I agree. Your comment is the only one I've seen so far questioning the email translation. And Junko didn't see the original Japanese. Everyone in the comments characterizes her as a sneak and pretending not to understand, but English is not her native tongue. That's not easy, especially coming from something like Japanese to English. I would have liked a second opinion on the email as well. It's also possible the Japanese just wasn't translated correctly, rather than it being a malicious "translation." I didn't trust the defendant as he fumbled over his answers like he was making things up as he went.
