I agree. Either he sold the dog for money or the dog somehow got out while he was at work and was lost. I do not believe his story that someone broke in and JUST stole the plaintiff's dog and not the other dog or any other valuables in the house. How would anyone even know that dog was there in the first place to streal it? And the fact that he doesn't seem AT ALL sorry for the fact that the dog went missing in his care, and his general lack of concern, given that the dog was left in his care only proves that.

I'd be curious as to whether anyone checked with the landlord. I know if I had a tenant who had an approved dog on the lease and let it crap in one of the rooms as a matter of habit, I'd be quick about removing any new, non-lease approved dogs that showed up. By the same token, anyone who would willfully destroy another person's property by letting a dog regularly use a room as a toilet is also someone who would have no issues with selling someone else's dog.

I got my dog chipped for $10. If you are a pet owner, get them chipped. Plus, my dog's collar has my phone number on it and when she goes outside her collar is always on and it has her tags. I wonder why the judge skipped over the texts. If the sitter never mentioned the window and the plaintiff did then that's sketchy. Especially if there's history of the plaintiffs family accusing people of stuff. I wouldn't show sympathy either if this is the 2nd time the family is accusing me of something

JMM will not refer to the Defendant as either he or she. VERY VERY CAREFUL.
