Not only does this kid perform his ass off, but as a teenager he already exudes a professionalism that goes far beyond his years, and openely exposes his humility that we need to see so much more of in today's performing arts. We will definitely be hearing more about him very soon. Job well done!

Very well done. The key is the egg. It has a little bird inside that was prevented from being born or breaking the egg. The little bird was trained and able to fly inside, so the egg could float. The big problem is that under that conditions the little trained birds only lasts about 3 weeks before they starve, as you can't feed them. Actually they are flying inside the egg looking for food. Magic is sometimes expensive in many ways.
@DonCarnage423 жыл бұрын
The dark reality is that every time the trick is performed, he squashes that little bird, and so in order to keep the trick going, you need lots of little birds that live out their whole lives without being born, which is kind of cruel when you think about it. Cool effect though!

I agree, I feel like magnets are the trick; to me, the egg was most definitely wobbling in the video. I'm thinking that in the same vein that some performers do not call Penn and Teller up to the stage because then they'd have an up-close view of the trick, I think Penn and Teller were too far to see the wobble very well (which I honestly find hard to believe unless their screen had really ass quality). If they were convinced it wasn't magnets and they couldn't figure an alternative method out, then the kid still gets the trophy.

@@brycewalburn3926 "you didn't do it this way" when they did it that way isn't guessing correctly. There could be multiple different routes you can go to do a trick, just because they can list out one way to do it, doesn't make them correct if the person didn't do it that way.

He is super good at what he is doing at his age and can only become better, I really enjoyed his performance. The vanishing tricks were good but too obvious because we get to focus too much on his hands, the key to this trick is to move his hands very quickly and make us look at anything but his hands when he hides the egg. Slight of hand needs to be quick because people will catch what you are doing if there is a pattern such as moving your hands to the edge of the table, and the egg always disappeared after he moved one or two hands to the table without a deception. I would advice him to move his hands to the table without making the egg disappear once or twice so we question when it actually disappeared. It was also super clear that he had magnets in the egg since the egg was wobbling ''A LOT'' which Penn said it did not, but it is probably hard to see from a distance, different magnets give different results. It was very odd that Penn did not even ask about magnets he just said it was not magnets, how else was it done under the glass Penn, real magic? :P

Clever and cute kid, definitely gifted and I admire how flawless his English is. His sleight of hand is not bad for his age especially when considering he has to go to school and take piano lessons etc, which doesn't leave much time to practice more. I am sure he'll be much better in the future. And I learned something new from Penn; magnets make the egg wobble. I didn't know that.
@-danR3 жыл бұрын
Naw, it was magnetic levitation, with active stabilization, which is easily accomplished nowadays. There was a slight movement of the 'egg', moreover. It can also be done with a ferromagnetic item inside the 'egg' (which probably weighs only a few frame), and a healthy big cryogenic superconducting magnet under the table. A fan under the table will blow away any tell-tale condensation vapor. Obviously this is one heckuva bright school-kid, and he has a magician dad to work out the details with. Is Maxl that smart? Indeed, I consider Maxl smart. On the one hand, I don't expect P&T to be informed in such modern technical means, but on the other hand, it was a giveaway that Penn proposed magnets and then immediately swept aside such a reasonable-at least- _stab_ at some kind of explanation. They weren't treating him as an adult, but I think they admired his presentation-skills, which is 90% of the magician act and decided not to ask, but answer their own question and give him the prize. If he were 20, Penn would have hummed and hawed and come up with... "OK... we think we know the trick... we also admire your magnetic personality and although we've seen some... _repulsive_ acts in our careers, when push comes to shove we think your egg has got it made..." Alyson: "Oh... gosh... I think maybe there's something like code going on here... . Say, do you think you fooled them or what do you think?..."

@DrakeOola3 жыл бұрын
@@-danR You don't even need "a healthy big cryogenic superconducting magnet", the magnet doesn't even need to be that big if the egg is hallowed out with a permanent magnet placed inside. They literally sell kits like this on amazon for $20 or so that keep the object levitated just as well in this video with minimal wobble and spin. You don't need any super chilled helium or fancy superconductor materials, just a regular neodymium magnet and a sizeable electromagnet hidden under the table will do. If it were a chilled superconductor, there would be 0 wobble and 0 spin and look more like it was attached to an invisible stick plus you'd be able to tilt it any which way and even raise and lower it and it would stay exactly how you placed it, just far too much movement for that to be the case. But yeah, they definitely went easy on him. Only 2 ways to levitate, with a solid object like a hidden stick attached to it from behind or a piece of thin fishing line, or an electromagnet. First method is ruled out when the cup is placed on and he sweeps his hand around it so the only option left is an electromagnet but unlike with other participants, penn completely rules that out for no reason and doesn't even attempt a guess. They've trained so long too look for minor movements, finger placements, etc... that others don't notice so I highly doubt that they both failed to notice the egg moving but I guess "youngest fooler ever on p&t" just makes a catchier headline. Technically the third method would be air but it's just too loud and you'd need a sizeable compressor for it to be viable. Also impossible with current tech to keep it as stabilized as an electromagnet can manage and you risk knocking it over if you don't place it perfectly. The wind will also be a dead giveaway if you start moving something like a piece of cloth nearby.
@jacobb54843 жыл бұрын
@@-danR even if they're aware they are also judging on the presentation. There's been several slight of hand tricks such as Kostya Kimlat's Roadrunner Cull where they clearly knew the mechanic, but it was so clean that they had nothing to pinpoint. Even if it was magnetic they couldn't see a single giveaway and let him win on skill and presentation. If they did judge solely on if they couldn't guess the mechanism everything would be double bluffs and Rube Goldberg style mechanisms because they could just say "slight of hand" and be technically correct.
