Let's just admit it. Listen to a Pentatonix song, and that is your favorite. Listen to the original song, that is your favorite. They kill it on every song they do. Besides that, I think he was referring to preferring it over the original. But, there's room for everyone - the original Cranberries song was great. Nobody can do that song like they did, and for sure nobody is doing the song again like Pentatonix did.

You're absolutely right about those vocal rests, and how they affect the emotions. PTX normally use "wall of sound" in dramatic spots in their arrangements, but this time, almost the whole song is WoS. It would be utterly overwhelming without the rests, in my opinion, and I find myself breathing in sync with them by the end, because I forget to breathe while they're singing, and only breathe in the rests.

Hi Fil, I was shouting (as I'm sure we all were) The Cranberries - this was my daughter's fav and she had it on repeat....like all the time. It was done to pay respect to Dolores O' Riordan, the lead in the Cranberries, who recently passed away. Once again PTX doing more than justice to a song whilst being their thoughtful selves - the Cranberries video was similar to this, again PTX paying homage to the artist. Check out the original if you have time in between making us all happy. Just LOVE your insight and energy when you react. You remind me of a small child who has just been given a really big present - thank you for making me smile :)

I am old enough to remember when the Cranberries came out with this, and I loved it. But like you, PTX did something special with it, they Pentafied it, and made it something new. Yes, better, Stronger and more heartfelt. Between Matt's low base sounding like an Organ to Mitch's yodeling, it was just perfect. There are about 5 reactors on here I love to hear, because your reactions makes my 2020 just a little easier to take. You are one of them. Thank you for being here for all of us! They did this in quarantine and then sent it to Ben Bram to edit and record, so they weren't together. How can they do that? unbelievable! They thought of a way and succeeded, They bought special mics for individual voices and reached out by phone to make these songs. They put an album together called HOME. An EP during a pandemic!!! Amazing to say the least! Sometime would love a reaction to Wizard Of Ahhhs, produced by Todrick Hall... Back story: They were friends with 'Todd' in High School (Scott, Kirsti, and Mitch) so when Todd called PTX responded. A different take on, Of course The Wizard Of Oz! Don’t know about anyone else but I was telling you Thur my iPad that you were right. It’s serene & since we lost Dolorous recently I can’t say this is better but I’ll give you a just as good? Idk. Pentatonix consistently improves hit songs with tiny budgets & little to no instruments. Scott’s Thank You song just reminds me how grateful I am to have found (and am now obsessed with) PTX. You’re fun. I like your reactions. Their Home mash up from the same release is fun too. They recorded these from their own homes because of the pandemic. Besides Kevin, I don’t think any of them had any technical experience. Kevin probably knew the technology before it was invented, he’s so smart & talented. Mitch was perfect in this song. He really captured Dolorous’s almost yodel for lack of a better description. You don’t sound like you need energy but if you find yourself dragging a bit, check out their original song Sing. It’s quick & it picks me up on my worst days. Otherwise, anything PTX, yes please☮️💟😷🎄

They are the best. 2 songs you need to react to... especially because they really demonstrate their ability to create dynamic contrasts in their arrangements, would be "Mary Did You Know" and "Say Something". Both are amazing and Kevin boxes and plays the cello in "Say Something". I hope you'll give them a reaction.

The perfect example of how they use those breaks/silence can be seen in their cover of "When the Party's Over", also on the Home EP. I hope to see your reaction on that too. Love your appreciation and how you break down things. Also saw the Halestorm review on IG, and Lzzy Hale is freaking badass. On top of all the cool stuff she does with her band, she did a collaboration with Lindsey Sterling (who also has collaborated with Pentatonix) on a song called "Shatter Me". Lzzy Hale has also done a few things with Amy Lee of Evanescence that are just breathtaking. Female powerhouse voices of perfection 👌

This song is my absolute favorite and absolutely every one of their songs I mean amazing Grace is of course amazing but this song but they could do that without hearing the other person and harmonized that well and the engineer could put it together that well and then the videographer could do it that well sorry they were the videographers the video person that puts it together I can't think of the word could do it that well makes this my absolute favorite and I do not think anything will ever taught this for me. I'm so glad that you hit you as hard as it hit me because Lord help us but they were doing the separately not one of them heard the other one singing and they harmonized better than they ever have. So I can stop repeating myself I'll shut up now. Thank you for doing this so much. If I ever need to calm down I always listen to this song.

Okay, Seasonal songs and carols -- You ARE going to do them, no?Anyway, here are my three favorites: (But you knew I'd request my favorite holiday songs, didn't you?) #1 -- Christmas Eve. This is an amazing song, written by one of Japan's most famous songwriters, that our guys sang once and once only. They took it, gave it the PTX polish, sang it once live, and never touched it again, which is a shame. It's fabulous! #2 -- The First Noel, with Avi singing the lead all the way through at his most gorgeous, and the arrangement is outstanding, sort of like Hallelujah. #3 -- No video, but still mystical, magical -- The Coventry Carol.

Hey Fil. I'm going to do something I normally avoid which is to repeat what others are saying but in this case I think I have to: you are my favourite reactor. I make fun of your angst-filled rants sometimes but you know what comedians always say - you only roast the ones you love. Those rants are what make me feel I've found a spiritual home here among free thinkers. Usually I steer away from the concept of favourites, preferring to think, no, I'll just have them all thanks. No need to choose. I'm an 'and' person, not an 'or' person. But in your case I'll make an exception.
