I have come to love these reels over time due to the fact that they are low maintenance, hold up well to the elements and come in at a mid range price point! Call me cheap but I just bought one of these and it’s the most I’ve ever spent on a reel. I’ve been using the Penn battle series for a while now and fish the cape cod canal regularly and it has handled the conditions for years so I’m excited to see how the sealing works.

I want to purchase one of these reels but I am holding back as I have read that the IPX5 of this reel is not good and once the water get's in you have to service it or it will break after two weeks. The same source also recommended to spend the extra cash on the penn slammer which is ipx6 rated and is a much better reel. I don't know how much of it is true but you said in the video yu haven't yet had wtaer get in your spinfishers. Also how do the sizes like the 7500 and 8500 compare to the shimano sizes??

what daimeter line u spool on it and how many meters? (4500 series)

For a 4500 I would recommend 20# or 30# braided line

I want to purchase one of these reels but I have read that the ipx5 rating on these isn't good and lets water in but get's sealed from inside causing rust from the inside.The same source also recommended because of this to spend the extra cash on the slammer which has a rating of ipx6 which is better than the ipx5..Not sure how true all of this is. How does the 7500 and 8500 size compare to the shimano sizes??

I have used a spinfisher fishing off the beach and my boat for 5+ years. The reel is still solid and smooth with no signs of water intrusion. I have actually opened up the reel and re greased the gears and it showed no sign of water entering the reel. With that being said the slammer would perform just as well and probably better. Dont have any experience with them personally. A 7500-8500 spin fisher would compare to a 10-14000 size shimano reel.

What made the spinfisher series so famous, a abundant supply of parts, that network is gone, so the new series will never be as famous as the 2 and 3rd generation ones
