when you can't really afford to lose what is stolen. If you've got cash to blow or something very small is taken, you probably won't feel it as hard. I forgot to lock my door once in downtown St. Louis and someone stole the loose change out of my cup holder. I felt sad for the person who needed the couple of bucks that badly more than I felt violated.

Los Angeles has the hugest wealth disparity as well as most atrocious land zoning laws in the entire country. Like bro, 100,000 acres are taken up solely by 87 golf clubs in the city, yet it would take roughly 200 acres to house about 50,000 people in multi family units. Now isn’t that just wild when you deal with the repercussions of insanely high wealth in your castle in the sky while all the plebs around you are struggling to find shelter, money, or food? Man it’s a crazy system
@jakegarrett81093 жыл бұрын
Probably the city officials fault. Try building one of those family units, you probably can't. Corrupt city officials, and they don't want your affordable "ghetto housing", so they zone it off limits so you can't have it. Never mind the fact it leads to huge inefficiency, but I can assure you at least one of the council members enjoys playing golf...

Did Seth really try telling Casey what it’s like living in a big city? I haven’t kept up with Casey as of recently too much, but I’d say the man who make a living lane splitting a boosted board through NYC while holding a DSLR at arms length, showing off everything the city had to offer knows a thing or two about life in a big city.

you dont drive cars when you live in downtown NYC, so no, he doesnt know what its like. People shitting on Seth simply don't live in a major city with a car. My cars been broken into 5 times and I live in one, just not LA. Not keeping valuables in your car is well known in these cities, and every single parking lot in major cities tell you this. Best thing to do is to not leave valuables in your car and to leave your car unlocked so they don't bust a window. Millions of people = more chance for crime no matter how nice of a city it is.

@@sk33t_38 leave your car unlocked? are you crazy? they will steal the whole car if you keep it unlocked.
@sk33t_383 жыл бұрын
@@ozanozenir2503 you do know that any car made after 1995 is basically impossible to hot wire right? Passive immobilizers were invented for a reason. In order to hot wire modern cars you literally need a type of ECU superchip which is entirely unaffordable/unattainable to car thieves who are majority of the time impoverished. Regardless, it's nearly impossible to steal a car and get away with it nowadays, you will get your car back. Any damage would be covered by the insurance you pay for monthly, which you do for this and many other reasons. If you have an old car pre early 90s, then thats a decision you have to make. Most of those cars arent worth anything anyways, so something as simple as the wrong window being smashed can total your car. if you leave a spare under your car then you are just an idiot
