In my defense, when I first had the encounter, I walked outside then opened my menu to look at the new nail, pressed circle one too many times, then realized what happened and was just silent for about 10 minutes, because it dawned on me that he was going to want to be killed by his creation. didn't reload the save tho

To be fair, if I recall correctly, spell damage is based off of nail damage, so it's safe to assume that the nail is used in some way during casting. So in a way, you did kill him with your nail, just not the intended way.

If it does say “pure” after using soul magic to game-end Nailsmith, it’s probably b/c he’s never seen a Pure Nail in use, and since he has his eyes closed the entire time, most likely he just feels the new sensation of soul magic damage and is like “dang this do feel pure doe”.

When I did this I wanted to use a nail art on him, but I forgot you attack before it charges, so I ended up just poking him off. It's what he wanted, but somehow I still feel bad.
