When you pull in the center of the car wash, you don’t have to. It’s people that park too close to the automated washers that need to turn their mirrors up or else the washers hit them. Also, automated car washes ruin paint as well. That’s why they’re not recommended.

I recently filed a small claims against a car wash for this exact reason. The business didn't even contest it. However, unlike this case where the business owner states how many cars go through her wash and this woman is the only one who has claimed damages, I had heard from somebody that the wash that broke off my mirror has done that to many other people's cars too. So my mirror wasn't the first one that broke off in that wash.

I've never seen a manufacturer's build date on a sign relieving a car wash's liability for damage. They usually say they're not resposible for mirrors, antennas or modifications done to the stock vehicle. And $2k for the damage. $200 for the assembly and less than a an hour's labor, even at $200 an hour. If pushed, the defendants had solid proof of the plaintiff's history of filing claims, no matter what the plaintiff said. She's a con woman and that goes against her credibility.

Many car washes pull the mirrors inward for this very reason. It is very common for this to happen. I like touchless car washes as these types tend get rocks stuck in the brushes that scratch paint.

There was one car wash episode I saw that popped up irl the other day. She said no car wash would dare not have a disclaimer (not responsible for damages) kinda sign. I took my dog with me for our first automated car wash. I started getting worried since the brushes at this one appeared to be some kind of material, not a fabric, but more like a soft rubber. Then I remembered the episode and started looking around, went back around the building when it was over to check, and whatdya know. No disclaimer signs.

Every car wash in the universe has at least one sign that says that the car wash is not responsible for any damage to roof racks, antennas, mirrors, or any other of the vehicle's appendages. AND, last but not least, as a precaution you can always fold the mirrors in before washing, which would give them a lower profile and make them a bit less vulnerable to damage.

The plaintiff can't do simple math for one thing, and I've watched enough of these court shows to know that when a litigant is asked, as the plaintiff was, about past auto claims in this case (It is often former criminal charges) and the answer is, 'No ... I don't think so', usually means 'Yes, yes there are former claims/charges'. It needn't have been tape holding that mirror on, it could have been a super glue that wouldn't have been detectable on the video, and then just snapped when the brush touched it.

My car is 2005 and it's Never broken through a car wash, and they're Amazing with my car, most car washes please tape on wipers so they don't come off, So there's plenty of car washing places that care about customers Vehicles no matter what the year is!!!

This happened to me at a car wash before. At the time, I was driving a 10-year-old Mazda6 that had a slightly dented driver side mirror, to begin with. The attendants witnessed when it happened and came out to help me reattach the mirror - while simultaneously pointing out the "at your own risk" and "not liable for damage" signs hanging at the car wash entrance.

Aren't there signs that say you need to put your side view mirrors in when you go through anyways? They did at the carwash that i worked at anyway. Those brushes are tough and thats why they have those disclaimers
