If this started on Sept 29th and he got back with a custom countertop in the 3rd week of November, that's not long. I've ordered custom counters, and they can take anywhere from 6 to 10 weeks, depending on materials.
@Stressless20239 ай бұрын
I was thinking that too. Even laminate can take a few weeks if it's a custom order. It almost seemed like JM was about to rule unfairly against the contractor for a moment there - He earned his judgment.
@boriqua12229 ай бұрын
Shared the same thought! It only took about 6-7 weeks, which made sense to me for something custom made. She was just annoyed at not having a sink for that long, which is what happens during a renovation. LOL. Plaintiff was fair and firm!
@panamafernandez46418 ай бұрын
That's what super annoyed me about Milan. She always says she's super knowledgeable about residential construction because it was her dad's career. Yet she's giving the Plaintiff a hard time even after he said very clear the counter had to be special ordered?! I think she tried to take it back when she saw that the order was basically placed the beginning of October. She should have apologized
@JR-gn9ei8 ай бұрын
He should’ve communicated that to her
@panamafernandez46418 ай бұрын
@JR-gn9ei JM should have asked him when he ordered the countertop. As I said, she claims to be knowledgeable in the contractor/construction business, so she knows that a lot of customers' expectations aren't conducive to the availability of supplies & resources. The fact that she tried to berate the Plaintiff about the length of time for a special ordered product to be ready was completely ridiculous.

The woman was well aware of her actions, and she's fortunate he didn't pursue a criminal case against her. Despite completing the flooring work, the man never received payment for his actual labor; only the money for the ordered countertop. It appears she hoped to get away with not compensating him for the additional work. Even though the countertop installation took longer than anticipated, she should have realized she was still obligated to pay for the other services rendered. Since the countertop was custom-ordered, there's no option to return it for a refund, leaving her responsible for its cost. The man had been generous, charging only $550 for the countertop. However, he made an error by commencing additional work without securing some form of payment. It would have been prudent to ensure she paid for materials and half the labor cost upfront before starting any further tasks.
@keekeedavis17049 ай бұрын
What part of he was being paid for the floor is the judge not understanding. All of that extra wasn’t even necessary because he was being paid for the floor which is the 550.

For the defendant to have found another contractor to install another counter top means she must have contacted the new one weeks before he was able to do the work, because no contractor can come out to do a job at the drop of a hat, so that means that while the plaintiff was doing her floor in October, she was already contacting other contractors.
