We eventually moved out because of it and she tried taking us to court, but we had pictures of all the mice we caught with the traps WE bought so the judge let us keep the money. That's mice... This is the problem with Airbnb and these short term rental companies/properties. They want the money hotels make, but don’t always do their due diligence to make sure their properties are professionally presented. She should have professional cleaners before/after every guest and professional exterminators regularly if she wants to rent her house out. Especially since the monies she earns from renting this house out are income or offsetting the cost for her vacations. A problem with short term vacation rentals is that they don’t undergo routine safety inspections like a hotel would. It’s scary when you realize someone is renting property that could have mold, faulty sprinklers, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, or carbon monoxide detectors. This case makes me wonder if this is the only property she rents out like this or if she’s one of these wannabe JW Marriott mini empire people; I say that because that’s not what Airbnb’s model was meant for. Airbnb was originally intended for someone renting a spare bedroom, In law suite, or vacation home. Above all, if she treats her house like it’s a hotel, then it needs to be held to that same standard.
