The plaintiff rented a home from the defendant. She says the home caught on fire and ruined all her belongings, but it started from an electrical fire. She claims the landlord won’t pay her back for her property that was destroyed, so she’s suing for the cost of belongings, pain and suffering, and the remainder of her security deposit. The defendant argues the fire was not electrical. He says the plaintiff stopped paying rent while he was in the process of evicting her

Oh it happens, my apartment burned down a couple of years ago. I was supposed to go into to work at three. By 2:50/2:55 my apartment was on fire. I called my boss while everything I owned was burning. And told her I wasn't coming in. The next day she told me that I really should've of come in to work because the apartment was already on fire and there was nothing I could do about it. So I should of just come into work. This is why people have renters insurance and your landlord’s insurance does not cover the renters property that is their own responsibility. If you are not paying rent and you pretty much have no right, good grief all these people feel entitled, but they don’t want to actually do anything responsible?

Her job may be considered "lowly," but her actions in not paying rent, moving her sister in and going on vacation while owing rent certainly is. She didn't get the thousands she asked for. At some point, regardless of where she works or what she earns, she's gonna have to grow up and be an adult.

Why does everyone have a problem with her tears? It's an upsetting situation to have your belongings ruined along with the posibility of potentially losing two of your loved ones for something you didnt cause.

When I use to rent, I’ve always had renters insurance but thankfully never had to use it. Even tho it wasn’t the landlord’s fault, now she knows moving forward to never rent without renters insurance! Also, curt was super insensitive to ask why she was upset. She lost everything in a fire, duh. 😒

Everyone that is renting should have renters insurance. It can be as low as $10 a month.
