0:05: Shame on his friends for jumping to conclusions like that. And shame on her boyfriend for not coming to her defense. The true colors of him and his friends came out on that one. 5:21: If he didn't contribute to the finances on the house, his name shouldn't be on the title. She was wise to not put his name on the title. Conclusion: This is also a perfect example of the double standards on how men and women are treated on issues such as finances.
@LL-zw2qb2 жыл бұрын
Even if he did contribute to the finances of the house, his name should not be on it if they are not married. If he weren't living with her he would have to pay rent to live somewhere so him contributing to the finances doesn't entitle him to half of her house and the fact that he told his parents that is a big red flag.
@Kayenne54 Жыл бұрын
Anyone said anything like that to me, in those circumstances, and I'd turn it back on them, instantly. "so if it was BF who got the house, I could expect him to put my name on the title deed, without me contributing even one red cent to it all? Wouldn't that make me a gold digger??".

Hii! Just realized it might be confusing since the story cuts to a new one fast, so here are the timestamps! Two different separate stories! Story 2: He didn’t even contribute so why would she include him? He should be grateful she’s even letting him live with her. Also- what is it with these people and calling their GFs a bitch??? All because they don’t get their way? OP is NTA!

@@js8303 The women in both stories should dump their boyfriends. The boyfriend in the first story should've said something to his friends. I agree that the boyfriend in the 2nd story should be grateful that the woman is letting him live with her. 1st Story: OP did the right thing when she defended/stuck up for herself. Her boyfriend's friends were making misogynstic/disrespectful/rude comments. Her boyfriend should've said something to his friends. OP should dump her boyfriend. 2nd Story: OP did the right thing when she didn't put her boyfriend's name on the house title. The boyfriend didn't help pay the tax. He also doesn't pay any rent. He doesn't deserve to have his name on the title of the house. The boyfriend should be grateful/appreciative that she is allowing him to live with her. The boyfriend, his parents, and his family members are in the wrong. OP should dump her boyfriend, make him move out, and then change the locks. The changing the locks would be so the boyfriend wouldn't be able to get back in the house if OP dumps him and makes him move out.
@deannal.newton97722 жыл бұрын
I would also add that in the second story the girl's own family should be involved as well considering how her boyfriend and his family are basically harassing her for having something that they're not even entitled to in the first place. At least when her family is involved in the mix, they would back off on her.

Story 1: It *DEFINITELY* is time to go dating again and search a boyfriend. That one OP has is not even close to adequate. Story 2: The main difference why the *HUSBAND* of one sister is on the title and the *BOYFRIEND* of the other sister is not mainly is contribution to costs. The husband of the sister with the bigger house does pay half, the boyfriend of the sister with the smaller house does not, but expects her to just give her half the house for absolutely nothing in return? You do not get legally stuff for free. Especially you are not gifted half a house worth multiple tens of thousands of dollars. He and his family have shown their true faces. They are not interested in OP at all, all they care about is the gold they can dig. It is honestly not a bullet, but an artillery shell she dodged. Same advice as in story #1.

@@valeriebrathwaite8541 okay even still they're boyfriend and girlfriend of three years he hasn't made the commitment to want to marry her. If he was her fiance that's another story but I'm not giving some guy a title to the house if we break up because he now owns part of it. That's a huge commitment to want to give someone title to a house if you're just boyfriend and girlfriend and for his parents to gaslight her and for him to call her a bitch and being manipulative, I'd drop him in a heartbeat it's be a waste of three years together but I'm not letting someone disrespectful over a goddamn house that wasn't meant for him

It seems that the first story boyfriend have a big alpha male ego or whatever they are called these days. Not just him, his entire friend circle seems to also have that kind of male ego mindset. They speak as if all girls are gold diggers, probably because they think girls are useless and only relies on man. They disrespects OP in front of her, it was a party and it wasn't just only one person who does this. The others who didn't spoke just watch and do nothing (especially the boyfriend)? Another sign that they look down on girls, they think it is okay to shame girls in public??? Lastly, after the incident all the boyfriend could think off is how the girl embarrassed him by telling his friends how much she earned. Probably because it ruins his whatever 'alpha male ego' image in front of his friends. OP should straight away break up with him because that's a huge red flag. These people have no respect for woman
@gaxalee73922 жыл бұрын
Clearly, the parents and boyfriend weren’t expecting the relationship to last and wanted some guarantee that they could trap Op in with him or put her in financial ruin trying to get the house out his name because there is no other logical reason for why a rent-free adult would be on the title of a house.

Me (psychology) and my boyfriend (astrophysics [Computational models are his thing]) are studying fields that can make a lot if you are good and smart about it. Yet we both grew up mid and lower middle class so money isn't the important thing. I love him for many reasons and one of them is he appreciates the gesture of me paying for things for him. Most of my exes either complained that I paid for anything or didn't pay for everything. With my current boyfriend, I pay for tickets and he buys the food. With how expensive activities are, its almost half and half.

Welcome back everyone to another episode of “would this be okay if the situation was reversed?” On today’s episode, we are looking at a woman who pays for and owns her own house. Her boyfriend is not on the title at all and pays nothing. He calls her selfish and untrusting in response. His whole family is calling her names and trying to manipulate her! Let’s reverse the situation! “Golddigger” and that is all we needed to see folks! The answer is NO! The situation would not okay BUT would it be more accepted? Probably. Tune in later for another episode of “would it be okay if the situation was reversed?” I’m your host, Athena, checking out!

5:21 Her grandma passed and gave her one of the houses, therefore it's inheritance- he isn't entitled to it at all(unless specifically stated in the will). Inheritance can't be touched during divorces, or after marriage(if the late person died before you married your spouse) and why would he be on the title if he contributed *nothing.* Her brother-in-law did contribute so it makes sense to add him to the title and another thing Why do some people think their children are just automatically entitled to anything belonging to their child's partner, because you're not if you didn't buy it, weren't given it, or just generally haven't done anything that would substitute you as a 'co-owner' (in a way)-you're not entitled to owning it. If you can't pay for the commitment of half the house, don't say you deserve to own half of it. If you're not paying for anything in the house, you don't deserve to own the house, let alone say you should be given half of it- that's not saying your partner doesn't trust you, it's them being responsible and sensible people.
