Penn Slammer 4 6500HS - review after use (part 2)

Penn seem to have had problems with the gears in some fixed spool reels since Pure Fishing acquired them. I had a couple of Surfmaster 850 that the gearing fell apart in after very little use. The Surfblasters I have, though little used, seem a lot better.

I'm looking for a reel in that size at the moment and saw that Alan Hawk rates the Penn Slammer 4 just behind the Stella and the Saragosa above the Stella.

25kg wahoo hits like a truck tho. I'm was looking around for a slammer and found a killer deal, now I just have to keep looking.

I own smaller size Spinfishers for shore work (Wrasse, bass, etc) which have been fantastic. But the Slammers are just not worth the money, especially knowing how unreliable they are. Why buy a Slammer when you could have a Saragosa for less money?

@@lurefishingforwrasseuk2588 learning can be expensive, but if you're a tackle tart like me it's also enjoyable. Enjoy your Saragosa buddy, personally I think they're unbeatable.

@@ibrahimelmansouri9434 from my experience of this reel NO! Get a Shimano Saragosa/Twinpower/Stella instead - IMO Shimano are far superior quality reels. I’ll never buy Penn again!
