I once got asked out by a very handsome man, dressed in a nice suit and everything, had a winning smile, I was pretty excited. I was disappointed though when for our date he wanted to go to a cheap dive bar. I said fine, I thought maybe I was being superficial. On the actual date, he was super odd. He kept talking about his exes and how they’re all crazy. I thought he was joking since I think that’s a pretty well known red flag but he was totally serious. He then starts asking about my most recent ex. I say a little, but try to move on, and he starts asking “so were you in love with him? You wanted to marry him? You wanted to have his babies?” I was getting freaked out. This whole time his phone keeps going off. He finally tells me that it’s his ex texting him, and he says it like I would be impressed. He then proceeds to SHOW ME THE TEXTS. To prove how “crazy” she is. What she was texting was letting him know that she was getting a restraining order because he was abusive and manipulative. I should also mention that he has me cornered in a booth table and keeps trying to kiss me, despite me pushing him away. He then starts saying that he likes to drink, but gets possessive and violent when he’s drunk. I ask “um towards women?” And he’s shocked. “What?? Of course not! Why would you think that?! Oh, because of the texts, right??” Thankfully (and unknowingly to me) my ex’s old roommate was the bartender and recognized me at the table from the bar. He came over to chat and was getting out of work so I was able to escape the date and go hang out with him instead. I now go to same place with all my dates so I know the bartender and don’t let myself get cornered in any tables. Also learned that a pretty face and nice clothes don’t mean you’re not a total weirdo!

I haven't kept girlfriends for longer than a month because once I see enough red flags I end it. Mike Birbiglia tells a long story about how his relationship with his years-spanning fiance was just two people perpetually afraid of hurting the other's feelings. You just have to be willing to accept change, not get stuck in paradox. I imagine the only relationship that will work is one with humor, adaptability for change, and the ability to *thrive* in paradox.

I had a girl with mutual friends, who hit me up on Facebook, pick up me up for a lunch date so we didn't take two cars. She seemed super cool in the weeks before we went on the date, so I didn't think anything of it. She picks me up and immediately looks at my Jordan brand shoes and says "That's too bad, I like Kobe's better." Weird flex, but okay. Figured she was being playful. No big deal. We go to Texas Roadhouse and everything was going fine, just typical small talk asking about each other. I bring up sports because we're both fans. This is where this takes the turn. She looks at me with a straight fucking face and starts telling me about all the professional athletes she's dated. Not like small name guys who would be believable, but straight to Patrick Kane and Brian Urlacher. She then begins telling me that she left them because she knew she could do better, and that they constantly beg her to take them back. (Note: She's a five tops. Also has kids, I was at a weird time in my life.) She's goes as far as saying that she's a big reason that they're as good as they are, as her oxygen company brought them to a new level. (She said that company was gonna replace medical marijuana) At this point, I'm realizing that this woman is oozing bullshit out of her ears and that I've made a massive mistake. I cruise through my lunch and start looking towards the door. I even start saying that I have to work later that night and that I should go catch a nap as I haven't slept. We finally get out to her car and I'm thanking the Lord this plane crash of a date is almost over. Wrong again. She tells me she's driving home, but that she has to make one QUICK stop. Fine. Whatever. Just fucking hurry. Turns out that quick stop was a tattoo parlor. My phone is dead at this point and my house is a 20 minute drive away. I sit there for two hours as she gets a tattoo in her wrist, while she constantly asks me to join her. She wants to get a couples tattoo. I refuse with every inch of my fiber and ask if we could just go. She immediately pays the guy after I say this and off he goes. She finally drives me home. I get out of the car, tell her I'll call her later, and she's on her way. Immediately delete/block her number and on every social media imaginable. Outside of her occasionally sitting outside my house every couple weeks, I never saw her again.

On the last story in particular, I have something to say about the guy and the writer. About the guy: he clearly has some form of Autism. I have Autism so I understand that it's not as simple as "I shouldn't do, think, or say this". Especially with this guy being a very logic based person. This in itself is not bad, however. Where it does become bad is when it's clear that he doesn't understand and makes no effort to understand the weight of his actions. To the writer, I say don't dismiss someone for having "poor social skills." If someone has poor social skills, it usually means some form of anxiety or small social circle. A guy like that is an outlier. On a more positive note, I do thank the writer for doing their best to remain civil.

Never tell them when you get in, once you're safely home just sweetly chime that you'll grab the cash. Their choice is to refuse and drive you to the police station or let you go inside and get it (and they know where you live)...seriously, a taxi driver will even pop back the next day to pick up payment if you screwed up so badly you don't even have it at home...that happened and made me start the 'always have cash at home for a taxi' rule! :D

3:45 I never thought someone would stop going out with someone just because they formerly used drugs?
@xyannail46785 жыл бұрын
Maybe it would put them off... But if they have stopped using them and they don't feel the need for them

It depends how they told them. If they were bragging about it or acting like it was no big deal, I can see that as off-putting.

That last one she was dating a spoiled Aussie. XD Kinda hard to socialize with someone who can't read social queues AND grew up poorly.

This is weird but I like to listen/watch in the mornings cause I get to laugh first thing. I like the black background over the white it's not so blinding.

I have frequently found myself in a situation where a girl agreed to go out with me merely because she was hungry. I suppose it could be worse. At least it beats eating alone. While that sounds way more depressing my said out loud.

I went out with this guy once. He asked me what types of things I like to do, and I said dancing. He took me to a sex club. As soon as I realized what it was, I stared him down like I was about to explode and said "Take. Me. Home. Now!!!!!" He did, I never took a call from him or saw him again.

Many people commenting on that last story have suggested the guy was "on the spectrum". But there's a difference between autistic/aspie and asshole.
