The plaintiff claims the defendant, her brother, moved out of her home and stole her television and refused to pay rent. Now she’s suing him for money she’s owed. Years ago, my younger brother conned me into getting a 3 bedroom apartment with him so that he could get custody of his daughter. The lease was in my name because his credit was horrible. We got a 15 month lease because it came with the first month's rent free and they let us move in a week early for free. The day before the rent was due, I came home to find a note saying that my 30y/o brother had quit his government job and was moving to Atlanta to go to school and I should talk to the housing office. Fortunately, the apartment complex had a vacancy for a smaller apartment available within two months and a family who needed a larger apartment showed up so everything worked out. However, the relationship with my brother has never been the same. BTW, my brother didn't finish school and moved back to our state within the year.

I will be forever grateful that I called and talked to my brother (we were not having any issues) one day - because 10 days later i got a call saying that he died …. I kinda have to agree. The stress can kill u. And if relationship is toxic enough to effect ur health and well-being, best thing to do is wish them well and turn ur back and life and move forward. I feel like depreciated value is never calculated correctly. It's granted according to the value of the item during the hearing, but I feel like it should be based on the value of the item when the person that took the item took possession of it. We don't know what he seen while he was there. My uncle was in the military in the 70s and still experience PTSD from war. My uncle has good and bad stories that still haunt him today and he's 78 years old.

I think I would have to stop talking to my brother for a bit. The terrible comments about a “woman’s job” is worst enough. However he complains about the boyfriend not cleaning up WHEN HE MAKES HIS GIRLFRIEND CLEAN UP FOR HIM. His sister cleans up for her boyfriend because that’s what her family (from what I know the brother for sure) teaches her. She needs to live by herself and learn more about herself and respect for herself, since her family is teaching the only thing for a woman is to clean up.

I wish Judge Milian would control her litigants better. Instead of telling the details of the case, they act it out. "I told him this. And he said that. And I'm like wow." Etc. ad nauseum. And she gets too involved. Her biases shine through very clearly.

Personally, I think if couples want to do an old-style marriage (traditional) where the guy works and the women cleans, cooks etc... I personally don't see a problem with it, as long as they both agree to it. When I grew up that's how my parents were, and it was great! I always had a mom to come home to after school or give me rides when I needed it. The traditional marriage works really well IF both people are cool with it. :)

That only works if the woman isn’t working full time too. But if she is and she is still doing all of the housework, then it’s only imbalance and will cause problems.

@@naiadolling Very true, the working individual needs to bring in enough money to compensate for the family. In my case, my dad at the time brought in a healthy amount so it worked very well as my mother did not need to work at all. She actually did choose through of her free will to work part time as she was a go getter, but the choice was completely hers.

Older veteran sometimes have stubborn and malignant way about them, my dad was the same way, he didn’t like any dishes in sink, any dirty clothes, they are trained to always be ready. Also always put in your share of the duties. Military wives were always expected to take care of their husbands when they got home because they have to deal with the absolutely horrible thing they see and have to do in the service. Now women are in the military more, times have changed. But I commend his better half for taking care of her man.
