Blessing and curse. There is no guide to being a parent. Growing up the only child I was very entitled until my mom put her foot down, and she was so hurt with herself because she tried to give whatever I want growing up. The best of the best and I thoughts that’s how I thought life works. When my mom put her foot down all hell broke out! There are so many teens where I live whose parents bought them BMW's, Mercedes, Audis, Range Rovers, etc. Brand new 1s at that. When my children wanted their cars, they had to buy their own. They were not allowed to buy a brand new car nor were they allowed to get something they could not pay cash for. The reason being was I already knew that with them being new drivers the ins was going to be ridiculously expensive. I wanted them to have something they only have something they only had to pay liability & comprehensive, instead of full coverage, which would've been something I would've had to pay for, for them. Their cars & ins were already in my name, with them being authorized drivers to make things as cheap as possible for them. I'm so glad that we did things that way since my daughter totaled her 1st car within 6 months of her buying it. Thankfully, she was ok & the truck she turned into had minimal damage, which our ins covered. My son is still driving the same hoopty he 1st bought. It has its issues, but it as well as the ins is in his name & he's keeping it running. He is also responsible for any tickets he gets. My daughter's driving has drastically improved since her 1st car... she's now on her 3rd, which is a loaner suv of mine. As long as her bf keeps doing the upkeep on it I'll most likely sign it over to her. She did buy the 1st & 2nd cars out of pocket. The 2nd vehicle loss was caused by a deer committing suicide. Had we known comprehensive ins wasn't included & was actually a separate policy it would've already been on that vehicle. It is now on every vehicle that does not have full coverage.
@crystaldavison32485 ай бұрын
I went thru the same thing with my daughter. Bought her a car when she got her license for $2000 & she totaled it 2 months later. She asked me to get her another one after that & I told her she better buy it because I wasn’t. She got one 3 years later & it taught her to be a more cautious driver & to be way more responsible.
