People are moving to Alberta from other provinces in record numbers

In the last year, Alberta added people from other provinces at a higher rate than has ever been recorded, new data from Statistics Canada shows. It's become the fastest growing province in Canada.

Its not by choice most of the time. I visit Ab often and grew up outside of Edmonton. When I left I said I would never be back but here I am moving back. Why? 1. The housing prices in BC are so ridiculous that what I got for my place on the west coast I can now buy 2 houses here. (Outside of Edmonton or Calgary) and be mortgage free. 2. 1 tax 3. Gas and everything is cheaper here in AB. 4. No more 6 months of rain and gray skies I could go on but you get the idea....its a perspective. Where you are coming from and what your reasons are and where you are in life. Btw...Alberta is awesome 🎉😊❤

I 100% understand your reasoning, which is why I won't move to BC; I'm frustrated with the lack of planning that goes along with a lot of the decisions that are being made. YYC is getting crazy expensive. I spent most of my time in YEG & am planning on moving back but housing is definitely a consideration.

Alberta is labour friendly. Some companies offer 12 hour shifts with decent pay but you may need to sign overtime waivers. Been working 2 jobs in MB, 60 hours for 6 days , 2 hour travel cost daily and barely making 3k per month. Now in Calgary, making 3k but with only half the time consumed. Ez work life balance and really don’t want to look back.

Where I work co-worker renting basement Ontario $2,100, no chance ever buying house. He is tech/engineer said as long as you are qualified easy find jobs. Came here 1 year ago with his wife just bought $670,000 house. He said smartest thing he ever did. Now he has so much disposable income, doesn't have to wait in traffic 2 hours 1 way. I should buy 2 homes and rent one out and just live like a king in Alberta. Except the 10months of winter and lack of anything resembling nature is a major drawback. If you like cow pasture and oil and kids on dialysis go ahead and move there. If you like massive privatization and TFW’s taking all the profits from services that used to be fully funded, then please move there. Some deregulation is good, especially if they decide to manage their own Pension fund! Free money for politicians! Free slush fund for oil advertisements! Global warming can only help Alberta really!

I’m American and have a property in Ontario. Last year when I was there working on the property, I kept meeting person after person that was moving to Alberta. They kept telling me that I was lucky to be able to live in the states and that Ontario was no longer the place they grew up in. I felt sad for them and I’m really considering selling the place in canada now and investing more back home in the US.

My friend in Alberta told me Albertans call arrivals from other provinces "immigrants". He says Albertans like people from other countries, but not people from east of Manitoba. He says they "bring their attitudes" with them, and are bossy & rude. Whereas I'm in BC, and I tell him that the east Canadians we get here are nice to us. Interesting. Why does Alberta get rude people from east Canada, and BC gets nice people from east Canada?... My eyes are open.😳👁👁

Everything is better here, our premier, no provincial tax, cheaper fuel, more affordable housing to name a few. The winters are cold and long compared to BC but you get use to it. We love Alberta and it’s people especially rural communities which we live in.
